What rank shud i be b4 takin him on and tryin to recruit him? silver? Ty in adv!

You can't recruit him the first time you see him.

I was lv 80 with the friend bow and platinum rank and it still took me 12 tries to get him. (he has a -10% join rate so you have to be well prepared to get him

You NEED to have the Friend Bow equiped and be between Lv 70-100

In other words, you have to be really high leveled. Dang, I wanted to get him to join when I'm done but I'm only at 30.

Once you get the Friend bow and reach the save point with a Pokemon strong enough to take on Rayquaza. Save and just keep soft-resetting or turning on and off until you befriend him. That's how I did it... But I forgot what Pokemon I had.

high i think but you can't recruit on first try. since you haven't beaten story mode.
