I don't get the writing in this series, Ash seems so inconsistent and weak. Seriously how he fought initially with Pikachu was just horrible, not even trying to use electric attacks. And sending out just Riolu which is super weak while he also has a Dragonite and a Gengar? Also disappointed in the Rocket elites, they were a lot more intimidating in Sun and Moon in the Necrozma arc, here they just used nets and cages and flew off, it's just standard Jessie/James/Meowth stuff they did. Aside from not blasting off you could just replace them with the regular Rockets and not change a thing. This just nerfs them so much, I don't get why they don't just use Jessie/James/Meowth here instead and leave the elite Rockets for episodes where they actually have to have a competent threat. And not impressed either with how easy everything seems to be for Go whenever the episode isn't about him. Legendary super giant Magikarp that hundreds of trainers look for eons for at that lake, but Go finds and catches it in a few minutes episode time with no biggies and James's lure. When was James ever even remotely built up as someone who knows anything about fishing? Lana had more trouble reeling in Totem Wishiwashi, she's actually good at fishing, and they actually gave a reason there why it bit there. This just happens for no reason. And then the battle, just Sleep Powder and that's it...
This series seems to take so many shortcuts everywhere, there is the sporadic good battle like in the Vermillion Gym but so much is just rushed, they don't even bother giving our main Team Rocket their own pokémon anymore.
