I know of the cloning glitch, and I know it can cause shinies to appear. Has it been figured out how? Is it risky?

Huh?Shinies must always be 1/8192 chance of seeing, theres a glitch???Besides if this glitch does exist, then that wouldnt make shinies special at all

ok,theres a chance,if you try and clone a shiny and turn it off right before or after the 1 second wait, the clones Dv/Ivs will go into the wild, causeing it to have the same stats and everything(exept moves,or corse) or the pokemon tryed to clone.thus, ablity to make any pokemon shiny.
its not very safe though,so i wouldnt try it if i were you.

I am pretty sure this is not correct

save files have nothing to do with what you encounter in the wild... the pokemon are programmed into read only data... partial save files will not affect any read only data

EDIT: the one time it happened it was non-reproducable...

and anyways if you go through grass for 4-6 hours you will probably end up with a shiny anyways... try it some time

OK since I'm the one who discovered this I'll explain...
In the cloning discussion we found out the one second wait is a parcial save. when you turn it off during the wait it sometimes deletes your data but if it works there is a parcial save in this parcial save. the cloned pokes data is lost in the gaming program and the game corrects itself by putting the pokemon data into the most obvious space, the wild. The wild poke has all the same natures/IVs/EVs/DVs. If the poke is shiny that got deleted the wild pokes you find are also shiny but this glitch only happens while you have free space in your party because the parcial save has some data in there as well making all pokes you find exactly the same untill your party is full. Finaly this has a high chance of deleting your game and I was only able to do this because I had a g*** s***** to restore my data if it is deleted. this is what the shiny glitch is.
BTW the g*** s***** is only used for restoring game data and having "fun" with my already messed up fire red. :D

Good thing someone made this thread so we wont be accused of going off topic in the glitch forum.

Anyways, I'd like to try this sometime (once it's at least relatively safe) and try for a shiny Pikachu.... need... PIKA!... :D

I thought you were against cheating, Rachel. I wouldn't risk it, either.

So someone admits it is cheating :D Well, yeah.. I mean, but this particular "glitch" I am curious about though... I really wish Nintendo could just say whether it's legit or not, cause I'd love it if somehow they considered it legit... I mean, who wouldn't love 100 Celebi and a shiny Pikachu?

just because it happened to be that way shiny charizard master doesn't mean it is true and has certainty of happening...

like one day I said that I was going to do one more reset for rayquaza that day and it happened to be shiny... that doesn't mean that whenever I say I am only doing one more that it will be shiny...

you just got lucky...

this is no glitch...

you are basing facts on the randomness that you actually found a shiny

Trainer Rachel

Crystal Mew, he's gotten it to happen more than once. So I think that's saying something.
BTW, you have a shiny Ray? Sweet... I've tried resetting for one before, but no luck.

I understand now. I got a Shiny Lugia after about twenty-five tries once. I tried to get Shiny Houou, but After over a hundred tries, I gave up and stuck to a normal Houou.

I will not try this glitch. Ever.

EDIT: While I was posting this, Rachel posted that he did it more than once. So I guess there is a good chance.

Yeah and once D/P comes I'll prove it by trading you all cloned shiny latias/smeargle/trapinch and more :D
acctualy, XD375, no the chance of this working are rare more than half the time my game was deleted and I cheated to bring it back

Does this mean youll find shinies equal to the number of free slots you have in your party?

S_C_M you obviously have little or no programming knowledge...

the save files are on completely separate sectors on the cartridge from the wild pokemon code...

data doesn't just randomly float over to the wild...

just warning the rest of you to not take this as fact...

You have a shiny Lugia Shane? Wow...
I am over-over-obsessed with the game. I have so many legit shinies... The only legendary one so far is Lugia, but I've tried with Houou and Rayquaza.

My legit Shinies:

Crystal:
Gyarados
Cleffa
Onix
Geodude
Lugia
Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu
Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff
Magby, Magmar
Clefairy, Clefable
Elekid, Electabuzz
Smoochum, Jynx
Tyrogue, Hitmontop, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee
Hoothoot
LeafGreen:
Tentacool (Traded a sour peice of gum for it, lucky me. I just recently returned a cloned version to the original owner, with a cloned Slugma because I felt sorry for him.)
Slugma

I thank my ability to play for a year in Crystal and not get bored for all of my Odd Egg shinies. It is an egg with Pichu/Cleffa/Igglybuff/Magby/Elekid/Jynx/Smoochum/Tyrogue. It will either have max stats or be a shiny. I save before getting the egg. So I spent a year, playing a lot each day except Christmas trying to get all of the legit baby Pokémon eggs. I'm over-obsessed.
