Rumors & Leaks - Speculation/Discussion Thread [⚠️PLEASE HIDE STORY SPOILERS⚠️]

I wish they would leak which new Pokemon are version exclusives (I really don't care about the Paradox forms)
Those are usually the ones base my decision on which version to pick. But this time I really want Violet, since purple is my favourite colour, I like Miraidon better and it has the DILF professor, so I hope the new Pokemon version exclusives I like better will be in Violet.
I assume, since there are no other regional forms (Booo! Boo!) the 4 Tauros forms will be split among the versions.

I'm also dying to see the designs of the new Pokemon, especially Lechonk's evolution.

If they are exclusives I could see the Fire Tauros going to Scarlet and the Water one going to Violet. I'm sure Normal Tauros and the pure Fighting Black one would be in both versions

This was food posted by Khu, seems that this is what Fidough's evolution will resemble.

I could see it becoming a Cocker Spaniel, Pekinese or Shih Tzu styled dog.

That’s kind of why I’m conflicted on which version to get. At first I immediately decided on getting Scarlet since orange is my favorite color & I like Koraidon’s design better. However, lately I’ve been considering getting Violet instead because I prefer Ceruledge over Armarouge & I like how the game feels like it focuses on the future (which is a good contrast to Legends Arceus since it heavily focused on the past).

Right now I’m just waiting on the paradox forms & the version exclusives to see which game I want more

Yeah I should probably wait until we see what new Pokemon are version exclusives before deciding.

I know a lot of people prefer Ceruledge over Armarouge, but it's too close to call for me. I find it kind of weird that Ceruledge has a move that heals while doing damage--and Armarouge has a move that drops it's own defenses--since the former seems to be an offensive Pokémon, and the latter seems to be a defensive Pokémon. But the names Bitter Blade and Armor Cannon are so cool.

I find it hard to believe there are ~50 new moves. I can't remember the last time so many were introduced--must of been an early gen. ~25 new abilities is actually in line with SwSh, and includes pre-existing abilities with a new name. I liked the new moves and abilities in SwSh, and hope they keep up the same quality and creativity.

Even though it seems like so much have been leaked, there's so much we don't know. We know about a lot of Pokémon, but we have no idea what they look like. Armarouge and Ceruledge proved this to a T--I thought Armarouge was going to hold a shield, and I thought Ceruledge was going to be a Fire version of Aegislash.

For the past few generations, aside from a number of lines consisting of older pokémon, they've usually had 2-3 new lines of version exclusive pokémon, and 1 new line of version exclusive regional variants and box art legendries. So based on that here is my own short list of predictions:

Scarlet
Primeape Evolution (which includes the Mankey Line)
RF Diglett Line
Armarouge
Paldean Tauros (Fighting/Fire)
All of the Ancient Paradox Pokémon
Koraidon

Violet
Bisharp Evolution (which includes the Pawniard Line)
RF Tentacool Line
Ceruledge
Paldean Tauros (Fighting/Water)
All of the Future Paradox Pokémon
Miraidon

Just a comment on the new moves.. Sun and Moon actually introduced ~50 new moves too! I only looked this up recently because I was coming across things in BDSP with moves that I hadn't seen before.. but these do include things like Ariados' signature move Toxic Thread. So it'll be interesting what moves are introduced, as well as how widely available they'll be and to what pokemon!

Just looked now, and SwSh actually introduced ~60 in total! But it's amazing how easy it is to not come across them, with so many being limited to one line.

I'm still on the fence about which version to get. I've been considering Violet more and more recently, but I won't decide until they release the full list of version exclusives or the game is data mined.

I thought SwSh only introduced 20? I guess that was just the Isle of Armor expansion moves.

It being a Cocker Spaniel makes sense since it's name literally references Spain, despite being more associated with America and the UK. Though that breed originated in Spain. Lockstin actually theorized about that in his video about Fidough when it was first shown

Actually there hasn’t been a single generation where the main series game that started a generation introduced less then 50 moves.

Here is a breakdown of the amount of moves introduced in each generation:

Gen 1: 165
Gen 2: 86
Gen 3: 103
Gen 4: 113
Gen 5: 92
Gen 6: 66(XY: 62, ORAS: 4)
Gen 7: 115( SM: 98, USUS: 3, LGPE: 14)
Gen 8: 108 (SWSH: 54, Isle of Armor: 22, Crown Thundra: 8, LA: 24)

Also info on what they are exactly now.

Rock-Klawf
Flying-Large Bird/Crane (Flying/Dark type)
Steel -Worm
Dragon-Sushi Dragon
Ground -Paradox Donphan

Wow I had no idea. Thanks for the breakdown. Was wondering about this.

It's a shame they couldn't have created a brand new ground type to fill the role of a titan. It definitely feels like the ground type has gotten the short end of the stick this gen based on everything we know. I guess it was intentional in order to have a version exclusive titan but even so it's a shame.

Also it's weird to me how this paradox Donphan is so far away from the vortex at the center of the region. I would have thought if it was a titan it would have been closer to the border of the vortex considering that's where they originate.

Honestly glad that Donphan is getting a lot of attention and cool things finally. I love it's design and it's debut was stunning but in the games it feels it was very neglected post Mew Two Strikes Back. So I'm fine with it and this way Paradox pokemon play a role into the story. So I'm okay with this.

Yeah its good to see it getting some more prominence. Being a pure ground type in gen 2 didn't help as there was no Johto ground-type specialist to feature it and Kanto's ground specialist wasn't in the gen 2 games (outside of an event in the remakes and in that his team was only half ground type and did not use Donphan) and since it hasn't really been used in a major way (outside of the anime) and limited ground specialists too. Its good to see it get something

So I just read in the other thread that Ceruledge and Armarouge aren't paradox forms of Gallade,as I had assumed! (though I was kind of wondering why they didn't introduce the concept along with them)
Are they the "fire warrior" and "'fire blade" branched evolution? (Edit: A-duh. It's even in their classification!)

If sol nice! Then Violet does have the one I like more after all!
One more point to Pokemon Violet!

By the way, since the paradox pokémon are distinct from the originals, are they confirmed to use the same names or something else?

Like is Ancient Jigglypuff actually just called Jigglypuff or something similar?
