Rock gym overused?

I think Orion said it better than I could in another thread, but the selected typing themes for the gyms in this game are pretty disappointing overall. It's one thing to have a rock-type leader be the first one again, but it wouldn't be so bad if they could've just found room to include a friggin' dark-type gym already... three f***ing generations, and still no dark-type gym. What the hell?

rock is not usual its just used a lot at the beggining making them weak

It's unfair for Fire-type Pokemon because they are weak to Rock-type. Especially the first generation, I have to learn Flamethrower before beating Misty. Double weakness...

i think its overused now its boring with rock in every game except xd,colo,silver,gold,and crystal

I think a rock gym is the perfect starting gym. It's easy with 2 of the 3 starters so it eases you in but if you want a challenge then you can pick the fire type. I do agree that geodude is over-used though. Onix, aron, larvitar, shuckle, nosepass or even one of the fossils could all be used.

Yes, it is odd though. There aren't THAT many rock types iirc.

I don't mind, its not the only type to be used three times.
Water, Electric and Fighting as well so...
It would be nice to see a different 1st gym type however and have Rock later on.
