Can this happen?
While ash is struggling goh makes and a plan and somehow take down flygon and captures it and that battle helps ash get a strategy to how to defeat bea and helps him cheer up

Or nothing happens with ash in this episode and after 1 or 2 episodes ash catches grookey who helps cheer him up
It's implied Ash is catching something else before Grookey from merchandise. The new capture could be Flygon

The summary implies that ash has been having trouble with official battles since his battle with bea. That implies to me that he might have lost more battles than just the one against bea so coming up with a strategy against her isn't the problem. Something happens when he fights bea that throws him off his game. Chances are ash is the one that defeats flygon here as the summary specifically mentions that it's toying with him rather than both of them

It’s been implied that Ash is supposedly catching something else before potential Grookey for weeks. This ep looks likely to be another Golurk scenario, only in reverse where Ash does the ball throwing since I assume Ash will snap out of it and return to his normal self instead of his struggling one in this ep and Flygon will supposedly be the key for that.

So if Ash would catch Flygon, what is the difference between it and Dragonite? Ground moves? Yeah no,not this anime. Flyon "flies" too. Mallow demonstrated that. And yes Ash caught three part flying types in Kalos, (makes up for Unfazant I think lol) but their battle styles were different and they knew different moves.

I guess they'll differentiate them by speed v. bulk? Ash's Dragonite was shown to be a tank against Korrina's Mega Lucario. While it can also get faster using Dragon Dance, the Flygon is implied to be very fast.

You do realize that the only Ground type moves that were seemingly banned were Earthquake, Magnitudes, and Fissure right?

There are plenty of other Ground type moves that it can be shown off, not only that but considering that Sand Tomb is in the name of the episode it will likely know that move.

Also as others have mentioned they can have Flygon be faster then Dragonite while Dragonite can be bulkier then Flygon.

Differentiate by speed. Flygon’s implied to be very fast. And Flygon is still able to ground moves since only 3 are banned with Earthquake being the most significant but it wasn’t even used much in the anime anyways. And Dragonite’s more of a tank thats more likely to use physical moves later on with only having Hurricane as a special move and Hyper Beam eventually getting replaced.

Oh right, it probably is then. Given Ash isn't doing anything in the other episodes, apart from Bea but doubt he's getting something there

The difference is quite simple between Dragonite and Flygon.

Dragonite's Moveset:
Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance
Hyper Beam
Hurricane
---------
Flygon can easily run some more moves on the physical side. As its Ground moves are more physical than special. Right so here's an interesting thought Hapu's Mudsdale used Bulldoze multiple times.

We know Sand Tomb is involved but we don't know what else. I kinda want to see how Scorching Sands is. That's one move I want it to know. Draco Meteor or Outrage being the Dragon type move. The last thing is that I wouldn't be shocked if Flygon is Shiny.

Didn’t Mallow’s know Fire Blast and Rock Slide? So let’s use one of those moves just for example, add Sand Tomb, probably add a physical move like Steel Wing, and then plus a special dragon move like Dragonbreath. That moveset is completely different from Dragonite’s.

So it could work in the case that Ash might get it.

You know what I'll slightly update my prediction for this Flygon's moveset
-DragonBreath/Dragon Pulse
-Flamethrower
-Steel Wing
-Sand Tomb
Still going to stick with it knowing a Fire type move since the writers always seem to have every Flygon used in battle have some sort of Fire type move. Drew's and the random trainer that debuted Flygon in the anime all used Flamethrower while the Ride Flygon used Fire Blast.

Quite surely, Goh will want to capture that Flygon, but after seeing how Ash has a depression, maybe it will allow Ash to battle, defeat and capture Flygon. Also, considering the Flygon that appears in the new movie with Coco, it's quite a hint for Ash to capture it.

Considering he's never been seen interacting with it once, I'd say it's most likely a coicidence.

There's always a chance that he'll be interacting with this Flygon at least unlike in the movie. New member of the cast anyone? :v

Ash did play with a Flygon when he and Goh were visiting Galar's Wild Area (he was holding onto its feet while it was flying low to the ground), though I'm not sure how much that counts for who might capture the one in this episode.

I guess you can interpret it as slight foreshadowing ? Regardless whoever captures this Flygon, I still expect this Flygon to be on the main cast.

It'll be a wasted scene if Go gets it. I want to believe someone KNEW that Ash was eventually going to get a Flygon, and was teasing it in that episode. Otherwise if Go gets it, I'm not sure what the purpose of the scene was.
