Quick Question about Mt. Battle...

I've been lurking around these forums for several months now, and found it to be a great source for any questions I have about the games... and a good way to kill time, as well. I just got myself a copy of XD, and I'm enjoying completing it. One of the sidequests I'm having trouble with right now concerns Mt. Battle and the challenge of obtaining the Johto Starters.

I've gone through the whole 100-person battle sequence three times now. The first couple times, I didn't get my Johto's. The first time, I left to get potions and second time, I fiddled around with my lineup via the PC. Both, as I now know (thanks to the XD FAQ Thread), are definite no-no's. The third time I made it through, which was just a few hours ago, resulted in no Johto's yet again. I don't remember doing any of the "No-No's," although I may have used the PC at some point on the trek. The only thing I can think of that screwed it all up was saving it and turning the Gamecube off to do other things (namely, go to classes and make dinner for the girlfriend).

So, do you have to sit through all 100 Battles without saving, or did I probably just use the PC and not remember it? (Whenever I get an adequate response, feel free to close this thread.)

You're allowed to save it. you can save any time. I would have to gues that using you PC at all must have been it, because I see no other reason why it wouldn't have given you a starter.

Did you have 6 pokemon in your party? You need to have 5 or less party pokemon to get the Johto starter.

i had 6 pokemon in my team and i got totodile.

you probably must have used the PC. i can't think of any other way you couldn't get it.

Just start a new challenge, beat everybody without losing once, don't use any PC and don't exit then return where you were ( you need to do it in 1-shot only). That's what I did and I have now the 3 starters...
