Shiny Kecleon?

dragonfoxmem

Beginning Trainer
In the episode - The Kecleon Caper, there are 2 Kecleon, one normal green and other is unique purple. I wonder if it is shiny or not.

Also our website did not list purple Kecleon in shiny list. I wonder he missed or forgot this one?

Kecleon's a chameleon; chameleons change color. So can Kecleon, with the exception of its zigzag stripe. According to the game, the shiny form of Kecleon is still green, but has a blue zigzag instead of red.

That is the proper term for it, but it's still not a 'shiny' as we've all come to know them from the video games.

Well, yes, in the sense that they're rare, but they look nothing like the "official" shinies in the game. And many people don't think 'alternate alternate colors' count, as they deviate from the game's versions.

The only reason it's not considered "shiny" is because it's not the official alternate color used later on in the games. This was the anime coming up with things before they were placed in the games. We've seen similar things done before, such as the pink Butterfree and the crystal Iwark.

What other Pokemon did the anime have appear as a crystal Pokemon? :p

the anime needs more abnormally coloured pokemon... and more talking ones as well.

I wouldn't exactly consider this a case of anime-exclusive coloring. Sure, Kakureon's official art depicts it as being green, but as someone said earlier, it can change colors, being a chameleon. Hell, I bet if the game programmers were a bit less cheap, we'd most likely see the sprite/3D model shifting through colors (including purple) every time the Color Change trait is invoked. Besides, it's worth noting that the purple Kakureon appears in Mysterious Dungeon (though as an NPC).

Chameleon's normally change color due to their surroundings. And whenever we've seen Kakureon utilize its ability to do so, it's usually made itself nearly invisible to blend in with said surroundings (not only in the anime, but the games as well). :p The Kakureon was straight out a purple hue.

As for appearing in MD, I'd say it's more of a call back if anything. o_o

While comparing to her sighting of a Red Gyaradosu, which is an "official game shiny" mind you.

I think it can be considered "shiny" but not "shiny" as in the abnormal colored Pokemon that you can actually obtain in the games.
