Salamence or Aerodactyl?

UnskilledBreed

Well-Known Member
Currently I'm running Salamence, Starmie, and Metagross/Snorlax.

However, in the battle frontier, it seems that my losses occur almost always because of a rogue Aerodactyl. Therefore, there must be something that I'm missing...

I want to use Aerodactyl - what is a good moveset that is emerald only?
(I'm planning for easiest possible EV spread - 255 ATK/255 SPD)

Aerodactyl @ Choice Band/Lum Berry
Adamant
255 Atk/255 Spd
Pressure
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Fly/Aerial Ace
-?

No double edge tutors in Emerald that I know of.

Double-Edge – Sootopolis City

...ah.

In the past... 6 months, I was unaware that it existed.

Is it possible to breed anything good onto a Aerodactyl? I have one with pressure and pretty good IVs. I'm going to breed it anyway... so uh.

Any suggestions for an egg move?
(Please say double edge.)

Alea iacta est.
Aerodactyl @ Choice Band
Trait: Rock Head
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp.Atk)
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 6 HP
- Double-Edge
- Aerial Ace/Hidden Power [Flying]
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Aerodactyl = <3

HP [Flying] if you have the patience, Aerial Ace is fine too. HP for more power.

I need Aerial Ace.

In battle frontier, double team is not frowned upon.

THEREFORE I MUST HAX BACK AT THEM KEKEKE.

Aerodactyl is what I like for its Speed. Rock STAB is more useful than Flying STAB, and tha lack of Attack doesn't hurt as both hit hard.

Yea you could, If you have patience try for adamant. He's more than fast enough for Battle Frontier. Netbattle recommends Jolly though, because all the fast Pokemon use +speed personality. So its up to you

Adamant Aerodactyl at max Speed is 359.

That definitely outruns everything from base Speed 5-100. Starmie, Sneasel, Persian, Raikou, etc have a max Speed of 361. Starmie and Raikou never go max Speed (on NB), and Persian/Sneasel can't do much back. Plus, they won't see much use in OU. Sceptile, Alakazam, and Dugtrio max out at 372. Dugtrio doesn't trap you and its Rock Slide isn't a OHKO, while you can easily OHKO back with Double-Edge. Most use Adamant anyway, in which you are defnintely going to outrun them. Aerodactyl and Sceptile almost always have a Timid nature, so yes, they are going to outrun you, but they aren't that common so you don't need to worry about them. Swellow maxes out at 383. Once again, it isn't common and it can't OHKO you with its strongest attack, Double-Edge (though it will leave a dent). Most use Adamant anyway. Aerodactyl, Jolteon, and Crobat max out at 394. Crobat can't do much to you, isn't common, and most use Adamant. Jolteon and other Aerodactyl can OHKO you. Jolteon is almost always Timid so you'll be forced to switch. Aerodactyl is either Adamant or Jolly. If its Adamant, you can have a chance of beating it. If its Jolly, run. You should be switching out of both, anyway. Electrode isn't seen in OU, but it can outrun you. Ninjask is seen sometimes and can outrun you, but can't do much to you and will usually pass before it attacks or you attack. These speedy pokemon are either uncommon, or don't max out their Speed. None of them will dare switch into an Aerodactyl anyway.

I'd suggest rebreeding for Adamant, like Raikou said, if you have the patience.

Air. is a good Pkmn to use jus watch out for its weaknesses.

^ How useless. I agree with Tazz, rebreed for an Adamant one, it works the best with the given moveset. Also, if you're into EV training, with 252 EVs in Speed, and a decent IV, you should be fine.

I hope that was prewritten - otherwise, thanks for the care that went into the comment

But in BF, I see just as many non-standards as I do standards, and the computers don't seem to care what they switch into something.

Where did you get this data BTW? I want to look up how fast my Salamence is. For some reason, Ursaring outspeeds it... maybe it was just Quick Claw haxing...

Three times. What are the odds of that?
(Within a margin of error, yes?)

Ursaring base speed: 55

Salamence base speed: 100

Hence in terms of speed, Salamence > Ursaring.

Congratulations. You are an official hax victim of the BF.

Nothing likes taking Aerodactyl abuse, and UUs are no exception. Well, if you know your Aerodactyl's Speed at level 100, then you can be sure that it will outrun Starmie or Modest Alakazam and so on.

This data can be found on Smogon.com or Serebii's main site. Both have their own pokedexs.

IT'S ASHER JESUS!!!
Personally, I like Aerodactyl better because of it's pressure.
