The fight's animation isn't looking too great from the preview tbh, the air slash looks really stiff, as does the iron tail part, only the electroweb segment looks like anything special as of now, hopefully we get something better in the actual episode and 139
Eh you can't really expect top tier quality anime for something as unimportant like a potential first League win for Ash. Maybe If it was a gym battle!

The way they've handled animation this league has been weird, the battle royale was mostly either stills or reused animation, the top 16 matches were all greatly animated (especially Lana vs Mallow, Hau vs Oak, and Sophocles vs Mina), James vs Gladion was mostly stock footage, Ash vs Hau was ok but only had 2 sorta standout moments (SAR and Sky attack), the rest of the top 8 were stiff, Gladion vs Kiawe was great in the first part but the end was barely animated, and finally Ash vs Guzma was very well animated overall, but not to the level one would expect of such an important match (even Iwane's part of Ash vs Guzma felt like he wasn't going all out tbh).

Captain Pikachu is EPIC

In the Top 16 Kiawe vs Acerola had more stock footage than the Ultra Guardian episodes

It was kinda repetitive, but still well animated

has anyone considered the possibility that the league ends in a draw?. ash and gladion both draw and there is no winner. it would totally defeat the purpose of the league but this league doesnt count anyway. its a joke so not having a real end wouldnt really matter

If it did end in a draw what would that mean for the voters trying to win a trip to Hawaii? Would they just toss both categories of votes in the same drawing?

But if that happens, then no one would win the trip to Hawaii. For in the contest, there's only two options that people can use. They are to call one number if they believe Ash would win. And they are to call another number if they believe Gladion would win. There's no number to call if they believe that the match would end in a draw.

Oh so that's how it works. Was there even an option for Guzma prior to episode 137?

The Anime/Special's canon know it all.

The best part of the stock Z-Moves is that they never bothered to update the character models, so Ash's eyes suddenly jump to the opposite sides of his face when he uses Gigavolt Havoc despite them being set much closer together nowadays
I noticed that, it was strange lol'

Unless you mean Dragon Ball Super, you rarely see recycled shots in other anime.

I see almost all of Toonami, and you VERY rarely see recycled shots. Recycling only ever happens in DBS.

You see it all the time. Especially in long running series like Yu-Gi-Oh and one piece and yes Dragonball and Pokémon Because it saves a lot of time & money.

It's usually the better looking shots. They can afford to spend more animating it since it will be reused so they can save money elsewhere

Recycling was never a common practice, it's often just as time intensive and labourious to apply the old animation to a new sequence. It had greater visibility in long-running anime because those are the few formats where it actually works. And even then the entire sequence is just dropped into the script with no modification.

The Z-Move shots were not 100% recycled. As someone pointed out in Lana v. Guzma, a computer applies the background texture to the Z-Move so each one looks like it's being performed in the area where the plot is taking place. As opposed to speedlines like in earlier series.
