question about "Tajiran"

as you may or may not know, in response to Japanese characters getting editted out in the English version, the Japanese producers opted to use a completely fictional writing system. My question is: is this language complex in any way? Like, is it actually a variant on Japanese language which some official sources have released a key for, or something like that? You know, kinda like Zelda's Hylian text and Digimon's Digital World text? Or, is it really just the bunch of cheap, unimaginative scribbles and s*** we make it out to be?

I'm opting for the second one, given that its appearance is quite inconsistant. If they really were attempting to create a working writing system, the symbols would have to look somewhat uniform.

I believe it's just a bunch of "unimaginative scribbles and ****" - I mean come on, the majority of it half the time is scribbling. But then again Arabic just looks like a bunch of scribbles as well. Who knows - sometimes I've seen scribble with what looked like Japanese characters.

My guess is that they just scribbled some random stuff in, figuring us, being the viewers, would get the idea. It may be a langauge, but I really doubt it, it doesn't look like any language I've ever seen

It's just a bunch of random scribbles to stop 4Kids from erasing all the Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana writings from the episodes. :/

With the way they cut corners on much more relevent issues, I'd be shocked if there was some sort of hidden meaning behind the Tajiran text. So I'm opting for it being some incoherant garbage that's just thrown in to appease countries other than the series' place of origin. With the occassoinal awkward looking japanese character thrown in, due to lack o' memory~

The difference between Digimon/The Wind Waker and Pokémon, is that the former actually does have a lot of effort put into these minor details, and the story as a whole. Pokémon just makes crap up as it goes along, or at least, it seems that way most of the time.
Though it's nice to think that there is the possibility of it being translated into something understandable

It's just a bunch of random hidden text from some ancient language long ago that the animators and writers discovered while having lunch in a back alley next to a magic lamp, which opened up the concealed temple when one of the writers screamed in joy at the prospect of another Charizard appearance in the anime, accidentally knocking the lamp over, inadvertently spewing the magic held within to rip the back alley's concrete floor wide open, leading to an entrance guarded by vicious mummy dogs (which didn't stand a chance against the writers' dull, monotone imagination), upon where they first found out about the ancient writing and stole it for their own, deciding to help themselves to its ancient power of confusing the HECK out of people through hidden messages and stupid, mindless writing.

The way I see it, some of the text appears to *look* Japanese though scribbled up enough so that they aren't Japanese characters. Though this is only from time to time. For the most part, it looks made-up.

they're definately made up scribbles, it's supposed to look like japanese characters, but it also resembles english letters as well...

perhaps they're japanese characters that somewhat resemble english letters, but "morphed" moreso to resemble english.

it's kind of an interesting response from producers overseas who didn't want the anime to have written japanese appear in the show though...
