Should they add wild starters into the games?

I know that there's a huge amount of pokemon already available in the games, but for me, the starter pokemon were the hardest gaps to fill in my pokedex. I always had to buy the opposite version and trade the other starters over to my game. Past gen starters are even more of a problem. Should they just put these pokemon into the games as wild pokemon? They could be rare and only found in certain places or at certain times, but it would make a lot more sense to have them available.

You best believe it
Nah, I don't think so. They are like the 'Icons' of thier respective generations. Bringing them into another generation as wild pokemon would ruin that feeling.

These pokémon are 'special' as it were, or as it should be, to the beginning trainer, and are quite rare pokémon in the first place (Only one of each per region? Excluding breeding) so allowing them to be wild would ruin quite a lot of fun that is collecting them all over two carts, or something of the like...

well, I guess it would be cool like in D or P that you're walking in some tall grass and something appears and you're all like "OMG IS CYNDAQUIL OMG" cos the starters otherwise can only be caught by trading or using gameshark/action replay.

It would ruin a tradition that's been happening sinse 1st Gen. Making starters available in the wild would make them just like every other wild pokemon.

The thing is, Nintendo WANT you to trade, it was the whole original idea, the idea of monsters being transferable between game paks.

And, they want you to get the majority, if not all, the games so that you can 'catch 'em all' and they can get plenty of money from it, it's really a very ingenious way of thinking...

It's easy to get them all now. Global Trade centre is your friend.

(Unless you don't have WiFi)

somewhat backwards.
IMO, they should. I don't see why the starters should be considered as "different" just because they're, well, starters. Having legendaries not appear just anywhere makes sense because they're special and whatnot. But the starters are just ordinary Pokemon of the Grass, Fire and Water types that happen to have been chosen by a region's professor to give out to beginning trainers. I see no reason why they shouldn't be found in the wild too.

Well, pokemon like Eevee, Porygon and Castform are catchable now so why not? It would be fun to see how hard they are to catch!
I hope more of the old event pokemon could been caugt in the games without those tickets.

They should do it with the Johto Starters seeing as how they're near impossible to get unless you want to bore yourself silly with Colloseum or by finishing the Hoenn pokedex

Either do that, or remake GSC~

Of course they should!!!! It's just so friggin hard to get the evil starters anyway!!!!! :p

Yeah... as much as I like the topic and go crazy whenever it arouses, not here pls.

And starters should be allowed to be captured in the wild. But, maybe very rare or you need to have seen the pokemon or some event unlocked. I dont want to run into Route 1 and suddenly, "A wild Charmander Appeared!" pops up. I want to know when I get them. I was hoping with GSC, that would be possible, maybe when you go to Kanto, its like starting over, and u get another starter. This, of course, increase replay-ability.

I think this function should be implemented into future games, but maybe not going to another region but just being able to get the starters in one game itself without the need of buying another game and trading.

Although, with the arrival of GTS and Wifi, this thread is completely useless.

Yes under one condition, it's only the starter you pick. Making it technically, useless...

Yeah, because you can breed them. I like that idea :)

I think it would ruin the tradition; they're special.

Well obviously, the pokemon could be extremely rare, but I think some of them seem like perfect candidates for the trophy garden in D/P. Eevee, Porygon, Castform and even many baby pokemon have been made available this way, something unheard of before.

When I played Gold version back in my day, just before getting to Pallet/Viridian/Pewter, I always hoped that I would be able to catch the starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle) and was woefully disappointed when I found out that I couldn't.

Of course, that was when I was little.

I still like the idea, even if it will never happen. But who knows? (We probably all do)

If grame freak decided to add in starter pokemon as wild pokemon it would meen one thing, they'd lose money as no-one would want to buy a second game just to get those elusive starters!
