I found it sad for your partner, he/she really was devestated seeing you leaving like that.

Personally, I didn't find it that sad, it's just a game, no use crying over it.

Yes, but the game becomes more fun if you transport yourself into it, just like any good movie. We all know that it's just a game, but MD had a really addictive and emotional storyline.
I personally found the story very emotional and sad.

Yeah, I thought that too.. I found it somewhat sad how you had to leave your partner, but meh, I've played sadder videogames than this. ;P I knew somehow you'd be re-united to do all of the dungeons at the end, so I didn't cry.

When I was playing mystery dungeon and got to the end it was REALLY sad it was so sad that it started to actually make me cry. And that was the second time I beat it to and it me even more than the first time. Don't you think it is sad

how does MD end?

Yes, the game's storyline has very sad parts.

When you have to run away and become a fugitive, I was afraid
When you finish your rescue base, I was proud, and my base looks like a skull (started as cubone)
When you destroy the meteor and have to leave your partner, I cried (a bit) even on my second time through
When you return to your partner, I was overjoyed

I think it was the music and the words on the screen durring your little spirit flight that got me.
"your partner is sad..."
"you will miss your friend"
*sob* and this was durring school lunch so all my friends saw me upset over a game.

Its like when you become attached to a character in a game, book, or movie and they die.

its always easier to cry when someone else is, it was sad, but what makes it sad is the icon with your partner crying and the sad violin music, i mean if you turned the sound down and not look at the icon its not as sad but when i did it the first time i felt like breaking into tears but the second time i held it in, i hate sad endings, if youve ever played klonoa; door to phantomile on playstation, the ending is really sad, or in that episode of the simpsons where homer's mother came back but then she had to go back underground and where in the end you see homer waving goodbye even after she left for about an hour then the background turns into night and you hear this sad violin music and it makes me cry when i watch it.
