Celebrating the Best of 2014​

It's that time of year again! Time to take a look back at the previous year's offerings in this section to reflect and celebrate—the Shipping Oscars!

Special thanks to the past hosts: Skiyomi, Encyclopika, Water Spirit, shadow_shipper and Uzumaki Hinata.

We'll be following the same drill as last year and head straight to the vote. All the eligible stories/people have already been listed out in their appropriate categories. All you have to do is cast your vote. Eligible stories = stories that were updated at some point during the year 2014. That means even if your story was started in, say, 2010, as long as you’ve posted a chapter in 2014, your story is eligible for this year’s Oscars.

How do you vote? Simple enough. Just send me a PM telling me which folks you’d like to vote for. BAM! Done. The deadline for voting is March 1st, 2015, which means you’ve got some extra time to get some reading in even if you haven’t already checked a lot of these out. So please do vote!

And when you vote, you'll get a nice little picture frame (with or without the rose, it's your choice) with your name and pairing of your choice on it to proudly show your participation:

-All forum and sub-forum rules apply.
-Vote by sending me a PM, not by posting here.
-You cannot vote for yourself.
-Vote based on the quality of the work, not on how you feel about the author as a person. Do not vote for someone just because they’re your friend.
-When you vote, you can vote for as many or as few categories as you want. But only one vote per category.
-You can vote for the same fic multiple times as long as long as it’s for different categories. (Ex. Say a fic was up for Best MultiShipping Fic, Best Oneshot, and Best Fic—you could vote for it in each category if you wanted to.) Same goes for authors/reviewers.
-You can sig campaign for this. As in, write "Vote for my/so-in-so's story in such-and-such category in the 2014 Shipping Oscars!" or something of the like in your signature, and I do encourage you to spread the word to your friends about this contest but... be ethical about it, kay? Edit: I apologise for the looooooooong delay in getting the prizes and results out to you guys. Unfortunately, my computer broke down and I lost half of the prizes, so they had to be remade on my laptop, which has a different graphic making software. Therefore, some of the prize might look a little off because I'm not used to using that, so now you know why. Despite that, I am pleased to have hosted this year's and my first Shipping Oscars. Thanks to all that made this event possible, in particularly Skiyomi for hosting the previous three (?) years in its current format. It was a lot of hard work, but worth it in the end.

I'm kidding XD, you did a nice job with the awards, Meowth City. And for this being your first year hosting, it was good. I didn't vote as much this year like I usually did other years, but the few I did vote in had some good stories, and today's results were enough to remind me that the Shipping Fics section isn't as quiet as I thought it was but it's still not as active and few story threads have good activity. So I'm glad that all the awards here are a sign that people are still reading, the section's just in a tiny bit of a dry spell right now. At least from what I've been seeing.

Also glad that the Shipping Oscars are still just as smooth as ever, because the Gen Fanfiction Awards seem to be struggling this year.

Wait, wha...? "Best Reviewer of 2014"? I mean, yeah, I have left behind a couple of reviewers, but I don't remember which ones outside of "Oddlight". Holy crap XD, that made me do a double-take. And I'm actually really surprised I won "Best Author of 2014". I feel like 2014 wasn't a very active year for me I only updated two fics, and so I have no idea how it is I won that award. I'm also a... bit surprised that "Forsaken" won despite only being updated once last year. I don't feel I deserved it this year like I did back in 2011 when it was more active, but it makes me happy that people are still reading it despite all that went on the past few years. Thanks a lot, guys, I'll do my best to keep the title do better this year. I also want to congratulate the winners, wish everyone else good luck this year, and I hope you all help get the Shipping Fics a little more active. I'll try my best, too.
