    Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
    Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
    Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

    However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

    We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

^You can edit the php from the admincp I think. Whether it is logical to do so is the main question. Nobody else seems to want it. I actually haven't even gone on the User CP on this forum in months! Not to mention, changing a template on a forum can be quite risky, and is often unneccessary.

On what grounds do you state that nobody else seems to want it? I'm sure that you are correct in assuming that not many people use the user control panel, however I use it atleast once every 5 minutes, and it would be a helpful tool to see if threads I've reported in the wrong section have been moved or not. However, I do understand your point.

Well, I always hear people asking for things like custom avatars, despite the fact that it should be obvious to everybody why it isn't a good idea on forums such as this, but I've never heard anybody ask for what you asked for before, despite it being a more sensible suggestion. However, I may be wrong in my presumptions, as I'm basing this on quite a minimal pool of people.

Ahem. Now that News threads are banned in Miscellaneous forum, how if some Mod/Admin make a 'The Official News Thread' so we can still get news, only on that thread? It's better than bunches of news threads and it's much better than no news at all.

Epic win.


Okay here is my qaurrel. Debate moderators have been pretty inactive so as a result the debate forum has gotten pretty spammy. It's fine now, because I had to contact Rave personally to go clean up house, but reports simply go ignored now. Whenever something is amiss I have to PM someone to bring attention to it. Just ask Rave. Can someone please contact the people specifically in charge of the debate forum and request that they be more active?

I just looked at the moderators for the Debate forum and, overall, they are very active members (plus, there's 8 of them). Most of them probably have other forums to moderate, so I think it is more of a 'Can you put a bit more focus on the Debate forum?' rather than a 'Can you be a bit more active?' issue.

Okay I'll rephrase "More active in the debate forum" I was assuming you already knew what I meant. None of the people specifically in charge of the debate forum are moderating it.

I find GTFO'ing them works better. It widdles down their self esteem until they're too scared to post at all :)

Speaking of that, is there any chance to make misc one of those forums where threads have to be mod approved? I mean, 1 good thread comes through a day at the most. The rest are idiots that post the same spamming thread 4 or 5 times and clutter the misc. forum up with all the closures.

some sort of money system so we can do stuff like play games etc

I have a suggestion. Replace the CRMT mods.

The only mod who really does anything is Raito Light, although SapphireL had started being more active and trying to get into competitive battling.

PsiUmbreon has done absolutely nothing in CRMT for donkey's years, and I am sick of it. It is left up to the regulars to try to sort the forum out, when it is the duty of the mods.

My point is that the mods do nothing and have left it up to the regulars to sort it out. I have PMed both PsiUmbreon and SapphireL about this, and so far SapphireL is the only one who has tried to be active.

There are a few regulars who I feel would make effective mods. Tochukaso is very active, has vast knowledge of competitive battling and is not rude to the new people. He is also very mature in almost all situations.

Blue Ace has knowledge of competitive battling and is generally nice to new users, and is pretty active. Blue Ace is also pretty mature.

I myself know about competitive battling, and am active most of the time. I try to treat new users with some respect, but I have a large number of infractions related to insulting people which doesn't go down well. I generally get into arguments easily as well. I am not as mature as the others, but when duty calls I am.

What I would like to see is PsiUmbreon and SapphireL have their mods removed, and given to someone more deserving.

The CRMT forum is one of the worst forums on SPPF, and it needs active mods to sort it out. At the moment, it is stuck in a downward spiral.

^PsiUmbreon and SapphireL are SMods I think. They mod many other sections of the site, and do very good jobs there. I see them a lot here, so they're not inactive. I think they just need to focus a tad more of their time on the CRMT section. Yes, the DP CRMT section is pretty, well, controversial (if you can put it that way) at times, but more mods isn't the solution. From what I've seen of SPPf as a whole, I don't think we need more staff anywhere.

I did not say more mods. I know PsiUmbreon and SapphireL are active around the site, but they are almost never in the CRMT section. I would like to see them have no authority in the CRMT forum, and have mods who actually do something there.

If my self imposed regulations were rules you would get allot less trolls

When you receive an infraction, you can't participate in games of clubs, you can't have any friends, you are not allowed to be in social groups, You can't have a sig of avatar. You can't start any topics. If the infection was in a club you are baned from it permanently.

Just my idea.

P.S. SOTP ending infashion messages with "HAVE a nice day" It's annoying.
