well im trying to get a shiny Mudkip so i was thinking the best way to do that is to get a egg then save it with one step left and if its not shiny then start over. after a while i saw that this baby Mudkip was a female and sassy everytime. so im wondering if its sex and nature is set in stone of what it will be when you pick up the egg, is it set in stone if itll be shiny or not to?

Also i was going to ask this in my other shiny linoon thread but it got locked for some reson, i recall reading somewhere that if a pokemon levels up where you first met it then its states will get a little boost that level, well for fateful encounters such as my shiny linoone when it levels will it always get that little boost to its states or can it just never get it?

thanks :)

the shineyness of an egg is set when you pick it up. as for the other bit i dont think there is such a bonus...

Yes everything is set in stone about an egg as soon as you get it from the daycare man.

I belive that if a pokémon levels up where you met it, it will get a boost. Not a stat boost, but a happiness boost.

The chance is 1 in 8192, and any time a Pokémon is randomly generated by the game, it has a chance to be shiny.

Yes. You can get shinies from eggs, it's just like finding them in the wild with the chances, I'm actually trying to hatch a shiny, but no luck :(, so I gave up

sooooo basically, it's easier to find a shiny then to hatch one, considering you can find said shiny in the wild...

Isn't it cute ^^
^ right, but you can Hatch Shinys.

Exactly I tryed that too and every time it wasn't shiny, had the exact same nature, IV, and stats so you are wrong.
did you save before you got the egg, or did you save with 1 step left.
because then the hatched pokémon will be the same. since it's decided when you get the Egg.

10. Q: Can I save before hatching my Egg, and reset until I have a shiny?
A: No. Unfortunately, everything about the Egg is set when you receive it, so you'll end up with the same Pokemon every time if you use this method. You can, however, save before you take the Egg from the Daycare man, hatch it, and reset until you have a shiny.

;_; Please read the FAQs. Also, all discussion of shiny Pokemon belongs in the above thread, thanks!
