Alright, I continually see threads about Abilities/Moves that Pokemon should or shouldn't have so I thought it wise to create a bigger thread where you can bring your complaints/ideas. Be it how a Pokemon Evolves, a move thats illogical, a Pokemon's abilities, stats, type, or even if you think it's height dosen't seem right. Anything is welcome here. I'll go ahead and start it up with a few.

Slaking has 100 speed. It's 6' and fat.. not to mention it being a sloth....anyone else find this weird?

Dunsparce has the ability to learn Solarbeam, Blizzard, Thunder, and Flamethrower. This suprises me for some reason.....

Mud Shot dosen't affect Flying types but Low Kick does.

I find it odd so many Pokemon are 4'10"-5'0" yet in Anime they are around the same size as Humans. Charizard is said to be 5'0, Lickitung 3'11, and Tentacruel 5'0. When i first looked at these i thought they were in meters but I'm not sure....

Well, Slaking is certainly a strange one. Slaking also has a high(er than expected) special attack and it learns
Faint Attack-...
Solarbeam-You would think Nintendo wouldn't be that stupid
Blizzard-This is slightly over the top
Water Pulse-!!!!!!!!
And loads of other horribly random special attacks. The 4 moves above made the moveset of my first ever Slaking...That was until I got a Choice Band :)

" refers to inches and ' refers to feet. They're not in meters. :<

As for the size difference, the anime never follows the games exactly. You should have known that by now. :p

Well, I find it annoying that Ice and Fire are not very effective against Water...

I mean, the only way to "destroy" water is to freeze it or boil it, shouldn't water and fire be super-effective, and not not very effective?

Iveechan

I find it strange that Tyrogue is shorter than Machop, yet heavier. He must pack a lot of weight in his head or has cement in his pants or something.

It makes me sad that Flygon and Gyarados cannot learn Aerial Ace, but Dugtrio can. Actually, only the Flygon part makes me sad, Gyarados is so strong I'm not fond of it.

Hitmonchan is the only hitmon who has a crappy, useless ability that is only good when up against a random trainer's sand attack-ing Pidgey. I don't know what ability he should have instead, but Keen Eye is useless.

Also, Rapidash' lack of Earthquake and Shiftry's lack of Razor Leaf or Magic Leaf.

Vaporeon

Coral Eye Trainer
Also, the fact of Octillery being able to learn Flamethrower. Now, that's just whack. o_O;

I can somewhat understand the Ice aspect, but the Fire aspect makes no sense. Water puts out Fire. Unless there's oil or something in the water, throwing fire into it will just put it out, making it not very effective :p

It's the anime's fault for not adhering to nintendo's stats.

And Ash is still a midget, and that makes the pokemon next to him bigger than it actually is.

There are a lot of weird things in the pokemon world, but I'll just name one. Dodrio being able to learn FLY but Butterfree/Beautifly/Scizor/Scyther/Ninjask can't. What's up with that?

Yea I understand that but these are sorta huge differences...like Tentacruel being 5'0 in the game and 25 in anime Isn't really anywhere near close.

Sneasel's stats. All the right stats but in the wrong places, eg.

HP is low, perhaps expected
It has sharp claws and is agile, so speed and attack are good
Special Defence is lowish, but ok, and now
IT HAS NO SPECIAL ATTACK OR DEFENCE! Come on, it's a dual special type with several physical weaknesses, so having low Special Attack and Defence makes it all better! Yeah. Not, stupid imbeciles, but I guess that's what Manyula's for.

Also, why does Dragonite have more attack than Machamp? And why does Breloom have the same attack as Machamp as well?

What surprises me is Bellosem's weight. It's smaller and skinnier then Gloom, yet it's heavier. What is Bellosem made of? Uranium?

And that Octillery is able to learn Flamethrower, I understand, because it's supposed to learn all shooting type attacks. But why is the Slowpoke family able to learn Flamethrower?

And then there's off course the Rayquaza with Sunny Day, Rain Dance and Sandstorm mystery.

lol...that is really stupid...I guess its toteach newbies about its ability "air lock"

It also says that Glalie is like 100-200 lbs but Ash can carry him like hes a feather.

Puffs

...NINE-THOUSAND!!!!
It also says that Glalie is like 100-200 lbs but Ash can carry him like hes a feather.

Glalie levitates in the anime.

Hoppip with Splash and Staryu gets Camouflage but Kecleon doesnt.

A Kecleon with Camouflage would be useless. It's Color Change ability is actually better.

What doesn't make sense is how Jynx can be so fast. How can a pokemon wearing a dress outrun a Flygon? o.o

Hoppip with Splash

Just so you're aware, "Splash" is called "Haneru" in the Japanese version. It means to jump or hop, as well as leaping out of water which Splash seems to limitedly imply.

Anyway, when it comes to f***ed up stats, I can't help but look at several of the large Pokemon. Iwark, back in the 151 days, used to hold the title of largest Pokemon in existance. Yet, in spite of all that girth combined with a solid rock body, a combination that seems pretty lethal (hell, in the anime, look at the way it uses Tackle during its first appearance. Pikachu would've been killed if it hadn't dodged), its base attack stat is 45. That's as strong as a Kemusso. Just imagine, a worm the size of a cat trains by repeatedly ramming into a punching bag, which barely moves an inch, then a 28-foot long snake composed of boulders comes along, rams into it as well, and it only ends up having the same effect.

And then there's Whaleou. Largest Pokemon in existance right now, and what does it have? A high HP stat, that's it. Its offenses are just a little above average, when you'd expect a physical strike from such a thing to kill like there's no friggin tomorrow. And why does its defenses have to suck so much? Sure, most of its body is composed of some soft, blubbery substance light enough to classify it as a "float whale" and weigh a mere 800 pounds (ridiculously light for such a size), but something that big still shouldn't be so easy to push around like that, and even if it's considerably light, 800 pounds is nontheless something you shouldn't take lightly (no pun intended). If you took a sledge hammer to the world's largest ball of yarn, are you gonna send it flying across the room? I'd think not. Come on, it's not as if raising some of these stats to make sense would make it broken (there's no complaints about Kabigon.... come to think of it, high physical stats and low special stats would make a lot of sense for Whaleou).

Yeah, but Pokemon wouldn't 'throw' fire in it, they'd breathe fire at it.

Also, Charizards pokedex entry says it can melt boulders. If it can do that, surely it could evaporate water?

I still find it brutally annoying how ghost attacks are able to affect normal attacks in the show, when in the game, ghost attacks dont affect normal types at all. I keep seeing a pokemon use shadow ball on a normal type(eg: ninjask using shadow ball on togepi, togepi gets hit). Shouldnt that sort of thing be impossible game wise.

Although, the size issue is more of a realism factor than anything else. The game tends to have one specific size, whereas the show have a variety.

Next up, how in gods name does hyper beam manage to be used repeatedly in the show? As to that, how come OHKO moves do normal damage in the show when they're supposed to KO them upon contact?

There is a lot of type screw ups in the show that shouldnt be possible.

In the game, i seriously dont understand how rock types can learn flamethrower while others can learn Water Pulse? Most of the things dont bug me that much, but some things just dont really make sense. Like how most rock types can pretty much be KO'd instantly from any special attack while a physical is normal? And how come Lugia isnt able to use Water Spout, and also how come water spout refers to a blowhole spout rather than an actual "water spout"(as some of us really know what a true water spout is, a water tornado)?

Yanma's stupidly low Physical Attack Stat confuses me. The thing can move incredibly fast. It's sort of the same logic Yamato-san used, but this time it's about Speed. If nothing else, its momentum should make direct Physical attacks(like Wing Attack Quick Attack) hurt immensely. The impact could jar bones easily, and yet its Physical Attack barely outclasses an Umbreon's.

Someone at BF brought this up before me, but Umbreon doesn't make sense to me. Its high Defense confuses me. Special Defense makes sense, as it's not based on physical strength. It's more about mind and composure. But Defense....Umbreon looks far too frail to take a lot of attacks, and yet its Defense far outclasses Charizard, who is quite bulky.

Absol's pretty lithe and skinny, but its Speed is pitifully low. O logic, where art thou?

Trapinch's Base Attack Stat is equal to Flygon's, and more than Vibrava's IIRC. I understand attacks with the head, but indirect Physical attacks shouldn't be so damaging. Actually, adding onto that, Trapinch is incredibly slow, so it would pretty much have to be right in front of/next to/beneath its foe to actually deal a damaging blow with its cranium. And by then, the foe should've moved away/attacked back. Meh.

first of all: please post illogical TYPE ADVANTAGES is the "weaknesses that don't make sense" thread. If you have a point to make, please keep that thread alive!

There are... a lot of illogical things in pokemon.

Something that continually annoys me: magnemite getting hit by ground moves. I mean, I meet a cyclist, sends out magnemite - who whirls around in midair - then I send out trapinch and use sand tomb, and the magnemite takes 4x damage... but why did it lower itself into the quick sand in the first place?!?! and why isn't cycling lane full of sandy holes by now?!

and whirpool: if there's no water, where's the whirlpool?!?! what's containing the water?! I guess those are just two attacks that bug me, cuz I can never visualize them reasonably.

ALOT of the pokemon heights are messed up, but only a few are obvious mess ups (I hope). Apparently, I'm taller than both blastoise and nidoking :). and there are a million other things but I have to go now.
