That’s Detective Viper to you
And not only that, EFF hasn't ever been made legitimately available (which could have been a sign that a Kalos third version was planned but scrapped due to the 20th anniversary).
That’s when I thought it would have been released. A Pokémon Z would have tied up loose ends left in XY and polished up the story. It would also have been the better place to hunt for Zygarde pieces.

I agree with that observation, I've noticed it myself, but for now I'd rather stay sceptical and get pleasantly surprised when its 100+ new Pokemon, than allow my hopes to get up and then be dissappointed when it's (let's say) just 80

I'll be fine either way, so I guess that's why I'm okay with believing it.

Except that happened with Gen 7 and there SM only had 81 in total, and seven more were added in USUM and LGPE for a total of 88. I only expect that if this gen is going to be another Gen 5 and players will be forced to only use the new Pokemon until after they've beaten the game.
I agree, and the idea to only be able to use new Pokémon before postgame in B/W was poorly received because of the outcry that rivaled the Genwunners. That’s why we’ve gone back to mixed-generation regional Dexes ever since, and why they added loads of older Pokémon in B2/W2.

I never saw B/W’s regional Dex as a problem, since I loved most of the Unova Pokémon. Sadly many others just prefer other gens and see most of the Unova species as completely forgettable.

I would not mind if they do that again, not this game cause it's already confirmed that we will have mons from all gens.

I liked that I mean it forces you too use the new mons and get familiar with them. In the end you know them all. However in newer gens you always forget that some Pokemon even existed.

I currently believe that this game will only have about 80 new Pokemon in it. This gen could add more through DLC and other games, but still.

Idc if we have only 80 new Pokemon, as long as we have regional forms for post gen 1 Pokemon

Is there anyone out there than genuinely prefers the 4chan posts or anything from practicalbrush12 over these vague and convoluted riddles? I miss the days of practicalbrush12 and the Affleck Leaker. I'm so sick of Riddler Khu. It would be a lot nicer if the riddles were like a simple picture like very hot pepper + crocs = Fuecoco and done without the insults.

I think Unova’s problem is that a lot of their Pokémon are forgettable clones of Kanto Pokémon. Most of the Unova Pokémon everyone seems to forget aside from me that is.

And I think that if they do go for a large amount of new Pokemon that will happen again.

Not necessarily. Hoenn had a fairly large amount of new Pokemon, though Gen III didn't try to create clones of Gen I Pokemon. I'm still in the boat of thinking we'll only see about 85 new Pokemon...again, though if they do go higher this time, we're probably not gonna see the same thing that happened with Gen V. In some ways, Gen V was meant to be a soft reboot. Gen IX is an evolution for the series.

Would you guys prefer if the Region's Champion gets a type specialty rather than remain miscellaneous? If so, which one?

Up until now we have seen champions who specialize in the Dragon (twice), Steel, and Water types respectively.

Personally, I would love to see a Fairy or Psychic Type Specialist as the Regional Champion.

Type specialist champions would be nice. Especially if you have to build a generalist team with coverage to take on the elite 4 or champions league.

Speaking of Elite 4 and Champions League….what does everyone prefer? Do you prefer the older style Elite 4 or the bracket tournament from SwSh? I liked the way SwSh handled the lead-up to the Championship battle. One change Id like to see, though, is a more dynamic tournament with the pairings and winners of the NOC matches randomized so you get a unique tournament on each playthrough.

I honestly like the tournament style SwSh had. It was a nice change of pace, though it would be cool to see a tournament and then E4.

I like aspects of both. In a general sense I loved the Champions League, but my issue with it was that outside of Leon, the league didn't feel as... heavy, for want of a better word, as standard Elite 4 did. With Elite 4 it felt like you were tackling not just the Champion but an entire group that was a step above your every challenge up to that point, but with the Champions League you were fighting a collection of people you'd already bested before, until finally getting a properly climactic match against Leon.

If I were to ask for a change, as much as I don't expect to see it, I'd like a fusion of the two akin to what the anime implicitly has: a (possibly randomized, although I'm not sure how they'd manage that) tournament among Gym Challengers, with the winner getting to challenge a full Elite 4 and Champion. You get that sense of not being the only competitor that the Champions League pulled off well, but without sacrificing the weight of a complete Elite 4 challenge.

Just because i'm curious on how the unused types such as Grass and Electric would look like on an elite four level I would personally like it if they returned to the old formula for these games, but I also wouldn't mind if they decide to save it until Gen X.

So it's more out of curiosity than anything but whatever the case I'll be happy either way.

To be honest, I kinda like when they have more of a range of types, like Cynthia, Gen 5, and Gen 6's champions (I forgot their names). I feel like that made them pretty dangerous and really 'worthy' of being a Champion.

If they did have a specialty, though, I'd say Dragon. I know its almost stereotypical at this point, but they're often very well-rounded types and thanks to it being Gen 9, many of the combinations are taken, so it's possible for a Champion to have a very varied team while still being monotyped (and thus able to handle some of its own counters and feel like a champion fight). I mean, we have all but Dragon/Bug at this point, right? And we're likely to get at least 1 dragon line here (Gen 8 gave us 3) so it's gotta be easier than ever to get a 'true' Dragon Master champion (Iris just had 3 from Unova and Lance just had 2 Dragonairs & a single Dragonite; 3 Dragonites; or JUST 1 Dragonite in the 'Let's Go' games).

Maybe one way they could handle this explicitly say that the Elite 4 are gym leaders that you didn’t face in your gym challenge, former champions, or the lead gym challengers from previous years. This could give the tournament some narrative weight and “freshness” by presenting stronger opponents who you haven’t faced while retaining the tournament structure.

For example, SwSh hints or says that Galar has a lot more gyms than the ones you challenged. It would be nice to see those gym leaders face off in the final tournament and even beat some of the other gym challengers you faced.

I don't care so much who the Elite 4 are; the series has never had a problem with the Elite 4 not feeling like they live up to the position (besides debatably Sun and Moon, where a couple felt a bit iffy). They could be former Gym Leaders who rose beyond that position, past Gym Challengers who settled among the top, usurped former Champions (like Lance technically was in RBY, kind of); all of those are fine.

The issue with SwSh was just that outside of Leon none of the others felt as though they were a step beyond anything you faced getting to Wyndon. It was that lack of feeling like you had reached a milestone in completing the Gym Challenge and were now facing trainers a step beyond that, that was the problem for me. Even though the story told us things like that Raihan was only a step below Leon, he didn't really... feel like that? Leon was the only one that had that sense of being a new wall for you to overcome.

That all being said, I do like the tournament format. It really gave Galar this sense of you being in competition not just with the Gym Challenge itself, but the other would-be Champions around you as well. It gave some much needed life to your interaction with your rivals, where they not only challenged you but also visibly chased the same goal as you. It's just that in creating that feeling they lost a feeling I would rather not be lost.
