• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

School Rules You Hate!

Paradoxe

not actually psychic
My school is pretty chill. They let you do whatever you want, as long as it's not disruptive, and not getting in the way of your or others' learning.

There's still the "no public displays of affection" thing, though.

My county's policies are weird.

Most school rules I can agree with, but dress code ones are annoying. I get it if it's a school trip or you have inspectors in, but other than that it seems a bit stupid at times. I get yelled at at least once a week over wearing nail polish, and that usually takes away 10 minutes of the lesson as well. Other than that, my school isn't too bad.

My primary school though, was actually mental:

1. There was a "12 inch rule", meaning you had to be at least 12 inches away from the opposite sex at all times. Despite this, most seating plans were boy girl boy girl.
2. For swimming, guys couldn't wear trunks and instead needed to wear skimpy speedos. That one did make me a little bit suspicious of my headmaster.
3. If girls had hair that was below the shoulders, their hair had to be up at all times. I get this if you're doing a practical in science or if it's for pe or something, but other than that it wasn't really necessary.
4. It was a boarding school, and those who boarded were not allowed to shave their legs/underarms/face (bear in mind the oldest were about 13) because they couldn't be trusted with razors.

There were a couple more as well, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. That school was just messed up in general though, everyone I know who went there is weird now. Including me.

I just realized how awesome my school is. We're allowed to have drinks in class, sometimes food depending on the teacher. We're allowed cell phones outside of class. We're allowed to listen to ipods when the teacher isn't talking. We can make out all we want.

You can make out all the time....i want a transfer asap.

My school had rules that I hated:
1. The uniform
2. No caffeinated drinks
3. No gum- the teachers chewed gum all the time in front of us too, which was very annoying.

My school when I was younger made us

Wear Uniforms. It's a public school!
Buy Lunch at least once a week. WTF!?
No candy. Darn.
Jeans only on fridays. I only had like 3 pairs of cacky pants in the winter, so sweat pants also worked.
And much more.

the strict uniform policy. i got sent home for being in full uniform, with the exception of not wearing the uniform shirt under my school sweater..like that's being a little anal.

we can't wear our sweaters and coats during lunch, or in the library.

hats can't be worn in school or else they get confiscated. they even had a ridiculous video to go along with that rule.

but classroom policies aren't that bad. you can eat, drink, text or listen to music depending on which teacher you have.

Your not allowed to be tickled.
Yes you did read that correctly. They have no rule against tickling someone, but if your the person being tickled you could get a detention.

That is one of the more retarded things I have ever read. On the school's part, not yours. My old school said to have no running in the corridors, but I've never been to a school with really strict rules. It's university next for me too, so that's what, no rules? XD

Look mommy!
I hated that we couldn't have sex run in the hallways. My high school was huge, and when I was late for a class on the other side of it, I knew I was screwed

Oh yeah, that's one I'd forgotton. In autumn to spring, you had to ask permission to take your school jumper off, and had to have it on at the start of every lesson. If you never got the chance to put your hand up and ask the teacher, too bad. Now despite being, well, England, it can get pretty damn hot sometimes in spring and autumn, especially in a poorly ventilated part like our school. In the event someone (often during assemblies) got so hot, they passed out, the rule is lifted for a week. Despite the fact this happens at least once a year, the rule is never permenanatly lifted, and even during heat-waves it insn't lifted until an incident.

Also, while school uniform is the norm in england, having a specified colour for socks during PE, and one that is not the same as the specified colour for normal uniform is just being awkward.

And my school will not close for snow days, even if every other school for miles has done so, and the majority of teachers can't make it, and we have to wait in the library because there aren't enough staff to do anything. This is because the current head mistress is Margeret Thatcher reborn or something.

This derpy rule that states because I am a transfer student, I have to take this class that is little more than "How to be in University! How to study! Herp De Derp!"

This is my second year, and I am an A student...

My schools very cool when it comes to rules. We can use cell phones during lunch, and use iPods before school and during free periods. We can even wear hats!

My only problem is how much of a Nazi my CAPS are to the dress code. Nothing that says "kill" "death" or anything along those lines. Yet they allow religious message shirts at a public school. I for one don't like it.

At my new school hair has to be kept off the ears, off the eyebrows and not touching the collar. The rules state we're not allowed long hair because it's "A passing fad". Lol wut

my mom had to make the principal let me wear pants xD
but I still have to wear stupid sperries -.-
even the dudes hafta wear sperries xD

but other than the stupid uniforms, school rules are okay. we can have iPads/iPods/etc. out during lunch and recess, and even our phones can be with us durirng class, but I barely mess with my phone in school because I'm too busy using my iPad to go on serebii xD

This thread reminds me how much I love college.

I honestly can't think of a single obnoxious rule we have here.

yes, the uniform code at my school sucks that way.
that's what I get for going to a private school -.-
all my mom ever did anyway was walk with me into the principal's office.
it was like this-
me: "LET ME WEAR PANTS OR ELSE!!!! I HATE THE STUPID SKIRTS!!!!!!"
my mom: "Or else she'll go crazy."
principal: "Ummmm . . . okay . . ."

another rule I really hate at my school is that they won't let you use electronics during recess when they buy new sports equipment that they expect us to use -.-
