Meh. Meowth has a crush on Koharu. Reverse of JN057. But for the rest except Gou catching pokemon again it was mediocre. 6/10

Pikachu using Electric-type moves on Ground-types seems like a gag at this point; Golugh, Meguroco, Maggyo, Sidon, Flygon, now we have Gamageroge. (Can’t remember if it attacked the mud fish in that one half time gag episode.

On the plus side Gou giving orders to Pika was great; reminds me how Pokémon won’t listen to another trainer unless they trust them and how these two have their own bond.

Run of the mill filler stuff, a little on the cost-cutting end with still frames, smoke bombs obscuring everything but the eyes and some off-model poses.

But we got some funny moments with Goh realizing that Ash’s Pikachu doesn’t fight to weaken, he fights to WIN. Very happy he didn’t catch that Seismotoad. Also, Eevee and her eagerness to learn is so darn cute. She got the hang of TR’s motto so quickly. It kinda makes me wish they had more mascoty-cutesy Pokémon like Mime Jr and Chimecho again. They’re always given the evil-coded Pokémon like dark, ghost or poison, it’d be so cool if they got a fairy type or other “light” pokemon.

Meowth having a crush on Chloe….was…interesting. It felt out of place for Chloe to be SO kind to Meowth so soon. Maybe it’s because she was rarely there to see TR do bad things, but typically for the split-up stories, the characters stuck with Meowth are cautious as heck first. She became his life coach pretty dang quickly. Whatever, I guess we can chalk that up to her progressing as a trainer since she was interested in something.

SO glad to see James is taking care of Morpeko, you can tell he loves it by how terrified he was when it came out of its pokeball, how NOT worried he was when he lost it and how he had NO response to being reunited with it….WHY are we supposed to like this rat again?

Oh and Goh got a Durant. It will now become the new protagonist as it gets revenge on Grookey for bringing the Heatarmor into its den and presumably slaughtering its whole family.

Besides the cute Meowth & Koharu interactions, this was just another bland filler episode. Grookey and Eevee's constant rumbustiousness and Morpeko's hunger gag have both severely overstayed their welcome in this series. I wish the writers would have them called out for their bad behavior but alas, it will just continue to be played off because they're "cute."

And yet another hollow Goh capture at the end. It would have been more impactful if that Durant had gotten stuck with Goh and Pikachu from the beginning, then they would have of had the opportunity to actually bond giving the capture at least some level of depth. Oh well. Overall, 5.5/10 episode imo.

  • Meowth simps for Koharu.
  • Pikachu Pokeblocked Goh.
  • Eevee auditions to join TRio.
  • Ash takes advantage of Morpeko's behavior.
  • Protagonists get blasted off.

You forgot: Wobbuffet has an anxiety attack after monkey steals its butterfly net
Okay, this sounds like an episode I need to watch then XD sounds like those usual fun gang TR episodes with crazy wackiness, which is what Pokémon does best imo
