Ah cool I’m glad you also think that Turtwig vs Chimchar deserves to be 2nd (I figured this battle would be underrated by a lot of people). I mean the first battle was awesome too but I feel like it’s this battle that really establishes just how much of an antithesis of Ash Paul really was not to mention that the strategy was top notch (particularly with the holes) and not gonna lie that battle made me think that the final battle of their inevitable Sinnoh league match was going to be Ash’s Torterra vs Paul’s Infernape. With vs Gary 1 while it was very short I liked how there were defensive and evasive tactics used with Reflect for Eevee and Agility for Pikachu and the battle was basically decided by which Pokémon could land the first clean hit. Also the way Brock and Tracey were hyping us Gary’s Eevee was pretty decent “booking”’ that actually did make the win feel sort of believable even if Pikachu was coming off of taking down a mighty Dragonite.

EDIT: So we agree on the absolute best and worst battle and our top 7 (all the very good+ battles) consist of the same battles with slightly different ordering. I guess like with tiering Pokémon it’s easy to tell which Pokémon are really good but it gets more difficult/subjective when comparing at the mid and lower end lvl.
