Shiny eggs hatching?

Charaligatr

When is the first chance you get to know if a egg hatched pokemon is shiny? Is it on the screen when it hatches, or is it like the starters and you have to check in summary first?

Need to know as I'm starting the lengthy process of hatching a shiny charmander from an egg.

As far as I'm aware, it's on the hatching screen.

Always subjective
It should be on the hatching screen.

Ahh thanks. Thats good to know

New(er) quesiton: When is a pokemons shiny status decided? I thought it was every time it hatched, but I read somewhere that its set when the egg is made.

So basically every time the egg hatches, is it a 1 in 8192 chance or has it already been preset and I'm wasting my time with the same egg?

I got a shiny Hitmontop from an egg. Itwas the 10th Tyrogue egg I hatched

Also as a kind of warning the eggs usually hatch just before it shines anyway. So like Huh?, Egg, Broken, Shine, Hatched. Just a warning. ;)

Dunno if this helps but this is from gamefaqs

To get a shiny Pokemon, the following conditions must be met:

The left digit of the random Attack/Defense value must be 2, 3, 6, 7, A, B, E,
or F.
The gene-passing parent's Defense gene must be A.
The left digit of the random Speed/Special value must be A.
The gene-passing parent's Special must be 2 or A.

You can figure out the chance of getting a Shiny by determining the odds of the
desired gender of the baby, then look below:

Remember, one of the parents must meet the requirements above, and the desired
gender is the inverse of that parent.

If the baby has a 100% chance of getting the desired gender, or one of its
parents is a Ditto that meets the above requirements, the odds it will be shiny
is 1:64 (8:512).
If the baby has a 87.5% chance of getting the desired gender, the odds it will
be shiny is 7:512.
If the baby has a 75% chance of getting the desired gender, the odds it will be
shiny is 3:256 (6:512).
If the baby has a 50% chance of getting the desired gender, the odds it will be
shiny is 1:128 (4:512).
If the baby has a 25% chance of getting the desired gender, the odds it will be
shiny is 1:256 (2:512).
If the baby has a 12.5% chance of getting the desired gender, the odds it will
be shiny is 1:512.

MAn, that's he way it was calculated in the second gen, since in the third gen, special attack and Special Defence were interduced.

You are waisting your time on one egg, since it's preset when you get the egg from the breeding pair.
