Perception is reality, that is especially true in the anime. In Japan homosexuality is accepted a lot more than in America. Their language doesn't differentiate between he/she, so if a natural male acts like a female, they would identify them as women metaphysically.

In saw that in Pixv Dento has 2,190 art submissions, while Iris only has 1,494. That honor is usually reserved to the female companions in the group. Apparently they find Dento as having more clearly defined feminine quality. Hence its not even as issue whether you want to label him gay or not gay, but what his characteristics represents.

Ash IN THE ANIME has crossdressed. Does that make him gay, NO.
People drew Dawn in White's clothes, did that effect the writers decisions? NO.
This is a kid's cartoon that is about children going on a journey together, a journey of the heart to pursue their dreams and goals. They may throw some romance stuff on the side but that is not what the show is about.
And good lord. Have you heard of Ruby? He's probably 10X more girly than Dento. You act like Dento...ugh just no, just no. He's not as feminine as people think.

Technically it should be Dent since his name comes from dent corn(just like his brothers' names also come from kinds of corn). It's just that almost everyone calls him Dento since it sounds better.
