Personally i have:

Sceptile@Scope lens
Leaf Blade
Crunch
Dragon Claw
Detect (To be changed for Ice or Thunder punch, haven't decided)

I'm surprised the endeavour set has yet to be mentioned:

Erm the person could have a mono grass team...(although I doubt it). Anyway since its in-game hes probably just battling with his faves so it doesn't really matter.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with a mono Grass teams. I use one in game and for competative battling all the time.

Anyway, Sceptile is an awsome special sweeper and should make use of it's high speed and special attack stats. In game it's not a good idea to give Sceptile substitute as you only get one tutor, which can be used on much better 'mon.

Actually sceppy's one of the best pokemon to use substitute on.

Really? Wow. learn something everyday!
But i take it thats with a physically based Sceptile?
What about Jumpluff? I heard that was a great sub user?

No its for both physical and special sceppy.

And jumpluff isn't good as sceppy but yeah it uses substitute-more of a necessity for jumpluff really.
