Should the anime introduce Hip Hop elements?

Samurai champloo was wildly popular because it was branded as a hip hop anime/new generation. While I would never say thats how the pokemon anime will become. But considering that it takes place in the multicultural region of Isshu (where people of different dieverisity are gym leaders and elite four) then we can assume they can include something like hip hop related things. For example, reference to Afros in the new bull pokemon (Bafron) and Aloe shows different cultural elements. So maybe when they go into Huin they can have some hip hop beats and characters.

I really really really think it shouldn't. Just no, that would be horrible. Just because they have people of darker tones in both game and anime, doesn't mean they should jump to adding "hip-hop" to stuff. Really, thats ridiculous.

I feel like there's not really a reason for it to happen. Yeah there's new characters, but that doesn't change the fact that we're referring to Pokemon here. "Hip-hop" (as you put it) has nothing to do with Pokemon battles.

They already had western, European, and traditional Japanese elements, so why not hip hop.

And by the way guys, hip hop is not exactly synomimous with black. It is only a urban cultural term.

No thanks, hip hop music is awful (in my opinion) and it just doesn't suit Pokémon. Let's stick to all the bouncy stuff.

"Eminem sent out Mijumaru!"

"Use Drug Overdose, Mijumaru!"

"Mijumaru fainted!"

Hip-hop in Pokemon.
Let me think about that.

Absolutely Not, it would be incredibly out of place in Pokemon, regardless of where it takes place.

So if someone said that Iris looks out of place because she doesn't look like the previous girl companions, that would be okay?

It'd be gimmicky. Any sort of musical genre (or definitive theme, in any case) has to seep into a series from earlier on, or else it because a clutch.

Pokemon hip-hop would be done wrong anyways. In fact, japanese hip-hop in general hasn't seen a shining star in quite some time.

Don't think so. I'd prefer to stick with the old and good music. I don't like Hip Hop so much either.

That's just it; Best Wishes is going to introduce new music tracks, most likely, remixed from the ingame music and not that much of the old music. That seems rather obvious considering that this has happened 3 times now in the past. I don't think Hip Hop, Pop, or Rock has to be used though; just remixed music from the games which, in my opinion, fits Best Wishes the best. I say, keep it simple. This is a kid's show dammit; they don't have a complicated taste in music >:3

There is a difference between a character and a music track. It's comparing apples to oranges.. Adding hip hop to the music track is sort of like adding heavy metal to sesame street, IMO. Atleast for me, hip hop would be out of place in pokemon, where the essential aspect is adventure and life outdoors.

Anyways , what specifically are u talking about: the style aspect or the music aspect?

Definitely not. It would just be so weird. Not to mention what would happen in the dub. Would they keep the Japanese hip hop or would they try to mix in American hip hop? Either way they would more then likely fail.

It honestly would not surprise me one bit if the dub did this, and that could go either way in terms of quality. Also rap/hip hop has been in pokemon before. Check out the pokerap, diamond and pearl's first op here in the US, and I've always felt that while it was a song, the op for the orange islands sort of had a hip hop vibe to it because of the beat. Of course if they did this it would probably be more towards Diamond and Pearl opening rather then Pokerap since that was a 4kids thing.

Do I think they would do this for the japanese version? Absolutely not. Hip-Hop is niche at best over there and there would be no reason to incorporate that into a little kid's show. That would be like the US using prog metal music for the battles.
