Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but I've only recently gotten back into Pokemon, and I haven't been able to stay on top of any developments in the series.

First, there's a help thread for questions like this.

If the cartridge seems to be working fine, then trading with it will probably be okay (I'm not going to guarantee that it'll be 100% risk free, though).

Anyway, since hacking is a topic that's not allowed here, I'll close this.
