OK, here goes my second attempt at a fic.

Shadow

Prologue~

In the beginning, there was no shadow above the three regions. Pokemon lived in harmony, and trainers felt determination, and not any worry. But some unique individuals sought power above others. Together, they made a criminal group called Cipher. Cipher’s goal was to remove all uniqueness, all free will from Pokemon, and to use them like puppets. The first time they were destroyed, by two young people called Wes and Rui, and once again, happiness came. But Cipher still existed, lurking in the shadows. Three men brought it back, five years after the downfall of Evice, the Cipher leader. One was called Grevill, the new Grand Master of Cipher. He had two assistants. Ardos, and Eldes. They may have well been shadow Pokemon, as they were puppets, and Greevil could control them. However, some very strong shadow Pokemon where fighting the shadowy aura that surrounded their hearts. One of them was Eldes’ Marowak, which he thought was fully in his control.

Chapter 1~
I'll take my own life

Marowak Speaks

“Marowak, use shadow end!”
no said a small voice inside my head, it is wrong to use such moves.
But I could not disobey him, he was my master, and I was to forever follow his orders.

“Marowak, what are you waiting for?!” spoke the man who called himself Eldes. I spoke the words that gave me the power. I was barely aware of myself running towards the Dewgong. The Dewgong went sprawled across the floor, but got up, yet it was badly injured. Suddenly I felt an invisible force hit my chest, draining my energy. Yet Eldes did not notice.

“Marowak, shadow end, one more time!” I half-resisted that time, and fought to hear what I was saying.

Give me your soul,
Or I will take it.
Hatred is my power,
Love is yours.
Release my power on you,
And I’ll take my own life

Fighting for consciousness, I ran at the Dewgong and hammered it with my bone. But, before I hit it, the other trainer shouted,

“Now, Dewgong, Endure!” Dewgong let out a feeble yelp of pain, but righted itself, its eyes barely open. But, as the move said, I took my own life. I saw the world going black, and with the last of my strength, I swore to hate my owner, the man who called himself Eldes.

Dewgong Speaks

This was not a ordinary shadow pokemon. For the others I had faced, I could feel their shadowy aura in my heart. This Marowak was not like that. I could feel it's aura, yes, but it seemed to be mixed with something else, a slight pureness. The Marowak's eyes were not blank, like other shadow pokemon. Life still blazed inside it, and I could tell that it was trying to escape it's purple cage.

"Marowak, use shadow end!" said the red-haired man. The Marowak hesitated, as if it were deciding if it really wanted to use shadow end.
"Marowak, what are you waiting for!?" I could hardly keep myself from using sheer cold on that red-haired man. But, the man's words confirmed the Marowak's desition. It spoke a jumble of words that I could not make out, and ran at me. I was to slow to make a move, and the Marowak's bone whacked my across my face. I was sent sprawling, and a trail of blood ran from my nose onto the floor. Silent tears rippled down the side of the Marowak's head, yet the red-haired man did not notice. I was too stunned to make a move, but my trainer was saying something about surf and ground types. Seeing an opportunity, the red haired man commanded a shadow end again, and this time I saw a flicker of hope in the Marowak's eyes, and it spoke the words again, but slowly, and I could understand. To a human, it would be repeating it's name over and over, but pokemon had a seperate language.

Give me your soul,
Or I will take it.
Hatred is my power,
Love is yours.
Release my power on you,
And I’ll take my own life

When it finished the poem, it ran at me again. But I was ready, and when my trainer yelled,
"Now, Dewgong, endure," I closed my eyes and braced myself, and when the bone hit me, I felt like I was about to lose consiousness, but hung on. However, before the Marowak fainted, I felt a rush of hatred towards the cruel man controlling the Marowak. I had a feeling that the Marowak was feeling the same thing. Then, the Marowak closed it's eyes, and fainted.

Very Very nice....but....a bit o' length wouldn't hurt you. You have an exciting story with a nice plot. I'd like to see this fic grow.

Congrats,

Chapter 2 Up!

Chapter 2~
Keep your loving

Lugia Speaks

“Jolteon, thunder wave!” spoke the harsh voice of a cipher peon.
I knew what they were going to do to me, I had seen it done before. It was a process Pokemon called "Puppetization". It was a process where a normal, purehearted pokemon lost all of it's free will, and thought that it's purpose on earth was to do a master's bidding. I did not fight the process, they would win in the end. I simply relied on the fact that two more pure ones would come and rescue me, as Wes and Rui did two years ago.

I could sense that they were cutting open my chest. I felt no pain as they put a purple liquid into my heart, then sealed up the wound. Soon, I felt no desire to live, no desire to think, only to follow Master Greevil’s orders. Hmm, destroying all who got in his way sounded good. I felt my body change, as if I was going into a trance. The peons around me were gaping, which irritated me. I shot them out of the window with a simple shadow blast. I then recited a poem that only other pokemon could hear.

Sing your happy tunes,
Live your happy lives,
Keep your loving.
I have come,
My name is XD001,
And soon you all will do my master’s bidding.
Fear arises,
In all of the world.
You have a good reason,
To be afraid

Dewgong Speaks

After my trainer healed me back to full health with a hyper potion, I began seriously thinking. I felt no pureness the other pokemon the red-haired man sent out. Except for one. The Lapras had something about it that was unique, but I could not feel it, only see it. It was just mist.

The Manetric was so close to the red-haired man that it would fight so fiercely, that even a Flygon would think twice before fighting it. It had been fully shadowed, no doubt about it. Then the Salamence came out. At first, it's ferocity that gave the air a heavy feel made me think that it was the same as Manetric, fully shadowed. Yet as I was battling it, I realized that the anger was directed at the red-haired man. I had always been quiet when it came to battling, but now I spoke in the common pokemon tongue.

Can you hear me? I asked,

Uhya. Saitco bahlja noh minga. Sweptular. The Salamence replied.

Do you speak the common tongue? I inquired.

Hah, so you are not one of the stupid ones. When I do that most pokemon give up talking to me. I faked a water pulse at Salamence, which missed by a mile. Then, my trainer's voice pierced our conversation,

"Dewgong, what are you doing? I told you to do a ice beam, not a water pulse!" I ignored him.

Are you not a shadow pokemon? I asked.

To tell you the truth, I was, but I fought of the curse. Now I am a spy.

How did you fight off the shadowness? I asked, now quite curious about this strange pokemon.

Time, mostly. After fighting like a zombie, I started to wonder why I was to forever do my master's bidding. The Salamence ran at me and pretended to ram me against the wall. Soon I began to realize that I was under some sort of spell. After that realization, I sort of became de-shadowed on my own. ARGH! Oops. I had meant to just miss the Salamence with my ice beam, but I accidentaly hit it. Scalamence fainted in one hit, and I did not even get a chance to say thank you.

Chapter 3 Up! FINALLY!

Chapter 3~
An unforgivable taunt
Salamence Speaks

I had suspected that I would come across a pokemon that would not be fooled by my gibberish.

I never thought that it would be a dewgong, though.

I had always loved overdramatic things, so I was wondering, maybe hoping, that the pokemon that would speak to me, would be something exciting! Like maybe a spearow, with a hunger for glory. Or perhaps a disrespectful linoone, that I could befriend.

But no, I got stuck with a dewgong as my all dramatic companion for overcoming Eldes.

But after the dewgong shot an ice beam at me, I began to really wonder about the strange pokemon. Why had it hit me? Why did it not miss on purpose, like it did with the water pulse? Was it a shadow pokemon? If not, was it doomed to be one? I came to the conclusion that it had not meant to hit me with the ice beam, and it did hit because of the dewgong's nervousness about shadow pokemon.

"Salamence, aren't you a little bit grateful?! I just healed you with one of my precious hyper potions!" I would have done what a normal shadow would do, which was give a roar, or a slight bow. But the dewgong had given me a very rebellious spirit. I looked strait into Eldes' eyes, and gave him a look of pure loathing. Not a childish loathing, like when it does not get something it wants, but real loathing. Loathing that could travel around the world six times before it's energy was spent.

But Eldes did not get my message. He just took it as a mere feeling of disrespect.

I knew what was coming, it had happened before. He took out a whip and striked me four times. Once on each of my wings, which he did every day so I could not fly, once across my forehead, and once on my tail.

"Tsk tsk, Salamence, such disrespect. I'll have to take you to master greevil to get a little reshadowing done on you," spoke Eldes, in a malavolent whisper.

That was the last straw. I wanted to stay and spy, but with all of the whipping, insults, and reckless battling, I was through.

Putting all the strength I had, all the rage, all the hate, I charged at my "Master."

He was shocked, so it was easy to hit him with a non shadow attack. Ah, it felt so good to use brick break, then dragon claw, then fly! Fly?! All of my stored rage gave me the ability to fly! I gave a mocking roar, and gave the ceiling a nice torching with fire blast, and flew out into the cold, night air. Then I heard a desperate voice come from near Eldes.

Take me with you!

Marowak Speaks

I felt the pokeball I was in getting tossed around. Scared, I ran at the crack where a sliver of light came. I had never done this before, but the adrenalin in my veins gave me power. I found myself near my master Eldes, and his Salamence in front of him. I looked into my master’s face, and saw death. I quickly hid, thinking Salamence had gone mad.

As I lay under his corpse, I thought of the poem I had recited when using shadow end. And as I tried to make something of the strange words, I heard a rush of wings outside. I did not want to be alone.

Give me your soul,
Or I will take it.
Hatred is my power,
Love is yours.
Release my power on you,
And I’ll take my own life

I’ll take my own life?! Hatred is my power?! What had they done to me?

I had little time to think, so I came to a quick decision. They were evil. And I would not help their plans any more. I would be like Salamence. Salamence! He must be gone! I rushed out and called up to him.

Take me with you!

Lugia Speaks

I felt a pang of warning in my head. It was something that Greevil had injected into my brain. It let me know what was going on with the other shadows. Unfortunately, it did not work very well, so I had to try hard to figure out what was going on.

Eldes shadow dragon
Hurt
Shadow spy
Bone dragon
Dragon bad
Help
Eldes die soon
Dragon run away
Shadow escaping
Bone figure
Poem
End

Those were the key things that were coming up. The dragon must mean his Salamence. Eldes shadow dragon hurt? That must mean that Salamence was hurt.

Shadow spy? Could that be Eldes?! Or would that mean one of his pokemon?

Bone dragon? Bone must refer to Marowak, but dragon too? Could that mean they were fighting together when Salamence got hurt?

Dragon bad?! But Salamence was shadow? How could he be bad? That must have been an error in the program, as it was confusing “dragon shadow” with “dragon bad.”

Help. That was obvious, it meant the shadows needed help.

Eldes die soon?! Does that mean he got hurt by the same thing that hurt Salamence?

Dragon run away?! Maybe the thing that attacked Eldes and Salamence must have made Salamence run away!

Shadow escaping?! That was something that only Greevil would be able to understand.

I carefully took the gadget that allowed me to communicate with Greevil off the table. I pressed the small metal piece to my forehead and thought all of the things that popped up on the injected machine, as well as what I could make of it. I put extra emphasis on “Shadow escaping.” I slid it down the shoot into Greevil’s planning room, where he was currently discussing a attack on Gateon Port.

I closed my eyes, and as I tried to sleep, the words echoed in my head.

Shadow escaping, shadow escaping, shadow escaping.

Yay! Its been so long since I last came here, but your work is still brilliant! Ye fixed the length problem too.

I have a question......in chapter 3, during Lugia Speaks, how did Lugia get that info? and that etched thing is really hard to understand....but i know you don't want to reveal too many things.....:p

Chapter 4
No way
Marowak Speaks

I would have never thought that the Salamence would have come down. But it did.

“What do you want?”

“I am a shadow just like you!”

“If you are a shadow how do you know that you are shadow?”

“I—“ I paused there. How did I know? “I guess I’m sort of shadow. But I hate him. The red haired man.”

“Climb on my back. If any danger comes, I shall rely on you, Marowak.” I climbed on his back, and then wondered.

“What is your name, Salamence?”

“I don’t remember. The shadowing removes all pokemon names, and replaces them with a number.”

“I know my name.”

“What? But, that must mean that you are not fully shadowed!”

“Really? Wow, that could mean that I could stop them! I could get revenge on the red haired man!”

“Tell me, Marowak, what is your name?”

“My name is Eromein,” I replied. It felt so good to say my own name. Before, I had been Marowak. Now, I was Eromein again! Eromein, free from the grasp of shadows. Eromein, free to go with Salamence to stop the red haired man. To get revenge for making me recite that awful poem!

“Well, Eromein, we should go. They probably realize that we are gone by now.” As if on cue, footsteps began to resound in the hallway. “Get on, Eromein.” I clung tightly to Salamence’s neck, and Salamence pumped his powerful wings, and we flew up into the cold night air. The voices were below us now, and I could here a high-pitched female voice talking.

“Oh, Altaria, they’re getting away! Master Greevil will be oh so mad if I do not get them! Let’s go!”

I heard the rush of wings behind us, and I saw that the Altaria with her woman rider were gaining on us. I knew what was coming, and I felt I could enjoy it, for I had not used a non-shadow attack for what seemed like a infinitely long time.

Altaria Speaks~

I fixed my eyes on the large green dragon in front of us. The pigtailed woman was slapping me with her hands. Oh, how I hated it when she did that!

“Hyper Beam! Hyper Beam!” I began taking in power. Power from anywhere I could. I took the rage from when the woman hit me. I took the strength that enabled me to fly. I took the determination to hit the dragon. And then, I stopped. I felt the power go out of my mouth and back into my body. A bone was flying towards my head. I swerved down, but my master was not too quick. Instead of ducking against me she stayed sitting up strait, so the bone hit her in the cheek, and knocked her off me. I swerved around to catch her, but she was falling fast. The bone had flown back to the dragon, as that was what bonemerang was. The green dragon’s little rider was going to strike me down next. I knew that it was either my master or the dragon and the rider. I made a quick decision and swerved around. The bone bypassed me and flew over my head back to the rider. I could see the look of surprise on his face, as I shot flames at him. The rider fell off, unconscious. Two were falling now, and two were diving to get them back.
