side quests?

I think that the games give out items and HMs and other things too easily. And it didn't used to be nearly as boring.

I think that it would be better if you had to find a game wardens missing gold teeth in order to get an item, or if you had to defeat the entire sprout tower.

IMO, that sounds a lot more fun than just walking up to a sailor who says "You look strong, take this HM!" Anyone else agree?

XD had some good ones... I think we need one where you need to obtain a stolen Pokemon.

yeah... its a bit stupid how they put that in the games... they should do something like you have to give him/her something in return or beat another trainer that is bullying the trainer who says that he/she will give that HM or tm...
Or you have to catch a pokemon for them.

Um, okay I understand where you're coming from, but what does this have to do with "side quests" which is the title of the thread is it not? :-/

It could use a little more of a challenge, but I don't want to have to run all over the place, defeat a bunch of people, etc.

Oh silly me, I was thinking side quests after defeating the E4 at the time. I'm tired, and sleepy. *yawns*

It would be nice for a couple of unnessery side-quests(like the abandon ship). I mean, they are nessesery to completing your Pokedex, but not to beating the E4... Unless you are using a Gorebyss or Huntail...

Getting HM's is getting too easy. Since G/S/C, Waterfall has been obtained by finding it in a cave. Rock Smash is given to you for no reason at all since R/S. Make it harder, maybe you find it on the floor, and a pokemon runs off with it (one that doesn't appear in the area, but is releted to one there. e.g. A Vileplume runs off with it, and loads of Oddish, which could be rare there, appear. You have to find it in the wild and beat/catch it).

The thing I really hate is walking up to a person, and they just give it to you.

I think that they shouldn't be so direct, and one direction with the game. Maybe finding a necessary HM in the dead ship would have been a good idea? It would force the player to explore, and people wouldn't end up missing the master ball in the team hideout.

I would love if they added side quests. I would like these games to be revolutionary for the Pokemon Series and side quests would aide in doing so.

But at least your ideas are slightly better than your spelling. ;)

On-topic: Yes, side quests for HMs, like it use to be would be lovely.

I want a challenge to earn the HM. When i say challenge, i mean a really really, really... you get the message but a really tough challenge. I agree with all of you. People just give you HMs for free but they are like rare so it aint logical for people to give it out free.

On-topic: Making things a little less direct would make it more interesting, that's for sure. If the world is a little more expansive, maybe we could go on a real side quest to earn key items and HM's.

The problem with *not* giving out HMs easily is that *you need HMs* to get through the game. You have no idea how aggravating it was for me trying to find the Gold Teeth within the time limit. And don't even get me started on those Strength puzzles (shakes fist). If it's a simple quest, fine, but I swear enough as it is. I don't need Pokemon giving me another reason to. Hard is good, but aggravating...

I must agree with this, I disliked how in Emerald all the HMs where pratically given to you, in the first one you have to work somehow to get four out of five of them. I'm thinking some sort of quest where you get some item, you have to give it to someone else in exchange for some other item which you must give to someone in exchange for some other item in which you give in exchage for some other item ect. ect. until the item you get is an HM. Somewhat cliché yes but I still like it.
