Note from the creator of this particular server:
Please note that sending unsolicited advertisements to newbies for this server is
still considered advertisement, regardless of whether or not this is an official server. (Yours truly doesn't consider it as such because she's well aware of how dangerous it's become to the forum, as noted in
that other thread, but hey. That's neither here nor there.) This is a bad thing for three reasons:
1. If you do it, you put the mods in the awkward position of having to infract you because, yanno, you're kinda sending ads for technically off-site stuff to newbies, which is against general board rules.
2. Afaik, bobandbill is the only mod, you're putting
him in an awkward position because you have no idea what folks will post, and some of us unfortunately have RL stuff to keep in mind. (We used to have folks straight-up talking about porn in the main channel. That's why #m-and-over got created and why y'all should have a regular mod on there, but point is, even if you think you currently have a great crowd, you have no way of preventing new folks from waltzing in and posting content that not everyone wants to see.)
3. If you want more activity on the forum (the sort that attracts people
back to the forum so there can be a larger,
more stable community to talk to), please don't lead newbies into an off-site community where they'll be tempted to spend all of their time instead of, yanno, contribute to the activity on the forum.
So ... yeah.
Furthermore (and the main reason why this post is up), in case anyone is wondering what happened to the link/rules list, please note that the creator of the server sorta left and is trying to tell y'all that you probably should consider creating a new rules thread, perhaps with rules that actually fit your server. 'Cause, like, for example, I didn't want to say anything, but there actually
was a rule that said you couldn't have lengthy writing conversations on the Discord server and had to move that kind of discussion back to the AC. Just ... just sayin', y'all.
