I'm sorry but no. She was the only one to receive such a crushing defeat as two back to back appeal losses. Her once cocky attitude totally broke and she became hella depressed. Idk how that is sliding through struggles with ease.

I agree, although I didn't think that she was cocky at any point in DP per se. She had some confidence because her mother had taught her the basics of Pokemon Contests, but I never got the impression that Hikari had a big ego just because of that.

Cocky doesn't necessarily mean a big ego. She was just kinda more overconfident in herself which is why when she lost her first contest she almost cried in shock to her mother before her mother told her not to cry over a loss.

Go.
Boring goal, catches everything without fail and very little effort. Not to mention he tried stealing the dream that is rightfully Ash's, catching Ho-oh

Out of the current characters including the supporting cast and minor recurring characters, Sakaki is one of my least favorite characters. I feel that he's been one of the most wasted characters in the whole franchise overall, because the anime insists on only having him appear once in a blue moon, and mostly just to show him giving orders to Musashi's group. Then there's the fact that Matori essentially took over the role of assigning the trio missions in the more recent sagas, which makes Sakaki leading the Rocket-dan feel pointless. I don't understand why the writers haven't gotten rid of him in some grand fashion: they had the perfect opportunity during Operation Tempest.

Thankfully that seemed to be reversed and he's back to giving the orders.
Matori was the only bad thing about SM's TRio... well aside from their stupidly large appearance gaps.
I still don't like her and feel like she was just pointless, could have brought back Butch/Cassidy or actually utilized the Skull/Rocket rivalry instead of abandoning it instead

I dislike rivals like Burgundy and Miette because they were just mean without a reason for being mean. Harley was too but the writers knew how to make him a good character even with his childish grudge.

Burgundy and Miette were boring compared to him

I have never liked Ritchy/Ritchie/however it's spelled. I might have some mental scarring ever since he beat Ash at the Indigo league.

I also remember thinking that him showing up in Johto was stupid. The writer of the Lugia episodes could've introduced Gold/Jimmy instead of having Ritchy return...

Ash post-DP. He's a shell of his former self and BW completely destroyed him imo. It didn't help when they did a complete 180 on him and made him a borderline Gary Stu in XY. Most of his fan base is toxic as well, particularly most of the ones that self insert themselves into him.

Go. His personality annoys me.

Korrina. She gets way too much screentime because of the Lucario pandering that this anime likes to do, especially when characters on the main cast at the time definitely needed the screentime way more than she did. Plus her arc in XY ended up being a waste of time anyways once a Nurse Joy randomly mega evolved her Audino. Her English voice also makes my ears bleed and its so loud.

...What does a character's personal struggles and character arc have to do with someone completely unrelated to them?

"God I hate Ash because Naruto wants to become King of the Pirates and collect the seven chaos emeralds to get his brother's body back and destroy the Death Note."

See how stupid that kind of logic is?

Under the risk of being killed....

Misty.

Back in the day, her character bored me. I've never like her atitude towards Ash or Brock even when she actually had some point going. She just passed me as someone who was way too bossy who took her personal frustration on others. The forced shipping subplot 4Kids forced by changing scripts to fit their fantasies made it somewhat worse.

In the 3rd Orange League Badge episode, I was praying to God she'd leaving there like Brock did (children things).

Good thing Takeshi Shudo (RIP) actually clarified things on his blog when he was alive. And I agree with her point about her existence in the show being the least justified. Even if I was a dumb and naive kid back then I could see her character was pointless and only there to be the token girl

I also didn't like her pokémon and found both Togepi and Psyduck to be useless, unfunny and absolutely unappealing.

But all in all, that's how I saw her character. I actually tried to explain the best I could without breaking the rules or insulting her fans because simply put I just don't like the character and the above points are the closest I can get to explain my reasons.

Dislike Misty all you want but 4kids didn’t force a subplot. That’s just incorrect. They only changed two lines in the dub (the line about kissing and the one about being married some day) and they added those unnecessary songs but there’s plenty of Pokeshipping hints in the original and I can prove it with subs. I don’t even have to use subs for some of the scenes like Ghost of Maidens Peak or Navel Maneuvers or the whole second movie because even without dialogue you can see it. There’s actually hints that 4kids removed in the dub like in the squirtle squad episode that was actually shippy in the sub.

People love to throw 4kids under the bus and swear there was no Pokeshipping in the original when there clearly was and it makes me question if you ever even watched OS, specifically Kanto and Orange Islands? Heck, even in Hoenn they put Misty on a queen of hearts card that was in an OP that was only in the original. Even Takeshi Shudo hinted at it in his book and there’s also hints in the manga. The giant 4kids made up every single Pokeshipping moment ever’ lie has to be stop because it’s literally so obviously untrue and told by fans who never even watched the OS.

I didn't like her as a kid but she has grown on me a lot recently after rewatching. I wish her goal was utilized better, there's just so much they could've done with Water-type specialist, though they clearly didn't bother developing companions back in the OS.

Same. His only purpose is to be a blatant marketing tool for Pokemon GO (I hate characters who only exist for the purpose of marketing, especially if it's to promote an element that is divisive in the fandom) due to how much he mimics the game's catching mechanics and his Rotom Phone giving a grade for how well the catch was. Then there's the fact he's even named after the game itself and his attire resembles the male player character. His personality also annoys me which is probably why I won't give Journeys a chance, on top of me not being interested in the franchise as much these days.

And.... It happens what I thought it'd happen.

Those things were all up to interpretation just like every single pairing fans create for the character

That's your opinion and interpretation of the scenes, not a fact.

Even Takeshi Shudo hinted at it in his book and there’s also hints in the manga.

The same Takeshi Shudo has said in his blog they weren't meant to be an item.

The giant 4kids made up every single Pokeshipping moment ever’ lie has to be stop because it’s literally so obviously untrue and told by fans who never even watched the OS.

Don't make assumptions because of people we don't know. I've watched the show back when it was a fad and I see no shipping at all.

The lie that has to stop is people thinking the show actually cares about romance (of any kind) rather than selling plush toys or appealing to kids.

Like your ship all you want. It's your right after all but to say it's a fact or it exists is being as delusional as you are claiming people to be.

Anyway, I'm done. Feel free to want to continue it with PM or VM. Won't scratch my participation on this board for shipping of all things.

If you're referring to him claiming that Kasumi didn't have feelings for Satoshi [I'm paraphrasing since I don't have the actual blog post at the moment], then I have to admit that his comment has always seemed rather rude and unlike him given that he had some involvement in the second movie, and there was some blatant romantic tension in that movie. Whether or not it was meant to lead to something later is up for debate since a lot of things changed in the anime throughout the years, but Mr. Shudo acting as if Kasumi didn't like Satoshi as more than just a friend seemed far-sighted of him. Her jealousy/tsundere moments can't just be swept under the rug.
