If my opponent switches before it's effect will my opponent still be affected?

If you mean by you use the move, then they switch out then no, yawn will not work :/

if you use yawn before he switches out then they put him back in he will fall asleep but if you use it after they take him out he wont

If you use Yawn on an opponenet, and in the next turn he switches before his Pokémon falls asleep, then the effect fails.

After you used yawn,the opponent will fall asleep.So a lot of people will swich out so yawn won't work.That's the good part of yawn,since it forces a switch,giving you a free focus punch.
