Just pointing this out but the whole legendary and mythical Pokémon no longer being unstoppable or unbeatable forces/gods didn’t start in Journeys as it actually started in AG specifically more towards the Battle Frontier where you had Ash’s Charizard beating a Articuno that the Frontier Brain had befriended.

Then you had Ash’s Sceptile and Swellow being able to put up a fight against Deoxys, and his Sceptile and Torkoal were able to put up a fight against Brandon’s Regirock and Registeel respectively.

Ash’s Pikachu was able to defeat Brandon’s Regice. Then during DP Ash’s Pikachu and Sceptile were able to tie and defeat Latios and Darkrai respectively.

Not to mention a background character in the Sinnoh League literally had a Heatran.

And those are just some examples.

I checked Wikipedia for that Momotaro figure and found this:
En route, Momotarō met and befriended a talking dog, monkey and pheasant, who agreed to help him in his quest in exchange for a portion of his rations (kibi dango or "millet dumplings").

I'm not very familiar with Japanese folklore but this definitely reminds me of the Loyal Three and how Pecharunt, whose form resembles a peach, shares its mochi.
It's kind of funny when you look it it from this perspective. But admittedly, it's difficult for us Westerners to get the context.
Also, could that "kibi kibi" dance the RVT did be a reference to it?

Yes, it's all very obvious references.

Again, lesser legendaries are not such a big problem that they're beatable by skilled trainers. Boxarts being made jokes is the issue when most of the time they're incredibly powerful.

(A Nurse Joy taking off with a flock of Oricorio, Mary Poppins style.)
They were Comfey, actually.
Rayquaza was being knocked around by not even fully evolved Pokemon, and Zyg got thrown to the ground by a cat that had literally just evolved a minute ago.
Rayquaza didn't take serious damage from the attacks it received from Liko and co.'s Pokémon at Levincia, and Zygarde being blown back doesn't mean it took big damage; besides, it was just testing the kids, at the end of the day.

Those Legendary and Mythical Pokémon still proved themselves to be extremely powerful, so the respect is there. Tobias was a weird case, sure, but Brandon was shown to be a very competent and strong Trainer, making him a very fitting character to actually capture Legendary Pokémon.

Been a real long time since I've watched the SM anime so my memory has a few bugs on the smaller details, that aside, the Nurse still flew off and it was all the more strange.

Plus we did see that if Rayquaza was fighting seriously or was aiming for violence, he'd swat ya like one a fly.

Like it's kind of a big deal that while these pokemon ARE god like, they're still a pokemon that can be beaten with the right strategy.

Yeah. It was in one of those extra scenes that weren't dubbed.

Exactly.

True. They were super strong and treated as nigh untouchable, but not completely unbeatable. As a tangent, I can't help but feel that having Ash be unable to defeat Elite Four members in DP is kinda weird, given that Frontier Brains were established to be Elite Four level Trainers by Scott.

And I'll go out of the limb to say that the Battle Frontier Arc represents the Post Game Content after that big adventure, where we're also expected to take on and make ours, those incredibly powerful pokemon.

(Even if the Battle Frontier won't let us use them in said games.)

If the box legendary isn't caught at the climax of the main adventure, you often find them in that post game (Kyurem and his components) or something we got to take a detour to get. (Necrozma and Nebby.)

I thought it was cute that Hamber also has a Rotom too, I think it's cool that they're making Diana and Hamber a duo lol.
