Don’t give a Pokémon two attacking moves of the same type.
Don’t use items that only boost one type. This includes Magnet, Charcoal, Mystic Water, Sea Incense, Nevermeltice, etc.

Espeon@Leftovers
Synchronize
Relaxed
+Bite
+Morning sun(Recovery move)
Calm Mind
+Psychic

Ampharos@Leftovers
Static
Sassy
Thunderbolt
Fire Punch/Focus Punch
Light Screen/Substitute

Thunderwave

Thunderbolt > Thunderpunch.

Zapdos@Leftovers
Pressure
Lonely
Thunder Wave/Resy
Drill Peck
Light Screen/Sleep Talk
+Thunderbolt

Okay, Charge is one of the most useless moves ever.

Zapdos uses Charge (0 power) and uses Thunderbolt (190 power).
Zapdos uses Thunderbolt twice (190).

They do the same thing, but if you use T-bolt twice, you double your chances of paralyzing the enemy or getting a Critical hit. Do you see how useless Charge is now?

Onix@Leftovers
Rock Head
Naughty
+Earthquake
Toxic
+Iron Tail
Rest/Explosion

Evolve please.

Flygon@Leftovers/Choice Band
Levitate
Gentle
Crunch
+Earthquake
Rock Slide
Fire Blast
Screech/Qucik Attack

Metagross@Leftovers/Choice Band
Clear Body
Docile
+Meteor Mash
Earthquake
Rock Slide/Sludge Bomb/Shadow Ball
Agility/Explosion

Note: Attacks with '+' next to it will not be changed.
Sorry but a lot of those attacks are bad.

i see your point about Charge, but with me, i'd rather use an attack w/ a power boost once instead of the same attack twice. Repeated attacks are a bad idea in extremely long battles or back to back battles. And,I could just get a Scope Lens from my Emerald for critical hits. I will evolve Onix when I get a Metal Coat, and what's with explosion?! I have never used that attack, and besides, it knocks itself out then damages every other pokemon on the field. Leftovers...the team has different items because if i (for some odd reason) wanted to enter them into the Orre Colosseum, I wouldn't be able to like that. How about alternating between Leftovers and Shell Bell?Choice band is okay, except for the fact that i'd be stuck using the same attack over and over unless i switch out, and that wastes a turn. Oh, and i rarely use move that mess with stats.

Does this pokemon seem good as a substitute for one in the team?

Salamence@Galon Berry
Intimidate
Bashful
Aerial Ace
Dragon Claw
Crunch
Fly

Should something be changed about Salamence?

Moves like Calm Mind and Swords Dance are good power-up moves. Charge isn't, Charge is useless.

No it isn't. If Thunderbolt was the most effective move to use against the opponent, then use Thunderbolt twice. If it takes more than 3 turns to kill the opponent, find a better counter for that opponent. Charge + Thunderbolt is not only a horrible strategy, but makes for horrible battling.

And,I could just get a Scope Lens from my Emerald for critical hits.
But Leftovers are way better.

Explosion is great as a last resort. If you don't want to use Explosion, use Rest.

Fine.

Choice band is okay, except for the fact that i'd be stuck using the same attack over and over unless i switch out, and that wastes a turn.
CB is awesome. With the power boost, you can kill most things in one turn that you can't kill without it. You don't waste a turn by switching out if your teammates can backup your CBer. That's why it's important to have a well balanced team.

Oh, and i rarely use move that mess with stats.
You should.

No, more like

Salamence @Leftovers
Aerial Ace
Earthquake
Rock Slide/Fire Blast
Dragon Dance

or

Salamence @Choice Band
Aerial Ace
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Fire Blast

Keep in mind these are all 2v2 battles... so you'll have 3 pokemon with Earthquake and 3 pokemon that have a weakness to EQ, and Espeon doesn't have great defense either. So I would consider switching a few pokemon (Ampharos and Onix in particular) for ones that won't get killed by their partners' EQs (Salamence is a good start).

ALL 2 vs 2 battles? Is there a single 1 vs. 1 battle in the game?

If there isn’t, then that’s pretty lame.

Actually, my Espeon has a good defense due to its nature, but is average compared to the rest of the team. This has really been bugging me. Onix has great Atk, Def, and Spd, but lacks in Spec. Atk/Def...does that change when it undergoes evolution?
How about replacing Ampharos with:

Starmie@Leftovers
Natural Cure
Hasty
Rain Dance
Thunder
Recover
Psychic

There are one or two 1 on 1 battles, and from what I can remember they only happen in somewhere in the first few areas of Mt. Battle.

Assuming these are all double battles, replace Ampharos with Ludicolo, and use:
Ludicolo@Lum Berry
Modest
Swift Swim(you must use this trait)
Surf
Ice Beam
Giga Drain
Protect

Teach Zapdos:
Zapdos@Leftovers
whatever nature you have
Rain Dance
Thunder
Drill Peck
Protect

Lead with Ludicolo and Zapdos. Basically, you use Rain Dance with Zapdos, which doubles Ludicolos speed and boosts its Surf, and it also gives Zapdos' Thunder 100% accuracy. And then just kill everything you see.

Ok, 2 vs. 2 battles change everything. Stuff that works well in 1 vs. 1 won’t work so hot anymore.

Make sure your first two Pokémon work well as a pair. Zapdos + Ludicolo are really good, with Zapdos Rain Dancing and Ludicolo sweeping using its Swift Swim.

Metagross + a Ghost type is another good combo. Make Metagross learn Explosion so that you can kill both your enemies without affecting your ally.

Make sure a lot of your Pokémon have Protect or Detect to protect them from the all too common Explosions/Selfdestructs.

Yeah... I'll make sure the majority if not the whole team knows Protect/Detect.

I don't have a Ludicolo yet. Could Kingdra or Relicanth work? I already have a head start in their training.

Oh... well, I'll try for Ludicolo. If I can't get it I'll have to use Kingdra.

Well, to do that I have to move some of the team to Emerald for training/to learn new moves. Besides, this seems better than what I had. But really, i have to ask this: what is so good about explosion(Onix)?
And can someone please answer my previous question: Does Onix's bad Special Attack/Defense change when it becomes Steelix?

Explosion's a great move in 2v2 since, if timed correctly, you can take out both your opponents at once and it's easy enough for your partner to avoid it (Ghost/Protect/Detect/Substitute and to a lesser extent Steel/Rock, and to an even lesser extent, Endure haha). For example, a team with 3 well-planned Exploders can beat many in-game opponents. Granted, it's not so good for story mode, but it's great for Mt. Battle/the Collos. where your team is restored after each battle.
