Pseudo-legendary is a term commonly used to refer to any Pokémon that has a three-stage evolution line, two types, as well as a base stat total of 600. Pseudo-legendaries are more powerful than many other non-legendary Pokémon, if only for their base stats, and in particular, have an outstanding Attack stat. They also have incredibly diverse movepools and can usually be obtained only in their first form. Due to this, raising them is difficult since they require a lot of experience to level up. Since the pseudo-legendaries are very powerful, they are commonly used by many Trainers in their teams. Three of the five pseudo-legendaries Pokémon are Dragon-type.

With the exception of Garchomp's evolution family, the pseudo-legendaries are usually situated next to the legendary trios in the Pokédexes of their respective Generations.

Sorry to put an off topic post but:
Just a quick note so I don't have a bunch of people arguing with 'Pseudo-Legendary' being a good term and I was retarded because I didn't give any backing to my claims.
First, reposting the link to the Bulbapedia article: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pseudo-legendary
None of these things should make it comparable to a legendary. As it stands a legendary is widely accepted by the definition of a Pokemon that can only be caught once, does not breed, and doesn't evolve. While this also would include Lapras / Snorlax back in RBGY, this argument is moot because Game Freak has released statements before dismissing this. Also, there was no breeding back in RBGY, but now that there is it's possible to breed Lapras and Snorlax, further cementing them as normal Pokemon. But I digress.
Legendaries cannot evolve, so I do not see the logic behind this.
Typing has no bearing on legendary status.
Stats have no bearing on legendary status.
Powerful =/= Legendary. Again, Stats shouldn't nor do they have bearing on legendary status. Therefore, I do not see why Mence / Ttar / Metagross / Dragonite / Garchomp are deserving of their own titles.
In comparison to 'regular' Pokemon, they have a large movepool but I wouldn't personally say this is justification. Salamence and Dragonite are the only ones I could making a difference through movepool diversity.
Let's make Scizor a pseudo-legendary then.
This is simply them jumping to conclusions, if you ask me. The PokeDex should not really effect anything considering there's various contradictions in it between games, and is really nothing more than something that's 'cool to look at' but doesn't effect core gameplay.
Seems to me there's some inconsistencies.
If many of the facts stated do not make a legendary, why should they make something comparable to a legendary?
I know not all of the things quoted from the article were used to differentiate pseudo-legendaries from normal Pokemon. However the article has mentioned them therefore they are worth arguing.
And to close let me say a few things:
-Pseudo-legendary is a fan made term, therefore it's much more questionable.
-A Pokemon is legendary when GameFreak says it is. No matter how much of a pattern there is for legendaries, if GameFreak released that Caterpie was legendary than it is, because they make the games and decide the canon. Not the fans.
I feel I should have fleshed out my feelings a bit more, but whatever.
Slaking is superior. And he isn't? I think they picked popular strong Pokemon at the end of the Pokedex and started saying their Pseudo-Legendary.
Yeah, I complete understand you. I think they do have some great stats, as my Tyranitar has beaten some Legendaries like nothing. And some because they Trainer simply sucked. Anyway, although they have some great stats, and have some better than most. But I don't think they deserve their own title.....It's stupid. Also.... Here's what they have (according to Platinum book)
Dragonite
HP: 3/5
Attack: 5/5
Defense: 3/5
Sp. Attack: 4/5
Speed: 3/5
now here's a non-Pseudo-Legendary, Slaking
HP:4/5
Attack: 4/5
Defense: 3/5
Sp. Attack: 3/5
Sp. Defense: 2/5
Speed: 5/5
So...Dragonite: 18/25
Slaking: 21/25

There's a point taken of mine.
