I disliked Dawn because she kept sliding through her struggles with ease.
...that was May and Serena tbh lolI disliked Dawn because she kept sliding through her struggles with ease.

I agree, although I didn't think that she was cocky at any point in DP per se. She had some confidence because her mother had taught her the basics of Pokemon Contests, but I never got the impression that Hikari had a big ego just because of that.
Out of the current characters including the supporting cast and minor recurring characters, Sakaki is one of my least favorite characters. I feel that he's been one of the most wasted characters in the whole franchise overall, because the anime insists on only having him appear once in a blue moon, and mostly just to show him giving orders to Musashi's group. Then there's the fact that Matori essentially took over the role of assigning the trio missions in the more recent sagas, which makes Sakaki leading the Rocket-dan feel pointless. I don't understand why the writers haven't gotten rid of him in some grand fashion: they had the perfect opportunity during Operation Tempest.
...What does a character's personal struggles and character arc have to do with someone completely unrelated to them?Plus her arc in XY ended up being a waste of time anyways once a Nurse Joy randomly mega evolved her Audino
Under the risk of being killed....
Misty.
Back in the day, her character bored me. I've never like her atitude towards Ash or Brock even when she actually had some point going. She just passed me as someone who was way too bossy who took her personal frustration on others. The forced shipping subplot 4Kids forced by changing scripts to fit their fantasies made it somewhat worse.
In the 3rd Orange League Badge episode, I was praying to God she'd leaving there like Brock did (children things).
Good thing Takeshi Shudo (RIP) actually clarified things on his blog when he was alive. And I agree with her point about her existence in the show being the least justified. Even if I was a dumb and naive kid back then I could see her character was pointless and only there to be the token girl
I also didn't like her pokémon and found both Togepi and Psyduck to be useless, unfunny and absolutely unappealing.
But all in all, that's how I saw her character. I actually tried to explain the best I could without breaking the rules or insulting her fans because simply put I just don't like the character and the above points are the closest I can get to explain my reasons.
I didn't like her as a kid but she has grown on me a lot recently after rewatching. I wish her goal was utilized better, there's just so much they could've done with Water-type specialist, though they clearly didn't bother developing companions back in the OS.Under the risk of being killed....

Go.
Boring goal, catches everything without fail and very little effort. Not to mention he tried stealing the dream that is rightfully Ash's, catching Ho-oh
Dislike Misty all you want but 4kids didn’t force a subplot. That’s just incorrect. They only changed two lines in the dub (the line about kissing and the one about being married some day) and they added those unnecessary songs but there’s plenty of Pokeshipping hints in the original and I can prove it with subs. I don’t even have to use subs for some of the scenes like Ghost of Maidens Peak or Navel Maneuvers or the whole second movie because even without dialogue you can see it. There’s actually hints that 4kids removed in the dub like in the squirtle squad episode that was actually shippy in the sub.
People love to throw 4kids under the bus and swear there was no Pokeshipping in the original when there clearly was and it makes me question if you ever even watched OS, specifically Kanto and Orange Islands? Heck, even in Hoenn they put Misty on a queen of hearts card that was in an OP that was only in the original.
Even Takeshi Shudo hinted at it in his book and there’s also hints in the manga.
The giant 4kids made up every single Pokeshipping moment ever’ lie has to be stop because it’s literally so obviously untrue and told by fans who never even watched the OS.
