Do you think Shedinjas are unfair in the Battle Hall?

I was at the Battle Hall not that long ago. I had an Electivire and finished a Ground streak. Then, I met a Shedinja. My Electivire didn't know any moves that are super effective against it, so I had to forfeit (it has the ability "Wonder Guard" so any non-super effective attack is useless). I could only think how hard it was to get that streak and that stupid Shedinja showed up. Do you think that's a little unfair?

You know, you could have spam out all you attacks until all have no pp left. Then let it use struggle against shedninja. It may be a waste of time, but at least you'll have a chance of winning that way, compared to instant quitting.

Despite being a normal type, struggle ignores ghost's immunity AND shedninja's wonder guard. This is because type advantageous are not accounted to struggle's damage.

Alternatively, you could have waited for shedinja to use recoil move, sandstorm, or all of its 4 moves so that it resorts to struggle.

Yes, but they do put other pre-evolved Pokemon in the Battle Hall too...that gives it a better chance. Oh yea, and just so you know, they only put up Shedinja if you don't have attacks that can hit it. I think that proves that it is indeed unfair. >_>

Shedinja can come in at any time, not only if you don't have the moves.
I've had it come in on my Electivire with Flamethrower.

It's all well and good to prattle on about struggle, but Shedinja does have some attacking moves. Chances are that it would most likely KO the electivire before it could waste all its PP. They may not be the most powerful of moves, but stuff like Shadow Sneak has a fair amount of PP.

That was my thought.

Don't you think that Cross Chop is better if you can get it? Oh yea, and I don't want to try because it can't remember it. I do have a stinkish Electivire that knows Fire Punch.

There's nothing wrong with using Shedinja. It shouldn't be banned, since it has a bunch of weaknesses so it's reasonable to think that you have an attack that will work.

It's completly fair. I mean, think about it. It's weak to fire, flying, rock, dark, and a few others. If you don't have one of your own moves, it'll probably struggle before you will since most of it's moves that are used in the BT aren't high in PP.

The whole point of the Battle Hall is to have a pokemon that is prepared for ANYTHING. Shedinja is weak to Fire, Flying, Rock, Ghost, Dark. It has its fair share of weaknesses, and the Battle Hall is all about being prepared.

i never thought about running into a shedinja...i have a kingdra going through the Hall and i have no moves to fight off a shedinja *gulp*

I suppose you are right, it is just that Shedinja is always the last thing you would expect in a Wi-Fi battle.

Shedinja is either invincible with Wonder Guard or a sitting duck to anything that can kill it.

It's totally fair, just bring something that can status, create Hail/Sandstorm, or land a super effective hit.

Agreed. It has an abundance of weaknesses, so basically any move that it's weak against will kill it. Either way, your team should have a diverse moveset, therefore prepared to cover for any type advantages or disadvantages.

I had this exact problem in the Battle Tower on my Diamond version. My Pokemon didn't have any fire moves (or no PP for a fire move, one of those two), so I had to forfeit my streak at the Battle Tower. I was pretty far, too...

I think it's insanely unfair. Shouldn't be allowed.

True. I suppose it makes things a little more interesting, even if it does kind of suck to get it when you have a long streak. XD
But I guess it's just a lesson that you should really diversify your team's movesets.

Level up! : D

I don't think it's unfair. Shedinja has many weaknesses and, if you're strategic, you'll make sure your Pokemon knows 3-4 different types of moves before heading into a Frontier Facility.
