Where's my fanfare?
Should I (and any future mod of this section) just close threads where the starter posts the full image of a card, or breaks any of the rules? What do you think?

Edit: The thread closing would of course go with a warning and mentioning of the rules.

Leave my posts alone
I'd just give them a warning. If they did it again, a referal, and again, closes thread.

But ignore me, everyone else does....

Close it, and they'll start a new one, so don't. Not to mention, can't you just ask them to edit their post?

can i ask, why is it such a huge problem to post an image??? it doesn't stop people doing it on other forums...??? me personally, hate having all these windows open, whe it is much easier to just simply see the card as it is... and it does NOT give me an issue to make the page any different.

so i say NO.. don't close the post... it sounds to me you have something against us fakers, fox???

On the contrary, I have nothing against the fakers. A long time ago, I took on the duty of cleaning up this section after I was just Pokemon TCG mod. I enjoy viewing the fakes, however, I want to prevent one problem that came up before, and still happens in other sections. Actually, there are two problems with posting card images.

When people used to post their cards, people would reply in their thread, quoting the original image. This caused a massive slow-down in loading pages, and ended up frustrating a lot of fakers and raters.

Second was when a faker had a lot of cards. Their thread would be so full of different cards that the slow-down would happen again.

Sometimes BOTH problems persisted in the same thread, which prompted me to place this rule.

Its a minor inconvenience in opening a new window, but it helps the forums go smoothly.

Edit: Oh, and it also just shows that either people disregard rules, or haven't bothered reading stickies.

:O.. i didn't know this... ;) thanx for the low down fox! i will take care in making sure my images are posted in link form.. ;) thanx for changing my mind! *pats on back*... coolish, i guess im settled.. i think it is simple to just change the post if someone accidentally forgets this and posts image format. simply change the image to link, and have no worries, no warnings coz that makes people sad :p

I suggest just changing the picture to a link on a card and notifying the person of the rules. If the problem persists, I suppose closing and warning is necessary.

I have no problems with my thumbnails, so instant-closure for all is what I say. It's the quickest way to make them learn.

Instead of closing the thread (which of course would end up with the artist making another unnecessary thread), just remove the image and give them a warning.

I am an art mod in another forum and this had been a problem there too.

I would, as Tauromacis mentioned, edit the full image to a thumbnail or a link. But if too many images are in one post, notify the thread maker, and leave it at your own discreation. Of course, it's obvious the problem will grow, so instant closeure would be the best for me. Or perhaps, if possible, don't allow images to be posted in this forum.

Ye, that happened to me before, but I didn't know that was this way around here... But that is past, and I learned my lesson so I think newbies should learn it!

In my case Fox edited it but I desrved that the thread was closed!

I voted yes, and I'm convict of it!

But if it was closed, people will create a duplicate thread. Unnecessary garbage, imo. Disabling images to show might help prevent people from posting the full image. People will just have to click on the link to view.

My proverbial 'hat' is off to those who posted their opinions and such here. I pretty much guessed what the answers would be, but I asked anyway lol

I've said before in the last rules thread that I would start closing threads, but I never did.

Oh, and check out the Fake card discussion rules. I added a rule 7 for fake card posters, and another post in the thread.

What I do is just give a warning. I also leave a warning in there User Notes but thats entirely up to you. Closing a thread is a bit to harsh unless the topic starter requests it.
