Significant Downtime in the next week

Right guys, I know the lag has caused many to leave and stop coming as often, well I have also had enough of it and so this coming week, ricocheting & I are throwing money at the problem and are going to sort this issue out once and for all

As such, at some point this week, there is going to be a bit of downtime as we switch to our new servers of massive proportions. We'll keep these servers in the meantime as the next few weeks after the 4-6 hours of downtime will be a test to see how they handle. Hopefully there wont be any issues but you never know.

We're ordering the equipment today, and once set up in a few days, we'll have 4-6 hours of downtime and then the forums will be inaccessible until the DNS propogates for your ISP. There will however be a temporary link for access until then.

After this is sorted, if all goes well, we'll start to consider vBulletin 4 upgrades.

I appreciate you all sticking around in these times of lag. Hopefully this will fix the error which causes significant memory usage

I'm honestly one of the people that only just lurks around here once in a while because of the serious lagging. Hopefully this server upgrade gets the traffic going smoothly and attracts more will for activity... which may or may not result in another need for an upgrade in the future XD

Oh, I know I'm not in position to say this, but by what I hear, I wouldn't recommend vB 4. This is going by what a lot of the PC admins say, but just saying.

If you get rid of the lag now, you'll destroy an important piece of what made this forum awesome. The Lag makes this place challenging because life is Nintendo Hard (just a reminder, I'm not on drugs, this is how I truly feel about the lag after years of being in Serebii).

OMG Thank you Joe, I hope you guys get it fixed. The downtime is nothing compared to how good it could get, this is the best for everyone here.

That is why I love the lag, so it'll give me enough time to go look at other sites while it's still loading. I expect everyone else to do the same thing. I should really make a petition to save the Serebii lag from being taken down for good.
