Okay, some Gym Leader's teams flat out suck. Maybe because they occur too early in the game to be good (Misty) or they just don't use all the types for their gym avaliable. Either way, redesign someones team, with moves too. And mention why you changed the Pokémon. You can use all 386 (No D/P) Pokémon excluding legendaries. Here are two of mine.

Misty - Cerulean City (2 Pokémon - Staryu, Starmie)

- Swampert (Overcomes ******* electric types)
Earthquake - Death to electric types
Surf - STABed 95 Base Power
Ice Beam - Death to Grass types
Toxic? - Fun...

- Tentacruel
Sludge Bomb - Gwhahaha!
Hydro Pump
Giga Drain
Confuse Ray

Bugsy - Azalea Town (3 Pokémon - Metapod, Kakuna, Scyther)

Right before I do this, maybe you should know that my wuv of Bug Pokémon has always made me want to change Bugsy's team.

- Shuckle - Obvious tank.
Bide
Toxic
Sandstorm
???

Don't have any ideas for a last move.

- Heracross - The things I could use your horn for...
Megahorn!
Brick Break
Substitute
Focus Punch

- Shedinja - Got to be done.
Grudge
Shadow Ball
Fury Cutter
Return?

Well, those are moine. Have fun doing yours.

I r gud riter.
Cool thread idea.

Wallace.
Original team: Level 40 Luvdisc, level 42 Whiscash, level 40 Sealeo, level 42 Seaking, level 43 Milotic.

Tentacruel @ Liechi Berry (Level 40)
Sludge Bomb
Swords Dance
Hidden Power (Ground)
Mirror Coat

Sludge Bomb will beat up stuff with stab and swords dance. Mirror Coat will work with tentacruel's big special defense, and Hidden Power Ground will destroy steel types. Definetely an improvement, better than Luvdisc of course.

Swampert @ Chesto Berry (Level 42)
Curse
Rest
Earthquake
Surf

Earthquake gets STAB and deals a lot of damage with curse. Surf will get stuff earthquake doesn't hit, and rest will work nice with Chesto Berry.

Wailord (Level 40)

Water Spout
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Surf

I know this moveset sucks, but gym leaders can't always have awesome movesets for their pokemon, right? Water Spout will deal a bit of damage with STAB, surf at low hp, Earthquake for a bunch of damage, and Ice Beam for grass or flying types.

Gyarados (Level 42)
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Taunt
Hidden Power Flying

This is the Gyarados used by everyone. Dragon Dance to up high attack even more as well as speed, earthquake to damage and hidden power flying for STAB and flying types. Taunt messes up Calm Minders / Cursers / Bulk Uppers / etc.

Milotic (Level 43)
Hypnosis
Surf
Ice Beam
Hidden Power Grass

Hypnosis to put to sleep, surf for stab, ice beam for grass types, and hidden power grass for stuff like Swampert.

I think this is a much better party for Wallace, he definetely needed to get rid of Luvdisc and needed some better pokemon.

Elite Four Sidney Original team: Level 46 Mightyena, Level 48 Shiftry, Level 46 Cacturne, Level 48 Sharpedo, Level 49 Absol

Houndoom (Level 46, Petaya Berry)

Sunny Day
Flamethrower
Solarbeam
Crunch

Sunny day to boost flamethrowers attack power, and give solarbeam no charge up to beat water types. Crunch as a filler, it also gets STAB. Petaya to boost sweeping abilities when HP is low.

Cacturne (Level 46)

Substitute
Focus Punch
Leech Seed
Needle Arm

Substitute and focus punch to beat up a few things. Leech Seed and Substitute together gives you a great amount of subs to use. Needle Arm for STAB.

Umbreon (Level 48)
Double Team
Baton Pass
Faint Attack
Sand Attack

Sand attack and double team to make you miss, then baton pass the evasion to Absol. Faint Attack will be just there for an attacking move.

Sharpedo Level 48

Crunch
Return
Surf
Swagger

Swagger to raise opponents attack so they do more damage to themselves in confusion, Surf for stab, crunch for stab, and return for a nice physical move.

Absol Level 49

Swords Dance
Faint Attack
Snatch
Aerial Ace

Swords dance to raise attack, faint attack for stab and a not missing move, Snatch to steal stat uppers, and aerial ace to catch some other things.

Raden Surya

Abdidalem of Erika
I think Erika, the only Grass Gym Leader is weak. Her team must be changed:
Original team:Victrebell & Vileplume (lv29) and Tangela(lv24)
Bellossom
-Petal Dance
-Magical Leaf
-Poison Spore
-Giga Drain

Sunflora
-Sunny Day
-Solarbeam
-Leech Seed
-Giga Drain

Roselia
-Petal Dance
-Synthesis
-Toxic
-Giga Drain

Breloom (good against Ice)
-Stun Spore
-Counter
-Sky Uppercut
-Giga Drain

Cradily (good against Fire, Bug, Flying)
-Confuse Ray
-Earthquake
-Ancient Power
-Giga Drain

The Benmeister

Awesome. I love the Team you gave to her. It should be like this. I agree. I'd put Teddiursa somewhere, though. Maybe instead of Stantler. But good job nonetheless. :D

Pryce plz. His Team was crud, though that's not saying much. All the GSC Leaders were bad. Both for sheer lack of new Pokémon and their awfully managed spread. Pryce was weaker than Jasmine, whom was suppossedly BEFORE him in the line-up, for crying out loud! Let's fix this...

Delibird Lv. 34
Present
Icy Wind
Fly/Aerial Ace
Return

Dewgong Lv. 36
Surf
Icy Wind
Rest
Sleep Talk

Piloswine Lv. 38
Earthquake
Icy Wind
Amnesia/Blizzard
Rest

More later... maybe. :p

ChaosMage

Izit cuz I is black?
Guys, keep in mind that their teams have to be suitable at that point in the game, and not be powerful, fully evolved ones. Misty with a Swampert and a Tentacruel? WTF, mate...

ShadowKitsune

Care to Battle?
Eh...
Wattson. Way too many electric types. and weak level.

Current: Magneton, Electrike, Magnemite, Magnemite(I think...)
Redesigned:

Magneton lv36
-----------------
Thunderbolt
Tri-Attack
HP Water (covers ground and Fire)
Thunder Wave

Electrode Lv38
----------------
Rollout
Shock Wave
Selfdestruct
Light Screen

Lanturn Lv38
---------------
Surf
Thunder Wave
Water Pulse
Thunderbolt

It's a little better...maybe.

I just said redesign them, the fact that they occur too early in the game is the reason that some of them suck. Besides you can rebattle Gym Leaders on Emerald, so why couldn't these be re-battles too?

Dear God thank you for making this thread, I'm loving it!

Jasmine definetly needs a revamp on her team!!!!
Existing team (Lv. 30-Magnemite, Lv. 30-Magnemite, Lv. 35-Steelix)

Replace with---
(I'm leaving out lvl's becuase the Poke's I'm giving her arn't fit for the spot in the game nor the levels of her existing pokemon.)

Aggron--
Metal Claw
Iron Tail
Iron Defense
Protect

Steelix--
Rock Tomb
Iron Tail
Earthquake
HP-Water

Scizor--
Silverwind
Swords Dance
Baton Pass
Agility

Metagross--
Meteor Mash
Iron Defense
Psychic
Explosion

This is with Metagross being her main Pokemon...I personally believe this would be ana wesome but difficult set up, I put a little but not alot of thought into the move sets but I use em on some of my poke's and they seem to work fine....

Its hard to beat with charmander, squrtle and Pikachu. And so It fits with the "weak begining" theme all first Gymleaders have.

Most of the gym leader's use the same types...so if your team is strong against it, then... yah.

No kidding -they would suck!

I think Brock's kinda bad in Red and Blue-
but...he's really good in Joto though.

~Overall I think that the Gym leader's try to be powerful,
but not too powerful.
