I played RS for like, 1-2 years. I was HEAVILY into it, I loved it. My username was Guaradia (102), and I had like, 3 pures I used to play on. PKing is VERY fun, certainly when you have a few friends over, playing as well. But I have quit, and no, I won't give you free stuff.

To all the people who say its a shitty, its friggin not. It doesn't have sharp graphics like WoW, or any other MMORPG out there, but that doesn't automaticly make it a crap game. There is alot of things to do in this, its just so much fun. Bored training skills? You can go pking, or to castle wars, or go do some quests.. Through the day, there is around 130k OF PEOPLE PLAYING. That is ALOT. More then any other MMORPG I've seen. This game gets updated nearly every week, which either is a new quest (All quests have storylines) minor(bug fix -.-)/major(New town or something) update.

The one thing I can't tolerate is people dissing this game, because of the graphics. Well guess what? EXCELLENT GRAPHICS, PLUS CRAPPY GAMEPLAY = CRAPPY GAME. (FFX-2 PlX)

Nice stats just looked you up....anyways I toke a break from it to go here, and my rs name is Cannon Golem (84), heh One time my members ran out and I had 57 range bumped that to 70 in one week ^_^. Anyways Pking is indeed fun my best kill on my pure was Full Rune along with 20k

Best kill I got on my main was err, whip, full drag no chain. That totaled to like, 18m back then.

Best kill on my pure was probably 2 granite mauls. (When they were like, 500k)

I played it before.

It sucked.

Not because of graphics, but because of the gameplay and the people who play it.
The gameplay is...well, it gets old. Fast. There's nothing interesting about it - killing stuff is boring after the first few times. Quests are boring(at least the beginning ones - but if the first quests you can do don't hold my interest, why keep playing until I can get better ones?). PKing isn't my style. Farming items is boring to me.
The people who play tend to be n00bs(there are some smart people, but the rest are just...n00bs. And elitists.), and I can only handle so much of that before I give up on something. I've re-tried it every once in a while, but it never gets any better.
In short, unless the game suddenly becomes fun to play, and unless the people playing it suddenly get a large increase in their IQ, no Runescape for me.


Besides, I'm too busy playing KOL, Teh Yard, and Generia to spend time on mere java-based MMORPG games

I've played it a few times.... It is dreadfully boring... The framerate is jumpy, the graphics are pretty bad, and... I really don't see whats fun of clicking on enemys to kill them.

Also, they could of done a better job on the actual battles, maybe something better than the same animation no matter what manner of attack or wepon you used... Also, I hate the camera...

I should probably mention this...aside from Runescape, the only other things I've played that might qualify as MMORPGs are the Kingdom of Loathing, Teh Yard, and Generia. They're all awesome, and they're all frame/text-based. Why do I like them more than the typical MMORPG? Simple, really. You get fun adventure text, such as this:

and the best item description ever:

So although it's still leveling up and questing over and over, you get to read humorous enough text that you want to keep playing, and don't mind doing the same thing over and over QUITE as much. Not only that, but things go faster in general. Leveling up doesn't take up hours of time. It's hard to explain, really. I think it's just a matter of what different people like.
Oh, and the people at the RPGs I like to play are smarter and cooler than others, and the dumb ones are riduled enough to go away. Imagine an online RPG filled with people like Ed, Jynxo, I_D, etc. ...I'll stop before this becomes an essay about why I love the RPGs I do XD But yeah, I think it's just because I'm not fond of the "tradtional" MMORPG.

Oh too bad, PKing on this game is probably the best part of it...

Muting everyone helps. However, I constantly faield to find anyone smart and respectful enough to be put on a friends list.

To be quite honest...as I said above, Runescape-style RPGs aren't my thing(translationon't look for any more replies by me in this topic). But it's free, and you get what you pay for. Although the horrible community of people who play it would turn me off of ANY game like it.

I tend to ramble on a lot when I'm posting at 7:36 PM on a Saturday before Dub Naruto airs(which means that I'm hyper) and when I haven't had dinner yet. I will probably wonder why I made this post later on, but feel that Gradia's comments warrent a responce so I'm posting this anyway.

Runescape is an alright game I guess, it's not the graphics that were horrible, it's the darkness of the graphic, like, night time only, that's what I usually see. And to be honest, if a game allows you to see the sky, you might as well see the whole thing of it. I could be wrong on this, as I haven't been playing that for ages unless my friends asked me to, which is rarely. It just doesn't have nicotine that can get you addicted to the game

Whenever I try to play RS, I get bored after the first month or so. It's fun at times when you have things to do, quests to complete and all that but when it comes to leveling in RS, it ranks high in "Most Boring games of the decade"

Example:
Your Strength is 55. You have full Rune, Rune Scim and Diamond Ammy (I'm speaking F2P here, not all of us have credit cards.) You're fighting Lesser Demons at Karamja. Still, it takes about a decade or so to even level once. And since Lessers tend to hit very high, the food is a big issue. First, the boring moment of fighting the shitty Demon, then the even more boring moment of fishing the stuff to eat (And cooking it too!) then repeat. After awhile, it get's boring.

The Graphics aren't the best, allthough it looks very good these days. (Compared to RSC)
It tends to lag quite alot on slow computers.
Servers are often packed.
You do everything with your mouse (Which is one of the reasons I choose WoW over RS)
Noobs are infesting large MMORPG's these days. (Since WoW costs money, it doesn't get as packed with noobs as RS, which is free)
Mining, woodcutting, basicly all the gathering skills, are in the top of my list when it comes to boring stuff to do.

To sum it up, RuneScape is a fun game if you can pay the monthly fee to be a member (I've been that once, that's fun) but is a really boring game when you're playing F2P. After awhile in F2P, you know exactly everything and Jagex is never updating F2P, just members so there's almost never anything new coming to the game.

I give RuneScape a 5 because of partial boredom, partial fun.

NOTE: I wrote this very, very, very late (3am!) so half of it might just be blubberish that I wrote half-sleeping.

I agree with the F2P being extremely boring, Once youve been on members once you just cant go back t F2P and be happy :/
And i also agree the comunity is bad, some lower leveled players cant walk 5 steps without being tagged a noob my 16 people :/
Members severs tend to have less of that..... less not completely taken out

I played Runescape for like a 6 or 7 months. I was a member and stuff. I loved RS1 but when RS2 came out I started to stop playing. I was pretty good but now I've quit. My username was Lordpker122

The highest combat level in RuneScape is 126 (Unless any new combat skills have been introduced)

Too all who are b*tching about the community... It's alot better in P2p. And also, not everyone is an arse like you say, I've meet plenty of nice people. Maybe you should go to Tip.it forums. I don't believe RS has changed THAT much, since I've quit.

F2P is ALOT more boring then P2P, everywhere you go its packed,, alot of the servers are full (Through the day, its nearly impossible to get onto one of the full worlds) If I didn't get members, I would of quit the first few months of playing. There is ALOT more to do in P2P, the quests can, and will take a while to finish (Without a guide, a big quest can take like, 5 hours, with one, maybe 2)

Also, there is two versions of RS, Runescape Classic, and Runescape 2. Classic is 2D, and RS2 is 3D.

Um yeah, basically. When I used to train at axe hut, they'd automaticly attack me. So it didn't require me looking at the screen for hours, I usually alt+tab over to look at forums (Like what you're doing now!). So I'm doing 2, maybe even 3 things at once.

Jagex is never updating F2P

Heh, its funny, Jagex has like what, over 30 worlds f2p? They don't even PAY for it, they can play for as long as they want. Jagex is even generous enough to UPDATE, maybe every 6 months or so. That is alot, considering they don't even deserve it.

I find it funny how people say that RS is crap compared to other MMORPGs, that its very boring and repetitive. Even though I've found that you can do ALOT more in RS, then most other MMORPGs. There is like what, 21 skills you can train? Each one different. Then there is like, 14 different mini games. (Treasure Trails [FUN], Barrows [FUN], Castle Wars [FUN] ect) And like, 90 different quests you can do.
