I wonder if the homeroom teacher Jacq is actually the boss of the evil team.

The reason I say this is because it is speculated that the car with part of it resembling the engine Pokémon is linked to the evil team in these games. The engine Pokémon has been leaked to be a Steel and Poison type and by looking at Jacq's colour theme and design he really does seem to resemble poison types in an aesthetical way. I can imagine the engine Pokemon to be the ace of the evil team Boss.

It seems like it's already trending this way but I kind of hope they take a break from the whole twist villain thing. It was nice for a few years but I'm ready to go back to a campy evil team with a goal that's really stupid when you think about it for 10 seconds (which is probably longer than they did)

Maybe they got simplified since were basically getting three different games with the path system? It’d be difficult to make the Gym Leaders have very unique and interesting personalities and interactions if we also have a main quest where we need to stop the evil team and/or find another Legendary Pokémon.
I understand that. However, I wish they had a design that somehow made them stand out a bit more as characters with high importance in the game.

Yeah, no more twist villains please. We always see it coming from a mile away. At the very least I hope this team is played less like villains and more like annoying but ultimately harmless antagonists.

Well Giovanni in USUM as a surprise villain was pretty good and I don’t think anyone was expecting the quest to take out Rainbow Rocket would take so long.

The thing I am worried about is the design of the Gym Leaders. After Sword and Shield where we had some incredible designs, the leaked gym leaders don't look somewhat special to me.
I think the difference is, SS the leaders were more or less sports celebrities, so their designs reflected that. That they had this energy and extravagant styles to reflect that.

We're going back to the gens 1-6 style where the leaders are just normal people, living their normal lives as well as being top trainers.

Outside of Grusha, we only have headshots for most of them. They'll probably look better once we get the full reveal. I agree though that SwSh's Gym Leaders had some of the best designs.

I am curious if the other story routes have their own set of Gym Leader-like trainers.

I seriously hope that the teachers are kinda similar and are involved in the other route. We do have exams and I would love to battle them. They have good designs and it'll be a waste if they're just ordinary NPCs. They could also be specialists for types not used by the Gym Leaders.

Admittedly an evil twist character could be great if done right. Volo was an example of this. Lysander, Lusamine (especially her) and Rose kinda look like they were expected to be villains based on their designs. Surprise villains can be great if done correctly.

Since this is the leak thread, here is what I'm hoping will be revealed (hiding it under a tag to avoid a long post):

New Pokémon
The First Stage Seagull (Electric/Flying); which I believe to be the regional bird.
The First Stage Spider (Bug); which I believe to be the regional bug.

New Regional Variants
Paldean Tauros (Fighting Type)

New Characters
Normal Type Gym Leader

New Gameplay Mechanics
Picnics

Earlier, Khu tweeted "place your bets on what's in the trailer" or whatever, and I was going through the replies and saw this about the parakeet Pokémon leak:

I don't think I saw it posted here and I don't remember there being much info about it before (correct me if I'm wrong) so I thought I'd share! He also said "it's funny" in response to someone guessing "fire/grass" (meaning the chili pepper, I assume) and "stage1 is cute" about the salt Pokémon. About the electric/flying bird, he said, "it's amazing, very fierce."

They're all in that thread, but I thought summarizing might be better than posting a bunch of links, haha.

Going to take my guesses in thinking that the Parakeet Pokémon will have different colors/forms, just like real world parakeets. I'm also going to guess that they will be the smallest bird pokémon to date.

I had some as pets when I was a kid. They were very cute. I was very devastated when one of them (Susan) passed away.

I believe it indeed has multiple forms. It is Gen 9's Alcremie/Minior/Vivillon. And by that, it does not change type regardless of form. Everything is aesthetic.

I forgot they come in so many colors!

I hope you can get all of the forms on your own, rather than having it be like Vivillon or something... it's such a hassle trying to collect them all. If they don't do that, I wonder if it'll be more like Minior or Oricorio- as in, will they be stuck in the form you find them in or will you be able to change it somehow (like with the nectar)? Regardless, it'll be cool to see all the forms for it.

Huh, I never noticed that the trend started with Gen VI.

I wonder why Khu worded it as you "need" to collect them.

Maybe getting all of them grants the player a special item or access to some area?

I consider gen 6 to be the first one to really start pushing for more global connections, so that could be why. They were released the same day worldwide and they had all those global communication features, and the generations since then have only built on it. The "collection" Pokémon are a good way to encourage interacting with fans around the world, probably. (One day I'll have the La Reine trim and Pharaoh trim Furfrou.... one day....)

Maybe it's a side quest or a story quest to collect them? That could be interesting.

Now I see why it must have been a hassle to get all of them; having to constantly trade back and forth.

I'm thinking that the level of difficulty might be more like getting all of the Unown this time around, where you can get them all in the same game.

My hopes
  • 3 new standard Pokemon. Maybe the Flying/Electric bird, Steel/Poison engine, and a cross-gen evo.
  • The reveal of Paradox Pokemon, with one ancient and one future being revealed.
  • Info on another story path, like the flags and what they're for.
  • One or two new gameplay features like the picnic feature.
