I'm taking up the challenge with water types! in fact, I can update right now!

after obtaining my starter, a squirtle, and doing the errand, I got a town map and headed up to viridian forest. after defeating a rattata, two pidgeys, and a weedle, I got squirtle to level 8. right now, I'm at viridian forest's entrance.

CURRENT POKEMON STATUS:

After also having done a grass monotype on Gold, I'm thinking what my next monotype is going to be. I don't know as of yet which type, but I'll wait and see what comes up. Maybe a single-pokemon challenge

Haven't played my Blue in awhile. Oh well. Here's my progress:
Chapter 1: The Journey Begins:
I got a potion from my computer, said hi to my mom, and headed out the door. I attempted to find Oak, but he was nowhere to be found in his lab. I left and decided to leave and catch my own Pokemon as my first one. Oak stopped me. I asked him where he was, but he said nothing. He just took me to his lab to pick my first Pokemon. Eliv complained about his grandpa being late, and he just told him to shut up. He let me pick a Pokemon, and Eliv yelled "WHAT ABOUT ME? THAT'S NOT FAIR I WAS HERE FIRST I DESERVE TO PICK FIRST!!!" His grandpa told him once more to shut up, and I proceeded to pick my first Pokemon. I picked Squirtle and named the little guy Poseidon after the Greek God of rain. Eliv picked Bulbasaur. I tried to leave but my rival said, "Hey Zowayix! Let's battle!" And we fought. It took a while because he made his Bulbasaur keep growling, as if he were trying to intimidate me. After a few growls from him and tackles from me, I won. Zowayix complained about picking wrong and he said he would have won if he had gotten to pick first, and then he left. I then left too with my level 6 Squirtle. I continued to Route 1. I came across a wimpy level 2 Pidgey, and easily crushed it. All I had to do was force my turtle on it. I talked to a man, and he gave me another Potion and told me to visit his shop in Viridian. I said I would, and left. Right when I walked into the grass, a level 3 Rattata attacked me. I force my turtle on it 3 times, and it faints. Poseidon grew to level 7! I continued to Viridian city. I come across a few more wild Pokemon. I make my way to Viridian, and heal my somewhat weakened turtle. I attempt to leave, but an old man complains. I believe he said something about private property. I ask the lady by him what his problem is. She says that he hasn't had his coffee yet. I think I see something in a bush. I go closer to examine it and find that it is yet another Potion. I remember that I said I would visit the shop, so I do. I go in, and instantly the man at the counter says that I need to deliver something to Oak. I think, "Hey. I don't have anything better to do. Why not?" I depart Viridian and I head towards Pallet. I come across a few wild Pokemon, nothing I can't handle. I have trouble resisting the temptation of using Oak's custom-made Pokeball. I know that he will kill me if he finds out I use it that I used it though, so I don't use it. I arrive in Pallet with my level 8 Squirtle. I walk into Oak's lab to deliver his Pokeball. He says I am talented as a trainer and that his old Pokemon likes me. I tell him I brought the Pokeball, and he thanks me. Eliv comes in, and asks what he called him for. He says that he wants us to make a complete guide on all of the Pokemon in the world. My rival, Eliv says that he will get his sister to lend him a map and tell her not to give me one. "If you don't want me to have it, then why the heck did you even tell me about it in the first place, stupid?" I think. I leave to get a map. I leave Eliv's house, and depart Pallet town once more. I battle a few wild Pokemon. I use my turtle's bubbles against them. I arrive in Viridian. I purchase 5 Pokeballs. Who knows, I just might find a Pickachu. Poseidon and I depart the shop. I heal him, and head into the forest.
Team Mythology:
Poseidon;007;: Level 8: Tackle, Tail Whip, Bubble.

EDIT: Well, I can't double-post, so...

Chapter 2: A Walk in the Forest:
I enter the forest with Poseidon. I search for some wild Pokemon, hoping that I find a Pikachu. I find another Pokeball on the ground. I pick it up, and think, "Yay for clumsy trainers!" I continue my search for a Pikachu. I find a Metapod. Not exactly what I was looking for, but it will help Poseidon become stronger. I defeat it, and continue the Pikachu hunt. After 1 Caterpie, 2 more Metapods, and 1 level, I decide that perhaps chanting it's name doesn't attract it. I stop chanting, and keep searching. Poseidon and I grow bored, and we decide to battle a trainer and then continue our search. Bad idea. Poseidon gets poisined. I decide to finish the battle fast, keep using potions afterwards, and leave the forest to heal him. Unfortunately, I didn't bring an antidote with me. I'd had a strange feeling that I should have brought one. Poseidon reaches half of his normal health, and I begin to worry. I win the battle, and Poseidon grows a level. Good thing too, now he has more health. He reaches 12 HP, so I use a potion so that he will be at full health. With Poseidon at half of his normal health, I reach Nurse Joy. I buy an antidote. I continue my Pikachu hunt. I wish that I had an anti-bug repellant thing somewhere. I acidentally battle a trainer. I wish I didn't have to battle.I hope that Poseidon doesn't become so strong that he faints the Pikachu (if I ever find one!!!!!!!) I win the battle with Poseidon un-poisoned. I continue to search for a Pikachu to catch and train. I decide that I could always get one from a friend. Poseidon and I depart the forest, ready for Brock.
Team Mythology:
Poseidon;007;: Level 11: Tackle, Tail Whip, Bubble.

I'm going to do my challenge on Yellow. But I was just wondering if it is possible to ditch Pika and drop it into the box? Because I don't think I'm going to use it. I haven't decided on a type (or pokemon) yet, but I want to know if I can.

I meant technically(as in is it technically possible to dump the yellow mouse?). But this answers my question.

I've decided I'll be doing a Fire Challenge on my yellow. I'll have to catch Moltres, but meh.

It's going to be hell to get through brock, but we'll have to see about that. I will update as soon as I can.

pick a starter, play the game until you can catch your first psychic pokemon (abra) and then ditch your starter (unless you make it an HM slave).

I've started too on my yellow version as of 25-2-2005 and I'm using fire types. (It'll take a while to get one, but well, that's the challenge, right?)

I got pika, beat my rival named Bert, did the errand, and basically thumped everything I saw. Went through the forest motionlessly, leaving no trace of who I was or where I went. Pikachu shocked, thumped, trashed and blew everything up that stood in my path. The trainers feared me. In whispers they spoke of me and Pikachu. The little rat enjoyed the attention. Then I got to Pewter City, to earn my first badge. My little Pikachu had just learnt Double Team (tip for anyone playing yellow and having to use this mouse against brock. TEACH HIM DOUBLE TEAM. IT PWNS THERE!). I managed to beat the underling and the geodude that Brock used. I got crippled by Onix. My second try involved getting beaten by geodude. I managed to beat him on my third attempt, by double-teaming, quick-attacking geodude around and onix as well (unless he used bide; I just thunder-waved then). I used up all of my attacks, seeing as quick attack didn't cut it, and basically struggled to victory.

I had earned my first badge! Way to go for the omniscient Altmer and his trusty pikachu >_<. I was disappointed at not having found a fire type yet, but I assured myself, that day would soon come. I rampaged through route 3 and mount moon. Pikachu gained level after level, his experience soaring through the roof. I managed to beat Jessie and James, and I entered Cerulean city through route 4. I decided to train a little before beating the local gym leader, and went up north. I beat my rival again, who must have a vivid memory of my pikachu by now, who had grown to level 24 by that time. (He really soared sky-high. Unless I would have trained pidgey of course, who really is the ultimate growing machine :D). I beat nugget bridge, and then turning west for a second, I saw a man standing alone with a little Charmander. A fire type! Something I had wanted since my very first dream of becoming a PKMN master! The man told me he wasn't able to care for his Charmander, and he offered to give it to me. Naturally, being the fire lover that I am, I accepted it, and the challenge to train a little Charmander from scratch. I put the little Pikachu in the box, thanked him for done services and headed out, wanting to put my little fire lizard (who I had named Ignis, after the latin word for fire) to the test.

~~Team Eruptare~~

;004; Ignis lvl.10

Scratch
Growl
Ember

In the box:

;025; lvl. 25 (coincidence?)

Thundershock
Quick Attack
Double Team
Thunder Wave

I am deciding to use grass type

Grass types are hell. I know this from experience in G/S/C. Their movepool is not very variable. But it is a good challenge ;)

IMPORTANT:
Because I only have one pokemon, and it is Squirtle, I have decided to switch themes. I thought about it, and it doesn't see like a challenge (especially not a monotype one) to have to beat the gae with about 5 different types. I have decided that I am now doing Water. I hope that this is okay, because y only Pokemon is a Water type. Anyways, I will update soon.

Ok I started this a few days ago and feel it is time for me to start writing.

I chose to do this challenge with the water type. I thought this would be a little easier than it has started. There are no usuable water types for the better part of the begining.

I easily crushed Brock and evolved my Squirtle at the end of the battle.

Misty was slightly more of a challenge, but thanks to Bide, I defeated her.

Lt. Surge was the devil!!! I just barely beat him on my third try.

I just pinched through Rock Tunnel.

I practically flew to Celadon City to get an Eevee. Evolved him into a Vaporean and taught him Bubblebeam and Ice Beam.

So there I am for the time being. It is all down hill from here.

small update

A monotype challenge sounds extremely challenging. I chose the Normal type.

After I chose Squirtle, I ran to the Viridian Mart to get Oak's Parcel, and return to Pallet Town. Quickly returned to Viridian and got some Poké Balls. Soon, Pidgey, Rattata and Spearow were mine. Down in the box you go, Squirtle! I'm currently training a bit in Viridian Forest, defeating all the Bug Catchers and all. I will need to be at a high level before entering Pewter... Brock will be a definite problem.

I won't post my team yet, as all my Pokémon are just level 5... watch for future updates.

EDIT: Brock was easier then I expected! I started off with my Pidgey, abusing Sand Attack against Geodude. It was a long battle, but finally Gust fainted Geodude. Now came Onix. Again, I unleashed a massive amount of Sand Attacks, until Onix' accuracy couldn't drop any more. When it began to use Bide, I switched to Rattata to Tail Whip its defense down. After a long rage of Quick Attacks, Onix got one Tackle in, which was a OHKO due to the Screech attack. I switched to Spearow, and Peck finished the job.

;016; lv.11
Gust
Sand Attack

;019; lv.8
Tackle
Tail Whip
Quick Attack

;021; lv.9
Peck
Growl
Leer

EDIT: Well, after defeating Brock I caught a Jigglypuff and got through Mt.Moon pretty easily(unfortunately I didn't find a Clefairy), thanks to the TM of Water Gun. Without it I would have been stuck at many Hikers... Anyway, I got to Bill(on the route there my Pidgey evolved) and challenged Misty. Her Staryu fainted my Rattata, and her Starmie took care of Spearow and Pidgeotto. BUT! Jigglypuff got Starmie to sleep with Sing, and finished the job with multiple Mega Punches. The Cascadebadge was mine.

;017; lv.18
Gust
Sand-Attack
Quick Attack

;019; lv.17
Tackle
Tail Whip
Quick Attack
Hyper Fang

;021; lv.18
Peck
Growl
Leer
Fury Attack

;039; lv.19
Mega Punch
Sing
Water Gun
Defense Curl

Yeah... I decided to do normal-types. (one of the least popular, but I don't care.)
Starting off. Called myself Osborne, no freaking clue why.(at least I didn't call myself Nudenik) usual, my rival is called PkMn Crud. Started joking around, making the girl go onto the door of my house.Got bored, and went and picked my starter. I chose Charmander. Nicknamed it Substitute.
As usual, PkMn Crud picked Squirtle.
Crud. I forgot the Potion in the computer.
SO, that DIGITAL TURD MANAGED TO BEAT ME!
Oh well. On the way to Viridian, I beat a lvl 3 Rattata, making me feel better.
Went back to get the Potion . >.< Got another Potion from that Mart guy.
Didn't run into any more pokemon on the way to Viridian City.
Got Oak's Parcel. Went through the grassy areas to lvl up Substitute. A lvl 2 and a lvl 3 Rattata both helped Substitute to gain a lvl. Delivered Oak's Parcel. Got the Pokedex.
Got Pokeballs! Time to catch some Normal ***!
EDIT: Good times. I snagged myself a Rattata, which I nicknamed Big bitey, and then ditched my starter as soon as I caught a Pidgey, which I nicknamed Gustav (anyone who has read Lemony Snicket book no.2 would know that name.) Got through Viridian Forest, but got a bit annoyed that Big bitey got poisoned right near the end, Gustav was fainted, and I ended up back at Viridian City. Finally got through Viridian Forest (thank you Antidote lying on the ground) and I'm training for a battle against Brock. My 2 pokemon's levels will have to be at mid 10's if I want to beat Brock (It's gonna be HELL)

The team of boringness:
;016; Gustav lvl 13
Gust, Sand-Attack, Quick attack
;019; Big Bitey lvl 13
Tackle, Tail Whip, Quick attack
