Secondary types for the new starters

So far, it's given that the starters of any generation follow the Grass/Fire/Water triangle, but, on some occasions, the starters have had secondary types associated with them, either from the start (Bulbasaur) or for their later stages (Swampert). I've also noticed a couple of trends with these secondary types: (1) they're always Physical and (2) STAB moves of those types don't give the posessor a SE hit against its "nemisis" type from the triangle, ie. the Grass type won't get a SE hit against a Fire-type if it uses a move of its secondary type. From this, I've built a table of possible secondary type combinations:

Fire/Normal
Fire/Fighting
Fire/Poison
Fire/Ground
Fire/Flying
Fire/Bug
Fire/Rock
Fire/Ghost
Fire/Steel

Water/Normal
Water/Fighting
Water/Ground
Water/Rock
Water/Ghost
Water/Steel

Grass/Normal
Grass/Fighting
Grass/Poison
Grass/Flying
Grass/Bug
Grass/Ghost
Grass/Steel

Opinions? What would you like to see?

A few fancy, though unlikely ideas of mine would be: A fire ant (Fire/Bug), or a crazy battle weed-man type thing (Grass/Fighting) XD!

Just because a special type hasn't been introduced as a secondary type doesn't exclude the possibility of that happening (and technically, there was a special types with the RBY Bulbasaur's Poison typing). Therefore, I shall heartily ignore your "physical-type only" sentiment while I opine, even though the starter theory thread essentially comprised of this discussion.

Grass/Ice - pine tree
Fire/Psychic - stag or hyrax
Water/Electric - electric eel

Also, no starter has ever gathered a resistance to the initial type of the starter to which it was meant to be weak. Just the same has the acquisition of a type ever caused a starter to become weak to the type to which it was intended to be strong against.

I will die the day a grass starter is a generic plant and not crossed with some animal. Ok, I won't but really, I absolutely hate the idea of a non-animal starter.

edit: i'm attached to the idea of a grass starter who evolves into a grass/ground type. yeah, it'll have a lot of weaknesses, but i would still use it. the idea i had was a ceratops line with a thorn theme. they'd be the first grass types with high physical offense.

also, i really like the concept of a part bug fire starter, or a part poison one who was a scorpion. fire types always seem to stick out with the starters (well, charmander matched its counterparts, but cyndaquil and torchic, being a mammal and bird respectively, differed greatly from the dinosaurian/reptilian-like starters. so i could easily see the fire type being an anthropod). of course, a serpent could work well as a fire/poison type also.

water i don't pay much attention to, partly because it's one of my least favorite types. if fire's not a bug, a water/bug would be really neat though, and it would stay a bug unlike surskit.

Animal starters... ugh, I would like some non-animal starters, so we could have some diverse starters. Maybe a water/ghost that can learn will-o-wisp through breeding, and can link it to water pokemon from the indeteminate breeding group that provides it. Imagine, WoW using Tentacruel or Ludicolo As if most water types aren't tankish enough, why not give them something unexpected.

I think Iveechan has a point, at least from a marketing standpoint. I think it would be a bit easier to relate to an animal as a pet and companion than a tree or a ghoul.

But even so, I want to see more diversified starters than the general animal portrayal. 8D

WHERE IS PIDGEOT?!
Grass/Dark(a grey human-like thing with leaves on hands and neck, evolved forms only)
Fire/Rock(a dinosaur sorta thing with crumbly hands and feet, volcano on its back)
Water/Poison(a giant toad thing)

i dont think that primary starters should hav 2nd types, only evolved forms

The starters have to be cutesy little things. Since when was an electric eel cute? :p Not to squash the idea; I'd like to see an electric eel too. Just not as a starter. The starters tend to start out as something that can be easily sold to kids: a baby turtle, a chick, a little gecko, etc. Then they become something more cool in their first stage, and their final stage is always some sort of tough looking monster (We'll ignore Meganium for that argument :p).

But if they're going to do starters, they're gonna stay cute, and they're gonna become something that looks "cool." They can't really do the bizarre stuff until much later in the Dex. I had this whole theory, and you've probably seen it before, that the water starters (the basic stages) have had only one quadroped, the fire have had only one, and the grass has had two. So if there's some pattern there, it would indicate that the new Fire and Water starters would be quadropeds (or maybe even legless), whereas the new Grass would be bipedal. Also, with the final forms, Fire has been a dual-type twice, Grass and Water only once. So I would say, again if there's a pattern, fire would be mono, and the other two would be dual.

Of course, I could be grabbing at air, and there's no pattern, just randomness functioning like a pattern. In which case... all is fair game.

Personally:
Grass-- Squirrel>Kangaroo (my idea), or Stegosaur (feels right)
Fire-- Fawn>Stag (my idea), Lion (likely)
Water-- Penguin (all around what I see most people suggesting)

EDIT: I just remembered. I don't think starters will be getting secondary types like Steel or Dragon, because they're "uber." Dragon is the all-offensive, Steel the all-defensive. It's just too powerful. Ghost would also be exempt due to its resistances and nature of being "dead," which isn't really something I think the starters would be. As for Psychic/Dark, they could work, but add extra Super Effectiveness into the triangle, so I don't know about that. Same could be said for Ice and Electric, which I also feel would be exempt because they're "the other elements." Now Ice and Electric starters would be a really cool change of pace; five starters would be interesting, albeit ruining the triangle. Then again, Swampert's extra Ground type gives it double effectiveness against Blaziken, so I suppose doubling up SE types wouldn't be out of the question. But there does appear to be SOME semblance of hidden rules to how they do starters.

I posted that ages ago on another topic; and got flamed. But I'll stick by you. You'll make me look taller. (I'm more insane than you.)

I would, like Eszett, love to have Special-based starters this gen. And a mammalian grass type, seriously. x__x

My ideal:
Grass/Ice-Some sorta panda or whatever. :0
Fire/Electric-A tiger or sumthin'
Water/Psychic-Something I have no idea now. XP
