REPOST: "Pokémon: Intensity" - Season 4 (Rated TV-14)

Well, while all my non-"Intensity" fanfics wither and die, I figure I might as well give you people the only thing you really want. Keep an eye open for more new episodes this season...

“Money Lies”
Episode 3ACP22
Original Airdate: 9/22/06
Guest Voice: Hal Sparks as Mondo

While hiding in an alley before a jewelry store heist, Jessie and James stake out a spot behind a Dumpster. There, Meowth spots a discarded coupon for Snikky Snax, his favorite brand of cat food, and keeps it. When they return from their mission, Giovanni assigns Jessie, James, and Meowth to a new branch of the Japanese Rocket organization – counterfeiting yen. They are allowed to work out of an abandoned warehouse, which Rocket agents have secretly built a printing press in. Jessie and James thoroughly enjoy their newest assignment, and divide the work into shifts – Meowth and Jessie print the false money while James distributes it. One evening, while Jessie and James tend to their van’s engine, Meowth realizes that he can use the printing press to duplicate his cat food coupon. When he does, Jessie and James are outraged. Meowth has wasted valuable paper and ink. When Giovanni gets wind of this, he takes Meowth off the counterfeiting program and returns him to regular Rocket duties. Meanwhile, Jessie and James receive a new partner for their counterfeiting scam – their formerly unseen apprentice Mondo. Now having to stick up banks and stores on his own, Meowth realizes that he can’t do it. Bursting in alone with a shotgun, nobody takes him seriously. Meanwhile, Jessie and James grow to hate Mondo’s style of work, always cheery and positive. While working the printing press, Jessie tries to convince Mondo that a decent Rocket agent takes their job seriously. Her persuasion works too well – Mondo tries to overtake Jessie and James’ mission singlehandedly. Reading the progress reports, Giovanni realizes that none of this is working out and takes Jessie and James off the counterfeiting mission as well. They return to their regular Class B duties, where Meowth apologizes for being selfish. Meanwhile, Mondo fails miserably at counterfeiting alone and is fired.

“Fishin’: Impossible”
Episode 3ACP18
Original Airdate: 9/29/06

Ash begins to develop stomach pains from being overworked at the bike shop. Al refuses to give him time off until Ash’s pain begins to hinder his work skills. Reluctantly, Al gives Ash a one-week vacation. Misty suggests that they should go on a trip for the week to ease Ash’s stress. They decide on a fishing trip at the Lake of Rage, which is something they both can enjoy – Ash can relax and Misty can catch more Water Pokémon. To ensure total privacy, they leave Pikachu and Togetic at a kennel. At the lake, they rent a cabin for the week, where Ash takes the opportunity to lie down while Misty sets out to fish. Back at the kennel, Pikachu and Togetic are outraged that they have been locked up. They befriend a rogue Sandshrew who has plans for busting out every Pokémon there. Meanwhile, at the lake, Misty is upset that she can’t catch anythin, despite having been so good at it years before. While Ash sleeps, she borrows 5000 yen from his wallet to rent a boat. She sails out to the center of the lake to see if the catchings are any better there, but when evening arrives, fog sets in and she cannot find her way back. By midnight she is still drifting in the boat and has still not caught anything. Misty’s biggest concern at this point is that she’s gotten so rusty in her Water Pokémon-handling skills that she can’t even catch Magikarp anymore. Frustrated, she pitches her tackle box overboard. As it sinks, it disturbs a wild Gyarados, who angrily surfaces. Tossed in the churning water, Misty can’t get to her Poké Balls in time, but is saved by Togetic and Pikachu, who have broken out of the kennel and made it to the lake. Back on land, Ash is relieved that Misty is safe and reassures her that even if she is losing her touch in training, she’s still greatly gifted in his opinion. On the way home, Misty conveniently avoids telling Ash about his mysteriously missing 5000 yen.

“Battle Scar Galactica”
Episode 4ACP01
Original Airdate: 10/20/06
Guest Voice: Will Ferrel as Machamp

Misty purchases a new coffeemaker online at the Goldenrod Department Store’s website. When the appliance is delivered, it turns out to be incredibly defective, and Ash and Misty take it in to the real store to return it. As Misty exchanges it, Ash wanders around the power tool department. While there, he happens to run into Richie, his old acquaintance from the Indigo Pokémon League Finals. Richie is still a professional trainer, and he is shocked to learn that Ash has retired. He tries to convince Ash to return to his old training position, but Ash refuses. That night, Ash mulls it over and discusses it with Gary and Brock, who have also retired. They both admit that Ash was a sensational trainer and that they wouldn’t mind if he took it up again. Ash decides to go through with it. He quits his job at the bike shop and travels to the Indigo Plateau to re-register, officially returning to what he does best. He is immediately inducted into the Elite Four, having beaten the Hoenn League already. Misty, however, dislikes this new development. As a trainer again, Ash must spend most of his time on the road, rarely coming home before midnight. Ash himself begins to grow weary from his new job, and even his Pokémon – who haven’t battled in nine years and are mostly very out of shape – think he’s made the wrong choice. However, quitting again would disappoint Richie greatly. Weighing his options, Ash realizes that he needs to spend more time with his fiancée and once again retires from the Pokémon League, returning to his bike shop job and going home to the woman he loves.

“Last Tango in Ecruteak City”
Episode 4ACP02
Original Airdate: 10/27/06
Guest Voices: Martin Sheen as Jon, Debra Messing as Linda

Ash and Misty receive an invitation to a formal party, but Ash refuses to go. He admits that he has no idea how to dance, and that he doesn’t want to make a fool of himself. Misty initially thinks Ash is being foolish and tries to teach him herself, but when she sees how lousy he is, she agrees that he needs professional lessons. The two of them sign up at the Ecruteak City Dance Hall for weekly lessons. There, they meet Jon and Linda Aoki, a married couple who develop an instant disliking of Ash and Misty. During the first lesson, Ash begins to get a hang of the basic movements, but Jon and Linda consider him to be far too inexperienced to ever master the steps. Ash and Misty leave their first lesson seething over their classmates’ personalities. They continue to go each week in an attempt to show Jon and Linda up. Jon and Linda tell Ash and Misty that they are entering a dance contest at the hall, and that there is no way anyone could beat them. Ash is outraged and enters himself and Misty in the contest in order to prove his adversaries wrong. He and Misty start taking extra lessons in order to develop the skills they need in time for the event. Before long, it becomes clear to Misty that Ash has let the competition obstruct the reason that he even joined the class in the first place – to learn to dance and have fun in the process. Ash realizes she’s right, but they still continue their training in order to prove to Jon and Linda that they can enjoy their lessons and still learn. On the night of the contest, Ash and Misty perform their best steps, but come in second to Jon and Linda. Naturally, they gloat, but Ash and Misty don’t care – deep down, they know they’re better than they are.

“Attack of the Clowns”
Episode 4ACP03
Original Airdate: 11/3/06

In the Ketchum house in Pallet Town, Delia accidentally trips down the basement steps and fractures her shin. Confined to the couch for a week, she becomes more reliant on Mimey, her Mr. Mime, than ever before. Eventually, the extra work begins to get to Mimey, who ultimately cracks under the pressure. At the end of the week when Delia is healed, he finally tells her off and quits. Mimey decides to look for work at Professor Oak’s laboratory, but Oak already has Tracey and does not need any extra help. Nevertheless, he has Mimey join Tracey as a “subordinate apprentice”. After several days, Mimey realizes that he’s not being given any real work to do. Outraged, he storms out again. He turns to the only other place he can find - Ash’s apartment. Ash willingly takes in Mimey, saying that he’s always wanted help around the house. Misty, however, is against the whole concept, claiming that Pokémon shouldn’t have to serve people. Ash points out that Pokémon battling is basically the same thing and keeps Mimey on board. But before long, Ash shows favoritism to Mimey for doing all the extra work around the apartment. This sets Pikachu off, who feels that Mimey’s trying to steal his position as Ash’s right-hand man. Pikachu voices this concern to Togetic, who takes it into her own hands to attack Mimey while his back is turned. Feeling that he’s not wanted there, Mimey returns to Delia’s house, and she willingly takes him back.

“Beach Blanket Boingo”
Episode 4ACP05
Original Airdate: 11/10/06

Ash decides the time has come for him to retrieve another one of his lost Pokémon. He settles on relocating his Lapras, regretting the fact that he only had it for about a year. That weekend, the weather around the regions is incredibly nice, so Ash and Misty decide to go to the Slateport Beach. Ash takes the opportunity to search for his Lapras, even though it was last seen in the Orange Islands. At the beach, Misty hangs out in the café for a while. There, she meets Mike Nishida, a professional surfer who spends most of his time in Slateport. They strike up a friendly conversation, but Ash returns. He believes that Mike is trying to put the moves on Misty and tells him that they’re leaving. At home, Misty is upset that Ash jumped to conclusions, and Ash apologizes. Nonetheless, he still doesn’t trust Mike when he comes by the apartment building “just to say hi”. Misty reassures Ash that Mike is only a new friend, and Ash tries to put it out of his mind. He returns to searching for his Lapras, but he still has no idea where it would be. Meanwhile, Mike tells Misty that he will be competing in a surfing competition and would be honored if she came to watch. Misty agrees, but Ash insists on coming with her to keep an eye on Mike. Back at the Slateport Beach, Ash continues his search while Misty watches Mike at work. Afterwards, Mike pulls Misty aside and tries to convince her that Ash is no good for her, that he would be the better man. Appalled, Misty runs for it and finds Ash, telling him that he was right about Mike after all. Mike sets out on the waves again, saying that he can get any other girl with his skills – but at that moment, Ash’s Lapras shows up, bashing Mike’s board out from under him and putting him in the hospital. Afterwards, Ash adds Lapras back onto his team.

“The Day After Yesterday”
Episode 4ACP04
Original Airdate: 11/17/06

Winter is coming to the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn regions. Ash hears a special report on the news where Pryce, the leader of the Mahogany Town Gym, is interviewed. Pryce claims that this winter will be the worst in Japanese history, but as such a senile old man he isn’t taken seriously. Ash and Misty, however, notice that the weather conditions are getting cloudier and realize that they are totally unprepared for the approaching snow. To get pointers, Ash, Misty, Pikachu, and Togetic head off to Mahogany to see Pryce in person. After they get through the gym itself, Pryce lectures them on their carelessness and tells them everything they should have done. Eventually, Ash realizes that Pryce is far too old to be making sense and tries to leave – but snow has begun and the gym doors have frozen shut. All five of them are locked inside. As Ash and Pikachu try to find another way out of the building, Misty and Togetic help Pryce in his specially desgned “ice shelter”, filled with food, clothing, and a heating system. Naturally, Togetic does nothing to help – until Pryce gives her a talking-to about participating and she reluctantly joins in. Misty is pleased that Togetic seems to have lost her apathy at last. On the main floor, Pikachu begins to develop a case of “cabin fever” until Ash sends out Charizard and Typholsion, who blast the doors with their Fire Spin attacks. Finally free, Ash and Misty drive home through the blizzard, stopping at the Goldenrod Department Store for supplies. Back in the security of the warm apartment, however, Togetic is once again her moody, unhelpful self.

“A Few Pretty Good Men”
Episode 4ACP06
Original Airdate: 11/24/06

Giovanni begins to worry that his current agent employment level is dwindling. As more agents retire, Giovanni becomes more concerned that Team Rocket is becoming smaller. He decides to start a new agent recruitment program, and assigns Jessie and James the position of recruiters. Disguised as average citizens, they first travel to southern Kanto, where they meet up with Damian, the abusive trainer whose Charmander left him to be with Ash. Damian leaps at the idea of being a Rocket agent, saying that he’s always believed in the acquisition of power regardless of the cost. They then travel to the Vermilion City ports to find Nastina and Brutella, the twin sisters who tried to oust the Tentacool from the port years ago. They also sign up, having been Rocket supporters their whole lives. Outside Fuschia City, they run into Dario, the Pokémon rancher whom Ash beat in the Laramie Ranch Race 17 years back, and he also gets on board. They then track down the owners of the amateur Yas and Kas gyms, both of whom agree to join the agency. Finally, they reunite with Chopper and Tara, the motorcycle punks in the Bridge Bike Gang, and they all return to Giovanni’s base ready to work. Giovanni is overjoyed and immediately starts their training. Jessie and James coach the new recruits in the art of the perfect heist, showing them how to wield their guns with precision and what to do in case of a police ambush. After several weeks of training, the new agents are ready to begin. But Giovanni’s six-rank system keeps all the new recruits restrained to Class F missions. Outraged, the new agents demand missions of Jessie and James’ magnitude and cry favoritism, ultimately rebelling against their new boss and quitting. Jessie and James reassure their boss that Team Rocket will not run out of agents anytime soon.

Realizing that his small sole proprietorship can’t compete, Brock closes his gym down and moves in with his dad, Flint – as well as his ten siblings. Left with no job, Brock calls Ash and tells him what has happened. Flint is too old to take a new job and Brock cannot find another job opening. When the family’s savings dwindle, Ash comes to the rescue. He talks Al into giving Brock a job at the bike shop. Brock readily accepts, but the commute is too far from Pewter to Goldenrod. To make things easier, the whole family moves into Ash’s apartment building, and Brock becomes Ash and Misty’s new roommate. Ash and Pikachu are pleased, saying that things will be “just like the old days”, but after several days, Brock discovers a conflict – he is attracted to Misty. Knowing Ash would flip out if he knew his best friend was eyeing his fiancée, Brock tries to keep it quiet. But the pressure begins to get to him. During one afternoon, Brock accidentally walks into the bathroom as Misty is exiting the shower. Though Misty covers up and apologizes, Brock admits to Ash that he can’t live in the apartment anymore. Ash is crestfallen that his friend is leaving, especially with no decent job. “Lady Sketchit’s Lover”
Episode 4ACP08
Original Airdate: 12/22/06

Ash decides to accompany Tracey to a singles’ bar to see just what it is he’s doing wrong. At the bar, Ash observes Tracey’s behavior around women, noting how overly excited he gets and the odd topics of conversation he introduces. When he notices Tracey looking absentmindedly at one of the male bartenders, Ash diagnoses Tracey’s problem – he’s gay. Tracey refuses to believe it and returns home, feeling that he can get Melanie back and prove Ash wrong. But during the next several nights, Tracey has unsettling dreams involving other men. He shakes it off initially, figuring he’s just letting Ash’s words get to him, but after a week he is genuinely worried. In desperation, he calls Melanie and insists that he was an idiot on their last date, promising not to make any more mistakes. Melanie agrees to another date, in which Tracey tries his best to play it cool. It works until Melanie invites him into her house. On the verge of going to bed together, Tracey realizes that he feels no sexual attraction towards Melanie whatsoever. He tells her this, and disgusted, she throws him out. Tracey calls Ash back and finally admits that he was right; he is gay after all, and had never realized it before. Ash tells him it’s nothing to be ashamed of, but nonetheless, Tracey decides to keep it a secret in public…for now.

“Mother Knows Zilch”
Episode 4ACP09
Original Airdate: 1/5/07
Guest Voice: Doris Roberts as Jessie’s mother

Giovanni sends Jessie and James to Saffron City on their next mission. They are instructed to hit the Saffron Bank, which they do with precision – but on the way out, Jessie runs into a familiar face. Her mother had been making a withdrawal when they burst in for the robbery. A tense moment occurs, but Jessie’s mother admits that the last time they met was not too memorable. She wants to set things right and start over, but Jessie knows better. She does not want to be involved with a mother who doesn’t accept her occupation. During the getaway, Jessie and James are tailed by the police and are forced to hide out in an abandoned apartment building for the night. That evening, Jessie tells James that her biological mother, Miyamoto, was a much better mother than the woman her father remarried. James tells her that if her mom wants to make up for what happened the last time they met, she should give her a chance. Jessie thinks about it, and the next day she returns to her parents’ house for a talk. There, Jessie’s mother agrees to forgive her daughter for her decisions in life, but Jessie insists that she doesn’t want forgiveness – she wants acceptance. Her mom agrees to acknowledge the fact that Jessie works for Team Rocket. After they’ve made up, Jessie’s mom asks if Jessie can move in with the family. James and Meowth don’t like the sound of it, but Jessie is all for it – until she discovers the strings attached. If she moves, she’ll have to resign from Team Rocket. Once more outraged that her mom doesn’t accept her for who she is, Jessie officially disowns her as a mother and leaves her family behind. James assures her that it’s better not to be associated with people like that. Back at headquarters, Jessie spends her time in the break room, wishing that she had a real mother again.

NEW EPISODE
“Back to the Losers”
Episode 4ACP10
Original Airdate: 1/19/07
Guest Voices: Jon Lovitz as Weezing, Jason Mewes as Victreebel

Jessie and James begin to worry that they may be neglecting their Pokémon too much. Neither one of them have caught anything new in quite some time, and their current teams get very little exposure in their heists. Trying to think of which Pokémon would be good additions to their teams, they get the idea to retrieve the four Pokémon that they released over the years - Arbok, Weezing, Lickitung, and Victreebel. Upon requesting a week off from Giovanni, Jessie and James set off to find their former teammates. They first discover Arbok and Weezing in a forested area of Hoenn, no longer guardians of the Ekans and Koffing, who have learned to fend for themselves. In the Johto region, James tracks down Victreebel in the wild and adds it back to his lineup. However, Jessie has difficulty finding the trainer whom she accidentally traded her Lickitung to in exchange for Wobbuffet. Since Wobbuffet has no recollection of his previous trainer, Jessie must use the rest of her downtime trying to search for him. She puts Arbok in James’ care, requesting that he train him until she gets back. James and Meowth return to the Rocket base, ready to get back to work. However, James discovers that Arbok, Weezing, and Victreebel have gotten incredibly rusty over the years, being in the wild and having nothing to do. Their ineptitude costs them the first heist that they participate in. James decides to have Cacturne, Murkrow, Chimecho, Houndoom, and Pupitar give his returning recruits a lesson in how to perpetuate crimes. But try as they might, nothing works. When James attempts a heist on a convenience store to show his regained Pokémon the ropes himself, the cashier reacts to his intrusion by pulling a shotgun on him. James’ Chimecho attempts to stop the cashier with Confusion, but it hits Arbok by mistake, who confusedly spits out Acid that hits James’ gun and renders it useless. As the cashier prepares to shoot, Jessie bursts in with her recaptured Lickitung, who has received far more experience in the hands of a trainer and beats the cashier to a pulp. Returning to base successful, Jessie and James congratulate their newly regained Pokémon and look forward to utilizing them again.

“You Can’t Do That on Radio”
Episode 4ACP11
Original Airdate: 2/9/07

The Goldenrod radio station launches a call-in talk show on weekday mornings. Ash listens to it every morning on his way to work and is amazed at the ridiculous opinions people have when they call. One morning, he calls the station from his cell phone and goes on a diatribe, voicing everything he thinks about the “boneheads” who have called in the past week. The host, Mary, is impressed with Ash’s radical views and asks him to start his own talk show at the station. Ash thinks it over with Misty, who considers it a good chance for him to vent his opinions about everything. He agrees and goes down to the station. The chairman of the building gives Ash less than he’d hoped, starting him out as Mary’s cohost. Nonetheless, as soon as Ash joins the show, ratings jump almost 50%. Impressed with how persuasive Ash can be, the chairman gives him his own show, taking Mary’s timeslot and moving Mary to the afternoon. Ash is pleased with this and pledges to his listeners that he’ll always be willing to accept their calls. Misty listens to Ash every morning, but soon notices problems. Ash begins to voice more controversial opinions, taking swipes at the Japanese government and taking every chance he gets to make crude jokes about the Americans. The trashier Ash gets, the more the ratings skyrocket, but the radio chairman is upset with Ash’s program. He ultimately fires Ash and replaces him with Mary again. Back home, Misty suggests that Ash is better suited to voicing his opinions from the other side of the radio.

“The Kids Stay In the Picture”
Episode 4ACP12
Original Airdate: 2/16/07

Ash and Misty notice that their Pokémon are getting surlier than ever. Pikachu and Togetic refuse to do anything they’re told, and the other members of their team refuse to leave their Poké Balls. Ash theorizes that they need to roam around and experience the outdoors. To help them out, he and Misty take their teams to the daycare center south of Goldenrod. To ensure that their Pokémon will be outdoors long enough, Ash and Misty agree to leave Pikachu, Charizard, Venusaur, Feraligatr, Crawdaunt, Swellow, Togetic, Starmie, Golduck, Kingdra, Seaking, and Politoed there for a week. Back at the apartment alone, Ash and Misty take the opportunity to have a romantic, intimate week, “free of the kids”. At the daycare, Pikachu and the others are infuriated that their trainers would abandon them for so long and plan to break out. Their plans come to a halt when they meet their “inmates” – their own opposite gender counterparts. Before long, the Pokémon are having just as interesting a week as Ash and Misty are. But it is afterwards that Pikachu makes a horrible discovery. What they thought were attractive Pokémon was actually a fleet of Ditto in disguise. When Ash and Misty come back to pick up their teams, they make a discovery of their own. All of their Pokémon have produced eggs, and with the Ditto gone, they hatch. Ash and Misty have no choice but to take in the new baby equivalents of their own Pokémon. Bedlam ensues in the apartment, with the uncontrollable children tearing around all the time. Things are especially difficult for Togetic, discovering the horrors of teenage motherhood as she cares for two baby Togepi. Eventually, Ash and Misty cannot take any more, but can’t bring themselves to abandon the babies either. Ultimately, they transfer them to Professor Oak’s lab, allowing him to give them away as starter Pokémon to young trainers.

“Super Waterflower Sis.”
Episode 4ACP13
Original Airdate: 2/23/07

At the Cerulean City Gym, Misty’s sisters find that they are struggling financially. Too many trainers have beaten them in the past year, and their money loss is beginning to catch up with them. Violet spearheads a new training regimen to toughen the Water Pokémon of the gym while Lily and Daisy schedule daily underwater ballets to raise their income. But despite their best efforts, their opponents on the battlefield are too strong, while public interest in the ballets diminishes. Refusing to close the gym, Violet suggests that all three of them start part-time jobs to earn more money. The three begin their job search, but none of them are able to keep a position for very long, as they are more experienced at training than at anything else. Violet calls Misty to tell her the problem, and Misty suggests that they take jobs at the bike shop Ash works at. Ash initially refuses, having never liked Misty’s sisters very much, but when he realizes how much Misty cares about them, he relents. The girls begin their work as stockpersons, working alongside Ash. All four of them are very resentful of this, and Al is very displeased by the girls’ ineptitude at sorting and shelving merchandise. Ash is also personally put off by the total lack of respect the girls have for their job, continually complaining that they have to work too hard. Ash asks Al to fire them, but Al cannot – Misty has made him promise to give them as long as they need to earn their extra money. Instead, Al gives them all insanely high raises, allowing the girls to retire prematurely and return to the gym. Ash is relieved that his job can return to normal, until he discovers that the girls’ raises came out of his own salary.

“Ketchum If You Can”
Episode 4ACP14
Original Airdate: 3/2/07
Guest Voice: Stephen Colbert as reporter Armond Mitsumune

Ash and Misty stop at a new teashop one afternoon. There, they meet Jack Urashima, a friendly man whom they strike up a conversation with. Jack is new in Goldenrod and he invites Ash and Misty to his housewarming party at his new apartment on the other side of town. Ash and Misty readily accept, and Jack gives them the directions to where he lives. The next night, they take Pikachu and Togetic along with them to the party, despite their reluctance. They introduce Jack to their Pokémon and have an enjoyable time. At the end of the night, Ash and Misty set off back to the apartment in Ash’s car. Halfway back to the apartment, they are suddenly followed by a police car. When Ash stops, Officer Jenny informs him that he’s driving a stolen vehicle. Ash realizes that it isn’t his car at all – someone at the party had an identical 2005 Toyota Gyoza that Ash believed was his own and drove off in. Now that the car has been reported stolen, Ash races back to Jack’s apartment to return it, but the directions blow out the open window. Believing that Ash is making a run for it, Jenny gives chase and calls for backup from other officers. Ash cannot remember where Jack’s apartment was and is even more shocked to find the Goldnerod police still on his tail. Desperate to shake them off, he makes a sharp turn onto the highway, heading for Ecruteak City where the Goldenrod police can’t do anything to him. Misty insists that they just turn the car around and explain what really happened, but Ash knows they won’t believe him. As he tells Misty this, he takes his eyes off the road and sideswipes another car, spinning out of control and hitting the median. Surrounded by the cops, Ash exits the car and tells them the whole story. Realizing that the car was not intentionally stolen, Ash is allowed to return the car to its rightful owner. He also reluctantly pays for the repairs to it.

Episode 4ACP15
Original Airdate: 3/9/07
Guest Voice: Andy Serkis as Pupitar, Kevin Spacey as Tyranitar

Reviewing recent progress reports, Giovanni finds that James is actually doing better that Jessie in their missions. He calls James into his office and congratulates him on his progress, then offers him a promotion to Class A. James is unsure at first, knowing that Jessie would not be promoted with him and that they would have no more missions together. He talks it over with Jessie, who feels that if he thinks he can handle the highest Rocket rank available, then it’d be a good move. They would still be able to see each other between missions and outside of work. James decides to accept the offer. Officially made a Class A agent, James receives even more missions than before, missions that now include robbing the homes of innocent families. But as he expected, he sees Jessie less and less. The separation begins to put a strain on their marriage, and eventually Jessie has to ask James what really matters more to him – his rank or his wife. James has plans to keep his A rank for a bit longer in order to make more money, then return to Class B and use his pay to buy Jessie some of the nice things she’d always wanted. Outraged that James still wants to keep his rank rather than return to his old one and see her again, Jessie severely tells him off. She declares that if he can’t make up his mind by the end of the week, she’ll leave him. James is caught in a serious dilemma, and without Meowth to confide in, he asks his other Pokémon what to do. Pupitar tells him that he should always put Jessie first, but James finds it hard to take Pupitar seriously. Pupitar force-evolves itself into a towering Tyranitar. Its new roaring attitude convinces James to return to Class B, where he and Jessie make up.

Shortly after, he gets some horrifying news – his parents from the Orange Islands are taking a vacation to the Kanto region and are coming up to Pallet Town to meet him. Tracey desperately plays the dating scene looking for a girlfriend in the week before his parents arrive, but the girls he meets all see through his attempts and recognize that he’s gay. He has no choice but to return to Melanie and ask her again. She finally agrees, but only on the condition that he never speak to her again afterwards. When Mr. and Mrs. Sketchit arrive at Oak’s lab, Tracey and Melanie greet them. They continually kiss in front of them, and for a while his parents and Oak are fooled. Before long, though, Tracey’s guilt at concealing his secret begins to catch up with him. During dinner one evening, Tracey cracks under the pressure and finally comes out to both his parents and Professor Oak. Feeling as if a huge load is finally off his shoulders, Tracey overcomes his fear of his homosexuality.

EDIT: I just realized I accidentally credited Heidi Swedberg to three episodes instead of two. Just ignore what I said in Season 3's "The Importance of Being Tracey".

Episode 4ACP16
Original Airdate: 4/6/07

Ash orders a new satellite cable service that allows him to receive channels from across the world. Despite the new signals he now gets, Ash refuses to watch any of the “kooky” American networks. Shortly after, he awakens one night to find that Misty, Pikachu, and Togetic are up watching the American comedy network in secret. Ash goes on a diatribe about the lackluster qualities of the American television audience and the “unadulterated crap” they put out. But when he surfs through the channels to prove his point, he comes across one of the American sports networks as it is showing a football game. Mysteriously intrigued, Ash watches the remainder of the game with a newfound respect for American culture. In the following days, Ash makes time to catch all the football games he can, claiming that the sport is intoxicating to him. He decides to introduce the game to his friends. Brock, Gary, and Richie all find the sport entertaining as well, and Ash has them over every Sunday to watch the big games directly from the USA. Misty, however, is upset with Ash. He begins to spend more time watching his sports than he does with her. Ash reads up on football and learns about the Super Bowl, which will be played in a few weeks’ time. To commemorate the event, he invites the guys over for an American-style tailgate party. As he prepares for the game, he pays absolutely no attention to Misty. Outraged, she pulls Ash aside and tells him how obsessed he has become with something he claimed he hated just a few months ago. Ash’s eyes are suddenly opened to what he has become and he calls off the party. The next day, he officially cancels all the American channels from his cable lineup and returns to his old self.

“Whacked Out”
Episode 4ACP18
Original Airdate: 4/20/07
Guest Voice: Colin Mochrie as Frankie C

During one of their bank robberies, Jessie and James are suddenly ambushed by the police. They narrowly escape, and once back at the Viridian City Gym they wonder how the cops could have known in advance that they would be hitting the bank. Two days later it happens again. Jessie and James ask Giovanni if he knows what’s going on, and Giovanni notes that the same thing has happened to several other Rocket agents in the past weeks – in fact, many of his best agents have been arrested as a result. Jessie and James come to the conclusion that a Rocket agent must be leaking information to the police. Giovanni agrees and gives them permission to secretly spy on other agents to see who might be responsible. Jessie and James pull up all the information on every Rocket agent in Japan based at the Viridian Gym and narrow it down to five or six prime suspects, all of them in the upper classes of the Rocket ranks. They and Meowth set out to investigate, but find no information. Just as it seems that they will never find their squealer, Meowth spots an agent giving the coordinates of another agent’s next mission to Officer Jenny. Jessie and James are shocked to see that the squealer is Frankie C, a meek and nervous F Class agent who hasn’t been promoted once in the 20 years he’s spent as a Rocket. When they relay this information back to Giovanni, he deduces that the only way to stop him is to have him “whacked”, and he sends Jessie and James to do the job. They follow Frankie on his next mission in Celadon City. When he realizes he’s being tailed, he makes a run for it, but Jessie, James, and Meowth are in hot pursuit. They split up in an alley and James tracks Frankie to the subway. Cornering him with his gun to his head, James asks Frankie why he did it. Frankie snaps, admitting that he wanted revenge on Giovanni for never promoting him. James still must kill him, but Frankie runs for it again – and trips into the path of an oncoming subway train. Their squealer disposed of, Jessie, James, and Meowth head back to base, knowing their jobs are secure yet again.

Trying to order takeout food from her favorite restaurant by phone, Misty dials the wrong number by mistake. Instead, she gets the Goldenrod Radio Station, where DJ Reed tells her that she is the lucky 25th caller. Wondering what in the world she just won, she is surprised to learn that her prize is a week-long cruise for two. When Ash gets home from work, Misty tells him what happened and the two eagerly pack their things for the trip. The only problem is that Misty only won two tickets; Pikachu and Togetic can’t come with them. With the Goldenrod Day Care closed for insect fumigation, Ash and Misty have no choice but to leave their Pokémon home alone. Before they leave that weekend, Ash and Misty tell Pikachu and Togetic to behave and follow the rules they left for them. Once their trainers are gone, Pikachu and Togetic take immediate advantage of their freedom. They raid the kitchen, watch as much TV as they want, and stay up late making prank calls to people they pick out of the phone book. Pikachu takes some of the food money Ash left and uses it to rent a DVD. Downtown at the video store, Togetic and Pikachu pick out the scariest horror film they can find. Back at the apartment, they watch the movie all the way through, staying up hours past their normal bedtimes. Once they are done, Togetic finds that she can’t get to sleep. The movie has made her paranoid, and she fears that some creature may be in the apartment. Instead, she stays up all night, guarding the front door. When Pikachu awakens for a midnight snack, he sees Togetic at the door and explains that there’s nothing to worry about. Suddenly, they both hear creaking on the stairs outside in the hall. Pikachu realizes that Togetic’s fears may not be crazy after all, flings the door open, jumps into the hall, and fires a Thunderbolt attack at the thing on the stairs. He then realizes that it was Leonard, the landlord. Togetic phones for help and Leonard is taken to the hospital. When Ash and Misty return, a shaken Leonard tells them what happened while they were gone. Ash and Misty angrily vow never to leave Pikachu and Togetic home alone again.

While in the break room after another successful mission, Jessie and James once again meet up with Butch and Cassidy. To Jessie and James’ great delight, their rivals have been demoted to Class D since the last time they saw them. This hardens Jessie and James’ resolve to work towards their Class A promotion. Butch and Cassidy are extremely fed up with Jessie and James’ taunts, and they try to think up another way to get them fired. Cassidy comes up with the plan to switch their progress reports after each mission in order to make Jessie and James look bad. The next day, Jessie and James stick up a jewelry store and steal 40 cases of fine diamonds while Butch and Cassidy fail to rob a Poké Mart. Back at headquarters, Butch swaps the reports successfully. When Giovanni reads Jessie and James’ report, he demotes them to Class C for not doing their mission and failing at what they did do. Cassidy tells Butch that they only have to do this four more times and Jessie and James will be gone. After the next swap, Jessie and James find themselves in Class D, where Cassidy’s plan hits a snarl – she, Butch, Jessie, and James are all sent on the same mission together. On the way there, Jessie learns that Cassidy is trying to get them fired again and is infuriated. At the Poké Mart they are supposed to rob, Jessie and James successfully perform their easy mission while Butch and Cassidy stumble all over themselves. Heading back to base, Jessie and James tell Butch and Cassidy that their plan has backfired, but Cassidy insists that she has more tricks up her sleeve. Back at headquarters, Giovanni is pleased with how well Jessie and James have done, and Butch angrily accuses Jessie and James of cheating. But then Meowth whips out a tape recorder – he had recorded Cassidy telling Jessie her new slew of schemes to get them demoted. Giovanni returns Jessie and James to Class B, and Butch and Cassidy wind up in Class E, more miserable than ever before.

Guest Voice: Jeff Goldblum as the Vermilion Fan Club president

Ash feels the time has come to move out of the apartment into a nicer home. His income at the bike shop has grown much in the past years to the point where, added to the money he has in the bank, he no longer has to work there. Ash asks Misty where she would like to live, but Misty doesn’t want to leave Goldenrod City at all. She’s happy where she is, but when Ash shows her some of the houses he’s found for sale, she realizes that the apartment isn’t all it could be. Misty agrees to help Ash search for a new house for the both of them. They realize that they’ll need a big house if they’re going to get married soon. They also decide to move somewhere in the Kanto region in order to be closer to their friends and families. Eventually, they settle on a nice two-story home in Vermilion City. As they prepare to leave the apartment for good, they bid goodbye to May, Max, and Gary, promising to keep in touch. Ash resigns from his bike shop job, and Al wishes him good luck in Kanto. Finally, he and Misty pack their belongings and leave the Goldenrod Arms Apartment Complex behind. Upon arriving in their new home, Ash immediately sets out to look for a new job as Misty, Pikachu, and Togetic accustom themselves to their new town. Misty takes up a membership at the Vermilion Pokémon Fan Club in order to meet new people. Meanwhile, Ash finds a job working at the docks where the S.S. Aqua is stationed. Eventually, they both realize that they don’t fit in around here and reverse their decision. Moving back to Goldenrod City, they settle back into their old apartment, deciding to wait until they are married to move into a bigger place.

“Ash and Misty’s Sick and Twisted Animation Festival”
Episode 4ACP31
Original Airdate: 8/23/07

In a fourth-wall-breaking half-hour special, Ash and Misty, seated in director’s chairs against a backstage setting, briefly discuss the history of animation. Explaining that animation has deeper roots in America than it does in Japan, they then showcase three short subjects that satirize the golden age of American theatrical animation.
“An Innocent Mouse-take”: In a parody of the classic MGM “Tom and Jerry” cartoons, Meowth is a mute and lazy tomcat owned by May, who is only seen from the shoulders down (like Mammy Two-Shoes). May tells Meowth that he must earn his right to keep staying in the house by catching mice. Meowth sets off into the kitchen and encounters Pikachu raiding the fridge. An extended cat-and-mouse chase ensues, during which Pikachu always gains the upper hand by walloping Meowth will all means of weapons, including frying pans, shovels, and samurai swords. A bruised and battered Meowth eventually leaves the house of his own free will.
“How To Be a Pokémon Trainer”: A play on Disney’s classic “How To” series featuring Goofy, this short stars Max as an eager Pokémon trainer, with Brock filling in as the offscreen narrator. Max enters the wild equipped with his starting Pokémon, a Bulbasaur. Encountering a wild Zigzagoon, Max finds that his Bulbasaur doesn’t consider him a worthy trainer and attacks him instead. Brock the narrator explains that trainers must earn their Pokémon’s love and respect, so Max does everything he can to bring Bulbasaur closer to him, including power ups and Rare Candies. Instead, he induces a premature evolution, and Ivysaur is even more disobedient. As it attacks Max, both of them hit a tree trunk, causing a Pineco to fall from the branches and knock the wild Zigzagoon unconscious. Max promptly catches it.
“Togetic Tirade”: In a send-up of the classic Warner Bros. short “Duck Amuck” starring Daffy Duck, Togetic finds herself in an out of control environment. First her background fades away to blank nothingness. When she orders it to be repainted, it is done in an angular UPA style. She tries to make the best of it but soon finds herself moving in a limited fashion like a Hanna-Barbera character. Demanding to be animated at a rate of 24 frames per second, she gets her wish, but is placed in a new environment, redrawn as a Western bandit atop a speeding train. Upon getting flattened when the train passes through a tunnel, she demands an anime storyline and is promptly put in a situation resembling “Gundam Wing”. Avoiding laser blasts from giant robots, Togetic is finally put in a Pokémon stadium, and is beaten into submission by a twenty-story Wooper. She recovers and has a frank discussion with her animator, only to have the shapes on her body erased. She is them drawn in midair above a deep desert canyon, but flies towards the other cliff. Naturally her wings are erased and she plummets to the ground. Again in front of blankness, she screamingly demands to know who her animator is, but a hole is drawn beneath her feet and she falls out of sight. The camera wides back to reveal Ash as the mystery man, who receives a scolding from Misty for putting Togetic through such paces.
