Run of the mill filler stuff, a little on the cost-cutting end with still frames, smoke bombs obscuring everything but the eyes and some off-model poses.
But we got some funny moments with Goh realizing that Ash’s Pikachu doesn’t fight to weaken, he fights to WIN. Very happy he didn’t catch that Seismotoad. Also, Eevee and her eagerness to learn is so darn cute. She got the hang of TR’s motto so quickly. It kinda makes me wish they had more mascoty-cutesy Pokémon like Mime Jr and Chimecho again. They’re always given the evil-coded Pokémon like dark, ghost or poison, it’d be so cool if they got a fairy type or other “light” pokemon.
Meowth having a crush on Chloe….was…interesting. It felt out of place for Chloe to be SO kind to Meowth so soon. Maybe it’s because she was rarely there to see TR do bad things, but typically for the split-up stories, the characters stuck with Meowth are cautious as heck first. She became his life coach pretty dang quickly. Whatever, I guess we can chalk that up to her progressing as a trainer since she was interested in something.
SO glad to see James is taking care of Morpeko, you can tell he loves it by how terrified he was when it came out of its pokeball, how NOT worried he was when he lost it and how he had NO response to being reunited with it….WHY are we supposed to like this rat again?
Oh and Goh got a Durant. It will now become the new protagonist as it gets revenge on Grookey for bringing the Heatarmor into its den and presumably slaughtering its whole family.
