The name of the region in D/P. They will probably change it a bit, maybe to Sheno or something like that, but we have the basic idea of the name.

NoA might change it to make it a little easier for the kiddies to pronounce. Personally I'm not to fond of Sheno or Shinou.

I like the name of the new region, not that it's really important. However, I would love to see some innovative geographic and topographic features.

For its size, I'm expecting it to be large - at least as big as Hoenn, but preferrably at least 1.5 times bigger. Maybe it could be latched onto the same landmass as Kanto and Johto, which would make sense for it in my opinion considering the suggestions that the past legendary trios have given us that each region represents some direction, leaving Shinou to represent the north. Speaking of the north, I'm hoping that will mean an ample amount of snow and something wavering between a temperate and a subarctic climate, and a large mountain range on either the west or east coast. A bog would also be nice...but enough about environments.

First of all, how do u even pronounce that name? Second of all, I don't really like the name, but it may grow on me.

Alright.
I need some clarification.

Pokebeach, unless I read it wrong, says Shinou is a combination of Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn-- which I sort of believe, because Futaba Town sounds familiar, and also sort of looks like either Littleroot with water, or Pallet without Oak's lab, so it could be one of the two.

So like, what's the deal? And don't just say 'omg reedz teh serebii main page', I've gotten that 20 times, and want to see where in the page scans it either says Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, or 'brand new region'. Not that I can read Japanese, but you know, I'd like someone who can read it to confirm it or not.

Please don't listen to Pokebeach, it generally tends to be filled with lies and unconfirmed rumors. :(

I assure you that Shinou is a brand-new region.

This may be a stretch, but given the characters' scarves, and the picture of the "snowy" beach....

Shinou = Snow

A hint as to the region's climate? None of the names so far have had anything to do with the climate of the region, but here's hoping, eh?

I was thinking along the same track, possibly "Shin" indicating "Shine?" Yes, I know it's Japanese, but still.

Which tend to turn out true 100% of the time. Hm. How odd.

Bah, I still trust your judgement though; though based on the screenshot which confused me and the buzz of anticipation I was really just wanting to make sure about it.

By the way, snow is something I can agree with; the Diamond and Pearl logos having shiny white text provides a very interesting concept, and they can't just beat on land(and fire)/air/sea all the time.

Well, "Shinou" almost sounds like saying "snow" with a Japanese accent. "Shine" is an unlikely indication as the region's name is pronounced "Sheenoh", not "Shine-noh".

I like the name. The graphics are also cool, I like how it seems like a GBA trainer in a Colo/XD environment.

ehh... the name is cool i guess but i dont really care about it much since it has almost nothing to do with the gameplay

I also noticed how one the towns looked similar to littleroot or pallet

I'm thinking that the Futaba town and Shinou (If not at least Futaba Town) are Japanese names for the towns, much like Manyula is Japanese. Also what does Futaba town have to do with anything really. By that I mean the name of it. In R/B/Y the town names were all colors with the exception of Pallet Town which is an artists pallet. In G/S/C the towns were all trees (Along with the professors). In R/S/E they all have to do with the environment (ex. Fortree= Fort Tree aka. Tree Fort) and a cross between a plant and water in some cases (Mossdeep= Moss and Deep, or Lilycove= Lily and Cove) I think they're changing it by the time it comes out here.

They'll probably change it to something with five letters =p.

Most likely. They tend to fit the japanese name into a mold of 5 letters. That's why they added the extra "n" in Hoenn, after scrapping the "u" to prevent pronunciation mishaps. So yes there's a 99% rate it's gonna be Shino.

Actually Cipher, The word for ice is Shimo, not Shinou. And it's still japanese, so we have no idea what the English name will be.

Chances are though that it's shape might look like this:

http://gojapan.about.com/cs/japanmaps/l/blhokkaidomap.htm

I give you Hokkaido, Japan. Anyone think they're going to alter the map like they did for Hoenn? Hoenn is Honshu flipped 90 degrees. Also, Hokkaido is noted for its temperate weather. So, how do you think they'll alter the map of Hokkaido, if it's used. Which it probably is.

Oh and chances are this region is bigger than Hoenn. Hokkaido's a big island and it's twise the size of Honshu. That and there's not much land left in Japan to make a large region.

That's because Futaba Town is the one you start off in and they're intended to look basic and less detailed than later cities/towns.

It's Shee-noh, not shee-new or snow or any nonsense like that. Please to not be calling judgement on Japanese names if you don't know the language. And "Shin'ou" has absolutely nothing to do with "Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn combined", wtf?
