I think it would bw interesting if we get a flashback to the Alola episode of Ash training with Kiawe and that is where Ash found a counter strategy for Grappoloct. We never did see Ash and Goh's departure. So they could have done stuff after the trip to Treasure Island.

Yeah I really hope we get a flashback or something of him training Riolu and Galarian Farfetch'd. I know they could just go with Ash training them off screen, but if Ash does manage to win in this episode, I'm not sure how much I could believe it...

I have a feeling ash will come up with a stratergy to overcome octolock during the battle, but will still lose in a pinch. Setting up a final match in galar where she will use dynamax i guess

I don't think he'll lose in the WCS four times in a row. If anything, him winning here will give Bea motivation to challenge him later in Galar.

i'm still really hoping she lets it go, but if she does challenge Ash to a "decisive" battle (which given her personality is more likely to happen), hopefully she'll be lax on it so that way we can focus on more characters, and not want another match as soon as possible.

I do hope this is at least it for Riolu and Grapploct though if they do fight again, that way their potential 3rd battle can use different pokemon.

Ash at least will use different Pokémon, Lucario and Sirfetch'd.

Using the same place where he learned the strategy he used against Valerie.

At Offscreen Land, where he found out that Trick Room can be destroyed with X-Scissor.

Actually while it’s true that Hawlucha learned X-Scissor off screen the strategy that was used to counter Trick Room was created on screen as Ash got the idea for it when he saw how the move reacted when X-Scissor collided with it after Spritzee had move out of the way to dodge Hawlucha’s attack.

It could have been Yajima's idea but that doesn't matter since it was a cool idea and ups the stakes.

Major concepts like that are generally decided in staff conferences, so it could've been absolutely anyone's idea. Unless someone mentions exactly whose idea something was in an interview or something like that, we'll never know.
Omode played a major part in Serena's redesign, and she wasn't involved with the episode where it debuted at all.

That’s just disappointing if he learns a new move off screen. I much rather see ash make a new strategy in the heat of the moment

all of riolu's attacks except vacuum wave were learned off screen as it is.

to be honest other than Zen Headbutt (headbutt Grapploct, cause flinch and let go), Blaze Kick (I know pokemon don't have private sections but it might work), or Bulk up (body expansion) which would help Riolu escape Octolock I dunno of any other options to escape the move.

When looking at Riolu's move options did you stick with the ones he can only learn in SwSd?

And he's using that exact same team again but he hasn't done anything to justify them suddenly being able to overcome Bea!
I didn't think anything could top Wulfric's on how worthless and pointless it was to have him lose, I don't mind Ash losing but only when he actually benefits from it which he and his team clearly haven't. If Ash wins here it's going to be because Riolu evolves, not because Ash has been training hard, not because he picked up a new strategy, but because of a stupid cliche that we thought was dead

The least they could have done is have Ash go and fight the dojo master, getting Hitmonlee which he trades for Sobble Scyther. Then Ash seeks out Chuck and challenges him, beating him he decides to challenge another Fighting specialist and heads to Alola to challenge Hala only to see Bea already there and beating him. Bea sees that Ash's team has improved and battles him, with Ash taking home the victory this time and moving on into Hyper Class while Riolu evolves after beating Grapploct

Ash lost against Wolfric because he began to get overly reliant/smug about Ash Greninja and wasn't able to utilize it optimally against Wolfric. The same happened against Sawyer in the match before where he was too focused on trying to trigger the transformation instead of the actual battle and ending up losing. Ash doesn't train after the Wolfric fight. He simply gets in better sync with Greninja and once he utilises the form optimally, Ash Greninja basically would've wrecked Wolfrics Team. Wolfric only remotely had somewhat of a chance as he decided to use a mega against Ash.

Ash doesn't need to be "Training hard to beat Bea". By no means has Bea shown to be a better trainer than Ash. If anything, Ash was shown to be the superior trainer as he managed to put up a decent fight with his weakest pokemon he just captured(Granted, we don't know whether we could say the same for Bea.)

1. Ash is not the kind of guy who'd trade a pokemon away unless the pokemon really wants it or benefits from it in some way. Ash would never trade away his imaginary Hitmonlee like that .

2. Why should Ash go seeking out a gym leader who he has already beaten in the past? Plus, why should Ash go seeking out fighting type experts? Bea is doing the same because she specializes in fighting type pokemon and perhaps has a desire to be the strongest fighting Pokemon Specialist. Ash doesn't care about any of that.

3. Why should Bea "see that Ash's team has improved" and offer to challenge him? She's not a legendary trainer who only accept serious challenges from "worthy opponents" or something as absurd like that. This is again simply hyping Bea up. If she gets matched again with Ash for a pwc battle, she fights him period.

4. Why should Bea be the opponent Ash beats to get into the Super Class? This is again hyping Bea up for no reason.

5. Pokemon has rarely been known for its creative plotlines. So what if he wins because Riolu evolves during battle? Or perhaps, they could even Ash think of a creative strategy on the fly and come out on top. Ash has always been the kind of trainer who adapts and comes up with unique strategies mid battle. For all you know, the guy is probably thinking of unique strategies in his head to beat Bea or he comes up with something creative on the fly that justifies his win.
