If you have Colloseum and XD and Emerald then there is no point to it. Wait you can't trade pokes from GS over. Buy it if you want to play a good game. It will last awhile considering there are two regions.

Buying a second hand GSC game is risky as the internal battery might have run out. Test it in the shop to see if it saves and keeps the data after switching off and on.

To prevent this from happening don't leave the game too long without playing it.

I would highly reccomend G/S/C i havn't played Diamond and Pearl yet not knowing Japanese but i have played one of each generation of the pokemon games (besides n64 and gamecube games) and think that the G/S/C series are the best. i loved day and night, going out at different times to catch different pokemon, Radio i thought it was good how u could get rid of another tune if u wanted and how u heard the spooky tune at ruins of alph and the phone was good 2. u should try it along with the more newer ones

Once you've played the newer games it's hard to go back to the old style though.

Err... how? The start menu's the same, there's Select registering, the graphics are fine, and the only thing you might have trouble with is the absence of new attacks and abilities.

honestly, look for a crystal. Crystal has the subtle changes that made it such a great game. Gold is good though if you want that ho oh with sacred fire...

Lopunny's puns pwn.
I like the newer games and all, but sometimes playing my Crystal makes me so happy... like, I remember when Pokemon was still new and I feel like If I was 10 again... haha, I'm acting like an old lady.

Anyway, sometimes taking some time away from the new generations proves to be a good idea... I guess it depends on personal taste. ^^

Can't you trade them over through Pokemon Box?

Well congratulations on getting Crystal! You should enjoy it.
For some reason, my brother's silver's internal battery ran out years ago but mine is fine. I've never heard of a gold one crashing. (That doesn't mean they haven't, just something I've noticed...)
Just out of curiosity, how much did you get crystal for? Did you buy used?
