Question about the Sevii Islands

I'm sure this might of been asked already, but I cant help wondering are the Sevii Islands supposed to be the Orange Islands from the 2nd Animé series or are they two different sets of islands?

They aren't intended to be anything but what they are: a tropical archipelago to the south of Kanto. They aren't the Orange Islands nor are they intended to be.

Okay thanks for that information, I was just wondering about the Orange islands as they have not been in any Pokemon games as of yet. They were probably just invented to keep the Animé going whilst Gold and Silver were in production.
