Router WEP key

So I just got Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs and I am trying to get the two WiFi events. I am having trouble connecting. I recently got a new router so that is probably the problem. So when I tried to connect it said we had to enter a WEP key. Our router doesn't have a WEP key, it has a WPA key. We looked it up and you cannot get the WiFi events with WPA; only WEP. I don't know what to do. Is it possible to have both and we just can't find it? Please help (preferably before the events end).

Your router is set to WPA - that would be why you can't find your WEP key, because your router isn't using one. They're security protocols, your router can only be set to one at a time.

Instead of futzing around with changing the security, because it isn't worth permanently compromising the security on the connection over which you routinely send personal information back and forth just for a video game, just disable your security entirely for the two minutes it'll take to download the event, late at night when it's less likely that someone is standing outside your window hacking your house's Wi-Fi to get your credit card numbers, and then re-enable the security when you finish.

No muss, no fuss.

Oh my god, thank you so much. It's sort of anti-climactic after spending more than an hour trying to figure this out and then figuring out that the solution is so easy and takes two minutes at most. :/
