Rate my team in glod version

Santa is watching u!
Right now i only have 3 pokemon that i am traning in gold.
If you have any advice about what pokemon to get or moves to get or where to train(Before Goldenrod city) i would like to hear it!!!!

My Team so far!
Gastly lv 9 Knows Hypnosis, lick, and spite
Pidgey lv 11 Knows tackle, sand attack, and gust
Chikorita lv 12 knows tackle, growl, rozor leaf, and reflect

I just restarted my game.
I gave chikorita the Miracle seed to help in battles!
Right now i am going through the cave south of Violet city.

Not bad for what you have but you need to raise them up more
and try to put in some water and fire types to balance it out.Since your in that
cave try to catch an Onix.;095;

P.S. you spelled gold wrong.

True!! very true!
I got the onix in the trade but it will not listen to me in battle!
I am thinking about getting the red gyarados later in the game.
I also got 8 pages worth of cheats at www.cheatplanet.com
i was also thinking about getting a growlithe or vulpix or magmar for my fire type pokemon.

Well of all those fire type pokemon you said growlithe;058; is
probably the best because it has good speed and attack and
a really good evolution.

I got some more pokemon and updated my team a little bit!

My team:
Gastly lv 15 knows Hypnosis, lick, spite, & mean look
Pidgey lv 15 knows Tackle, sand-attack, gust, & quick attack
Chikorita lv 15 knows Tackle, poisonpowder, razor leaf, & reflect
Flaaffy lv 16 knows tackle, growl, thundershock, & Thunder wave

I am on my way through the forest to goldenrod city and i am getting headbut right now!!

You gave up all that?!?!?!?!?! Your Typhlosion was awesome too.....Just don't try to clone your Ho-oh this time, okay? you dont wanna lose it like you did last time.I'd say train gastly to a high level to be your strongest pokie, cuz it has no weakness since it is poison and ghost type, it has power over psychic, and won'y be affected by earthquake; its special ability is levitate. it wont get hit by ground moves.

Shadow- What is levitate? I've never heard of it. The Gastly chain is affected by ground attacks. Psychic attacks are also super effective against it, sure, ghost attacks are super effective against psychic, but I'd still say the Psychic type would win in a battle. At least person to person.

Levitate is an ability given to the Gastly evolutionary line, and many others. It does prevent ground type attacks from hitting. But abilities are only in 3rd gen and after. Gengar is weak to Phychic.
On Topic: Keep training. I havent played these old games in years, but I think if you keep training, you can easily conquer all your foes ingame. I wouldnt cheat if I were you. It totaly screws your game up somtimes.

Your going to have one hell of a time doing it with Chikorita. I did my gold game with him and had THE most terrible time. You cant get fire types till much later in the game (around the Ghost badge place). Otherwise so far so good. My Rocky is a Lv 50+Steelix now. Super powerful! lol

For a fire type I would go for a Magmar if possible, personal prefence. Yes there is the fact that Growlethie evovles into Aracanine, who is very good, but I just like Magmar more. Magmar can learn Thunderpinch(hint,hint) and Psychic also, taking adavantage of a good Special Attack stat, give it Flamethrower, and a filler, maybe Toxic and it is set. Was wondering why that move set looked familliar, that was the move set on my Magmar in my first Silver Scramble, that Magmar swept almost all of Lance's team on its own(w/o Psychic and Toxic), other than a Qwillfish taking out Areodactyl. But, I disgress, Arcanine and Magmar are both good Pokemon, with Arcanine having better overall stats, they can both work well as mixed sweepers, as they both have high special attack and attack stats. It is a personal preference really, but you must also consider movepool for each when choosing. So far your team looks good, but it needs to be higher leveled, and make sure to find a way to breed leech seed on to Chikarita, it will help it. Also do NOT I repeat do NOT put shadow ball on Gastly/Haunter/Gengar, they have an awful attack stat.

A good Curse Pokemon would be a slower Pokemon, such as Snorlax or Slowpoke(maybe). I've always wondered what would happen of you had a Slowpoke/bro/king with Curse and Amnesia, how well would that wall?

Anyways the team does have promise, keep at it.

You could get a water type like Wooper. and you could swap those tackle attacks for something more powerful. But your team is getting better. Its also a good idea to get fire pokemon as you said.
