HD stands for high definintion, all the next gen consoles exept the revo will be using it. Do you think this was a good move by nintendo?

I personally think that there should be HD. ( i dont have a HD TV)

The argument against it is that only 20% of people have HD and the other 80% will be paying more for a console that they can't even use to its full standard.

I think it was a wrong move

No, I don't want it to go HD. ED is enough of an upgrade.

to use a hd console, you need a hd compatable tv, which, many tvs in bedrooms arent, and many parents dont allow the children to use their consoles in the main room, so its a VERY good move

well thats you opinion, plus you could get a HD revolution and put it in your room you dont need a HD TV.... or even in your computers monitor

It may be enough but to other people they would look at weather the Ps3 has HD and then theyll see the Revo's ED graphics, obviously side by side the Ps3 would look better and they would go for it. This HD thing is decreasing the popularity of the revolution and could mean the final nail in nintendo's coffin.

(I still like nintendo though...)

x-box 360 doesnt look TOO much different in terms of graphics unless you have the HD tv, not many people have HD TV (well none i know)

so i think it was a good move by nintendo not to make it HD

I don't really care. As long as it works and the graphics look decent, I'm happy. Graphics really don't matter. It's the gameplay that counts and that's practically what Nintendo specialises in.

I think not. Many are wondering what is the downside. The downside is an increase in money. Painful I know. Nintendo also gets an advantage since most poeple use a Tv that lacks HD. It was good one. Also HD causes more longer loading with the increase in pixels. It was a smart move, and mighty good one.

I hope its not HD. I'm not to bothered about the graphics, and I can't be shelling out for a new TV at the same time as buying a console. x_x

It was a smart move by Nintendo. The majority of people don't even have HD TVs, so why should Nintendo waste money on making it HD if not even the majority of the people will use it. I think it was a smart move and a nice money saver.

Final nail in Nintendo's coffin... why do people use symbolic talk just to sound cool? That kind of stuff sounds more dumb than it does respectable...

ED and HD isn't going to change too many people's choices when it comes to a $200 system that is ED and a $350 system that is HD. None of those are confirmed, but $350 is the lowest speculated price for the PS3 so far, and $200 is the highest for the Revolution so far.

Besides, have you been believing the words of every Nintendo hater you come across? Nintendo doesn't even have a coffin. They're still profitting more than Sony and Microsoft. If anything, they're doing this to prevent a coffin from being built around them, if you want to speak symbolically.

Also keep in mind that the HD feature isn't even going to be used by all of Sony's public which have an HD TV. A lot of Sony's fanbase is technologically challenged casual gamers that think you just plug in the AV cables and that's it.

And Sony doesn't want you to be shelling out for a new TV. It's not like they won't have AV cables you can use.

Actually $400.00 is the lowest speculated price. This is why I probably won't buy a PS3 and instead buy a 360 or a revolution. Some analysists expect it's price to be as high as $800 while the majority say it will be $500.00. Sony is a niche market though, they almost always have their product at a higher price than the competition and it still sells like crazy ($5000 sony 60 inch HDTV flat panel television compared to $3000 samsung 60 inch HDTV flat panel television, $300 playstation vs. $200 N64, $200 for a 512MB network walkman vs. $100 512MB ipod shuffle (and apple usually sells expensive products too)). They usually sell mainly on name though. I do want HDTV support, however, because we have a HDTV in my living room with 720p resolution, I think nintendo might add it secretly to the revolution like when they secretly took it out of the cube.

High definition is just a fad.

Um, no it's not. That's like saying DVDs are just a fad or color TVs are just a fad. This is the next big step. Why do you think Congress is requiring all TVs to have HD-support to continue watching TV by 2007?

Umm.... because the number of new television channels is outweighing the capacity of the current standard analog system and to counteract this, all stations are turning to digital which in turn requires new televisions to be made to accept the digital format. Almost all (if not all) HDTVs support the digital format, therefore providing a clearer screen as well as access to the new standard format of television whereas older t.vs will be obsolete, needing a converter box to switch from digital to analog. Either way, it's going to be extremely expensive for homes with more than one t.v. that would need to either switch to all HDtvs or buy a bunch of converter boxes or a mix.

Simply put: The switch from analog to digital requires new t.vs to be digital compatible. Most, if not all, HDtvs are digital compliant.

even though i dont have any/much backup I say its a good move, like graphics arent required to make a game excellent, the only thing graphics are good for is online LAN(local area network) games.where graphics seems to have huge impact, but for revolution its a great move.

anyway, heres a pic of some perfect revo power
nintendo-revolution-2.jpg

its good isnt it?
it can support 4 wireless revo controllers and 2 gamecube controllers, its nice and portable looking, not for the other half of it though lol.
the gamecube disc goes nicely into that slice half way through the console otherwise it says revo games are cartridges,im not sure if its true though.

DVDs and colour tv bring something new though, as long as I can watch tv in the way I have been doing for the past 19 years I don't care. I don't want to see peoples individual hair and stuff like that and I don't think most of the world cares either. I don't live in america so congress can't force me to do anything. As a nintendo fan you should be wanting innovation and not graphics anyway, I have digital tv and no HD tv anyway.
